    Cooperative Preschool Education in Ethnic China: Ulanqab Case Study: DOI: https://doi.org/10.33093/ijomfa.2024.5.2.9

    The integrated education of family, kindergarten, and community is crucial for children’s development. However, in China’s ethnic regions, preschool education faces significant shortcomings, with limited community involvement and consideration of ethnic characteristics. This study aims to address these gaps by proposing a conceptual framework tailored for ethnic areas, focusing on the Ulanqab region. Drawing on domestic and international research, we develop a model comprising family, preschool, and community inputs, emphasising the importance of community participation. The model includes educational inputs, educational processes, and target outcomes, with the goal of improving preschool education quality. Through this research, we seek to understand the effectiveness of preschool education in ethnic areas and provide insights for creating a high-quality education system benefiting all children

    Undergraduate students' motivation toward online learning and intention to enrol in future online courses

    Online education has become increasingly common, particularly in higher education, and students' willingness to learn online has increased following the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to understand the factors that motivate students to learn online and their intentions to continue taking online courses. The research surveyed 112 students from a private university in Malaysia and found that both intrinsic and extrinsic factors motivated them to learn online. The majority of students also intended to continue with online learning in the future. Extrinsic incentives such as performance improvement were found to be the most effective motivators. Universities should consider adjusting the curriculum to improve student learning while considering the flexibility of the time and effort that students should put in to build a meaningful online learning experience

    An Analysis of Split-Ring Resonators and Potential Barcode Application

    This paper presents an analysis of various split-ring resonator (SRR) configurations coupled with coplanar waveguides (CPW). Three distinct resonant structures are presented, namely, the S-shaped split-ring resonator (S-SRR), the conventional split-ring resonator (SRR), and a pair of SRR. Among the examined resonant structures, it is observed that the S-SRR exhibits the smallest electrical size with the corresponding resonant frequency of 1.37 GHz, while the conventional SRR has the largest electrical size with the corresponding resonant frequency of 3.34 GHz. On the other hand, the resonant frequency of a dual SRR is 2.37 GHz. However, the transmission coefficient of a dual SRR is -11.43 dB, which is higher than S-SRR (-10.02 dB) and SRR (-8.18 dB). Furthermore, this study extends the analysis between a square dual SRR and a circular dual SRR with retained area. The square SRR demonstrates a lower resonance frequency (2.23 GHz) relative to its circular counterpart (2.37 GHz). The comparison also shows that the transmission coefficient of the square configuration is -13.88 dB, which is higher than its circular counterpart (-11.43 dB). The realization of a barcode application is achieved by loading multiple S-shaped split ring resonators (S-SRRs) with varying geometric parameters adjacently onto the transmission line. By individually rotating each of these S-SRRs, it becomes possible to alter the notch magnitude, thereby positioning it within a specific designated range corresponding to a particular code. In the case of a configuration involving rotations of (0°, 45°, 90°, 0°, 45°, 90°), this approach results in the creation of a barcode denoted as "100 010 000 100 011 000". This methodology enables the encoding of information in the form of distinctive resonant responses, providing a versatile and compact means of realizing barcode applications.     Evolution of Requirements Engineering in Agile Methodology – Literature Review

    Requirements Agile approaches have transformed engineering. This paper shows how RE in Agile software development has evolved from documentation-heavy to collaborative, adaptable, and customer-focused. Agile was born in the mid-1990s when the industry realized it needed to respond to changing client needs and market volatility. This evolution includes iterative development, client interaction, and emphasizing communication above documentation, as discussed in the paper. By comparing conventional and Agile RE approaches, we demonstrate the benefits of adapting to change, working with customers, and delivering functional software faster. This analysis provides a persuasive description of Agile RE implementation methodologies and resources through a detailed literature review and real-world experiences. User stories and backlog refinement are notable techniques. The research finishes by exploring how these techniques affect team dynamics, project success, and customer satisfaction. RE's Agile difficulties and opportunities are also examined. The findings illuminate RE methods' successful adaptation to Agile projects' dynamic character.     Performance Analysis of Internet-based DGPS and Commercial Satellite-based Augmentation System: A Case Study in Peninsular Malaysia

    Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) has become an essential component in modern times for positioning, navigation, and timing. A fast-growing economic region in Malaysia required a GNSS-based augmentation positioning and navigation service. To improve navigation solution, several augmentation techniques exist, such as a differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) assisted by reference station, or augmentation service provided by commercial communication satellite. The DGPS correction is applied through a real-time communication medium and can be received at the user side by several communication methods including internet-based, and this method is favourable for land and near-coast areas. This case study aims to investigate the reliability of internet-based DGPS and SBAS along the Peninsular Malaysia. A test was conducted and data were collected over 15 hours at a rate of 1 Hz from the available GNSS satellite using a geodetic-grade receiver mounted on a moving vehicle. The obtained results showed that DGPS and SBAS perform better than the navigation solution with an accuracy of 1.536 m and 0.955 m respectively, compared to the navigation solution with an accuracy of 3.159 m.     Adaptive Gaussian Wiener Filter for CT-Scan Images with Gaussian Noise Variance

    Medical imaging plays an important role in modern healthcare, with Computed Tomography (CT) being essential for high-resolution cross-sectional imaging. However, Gaussian noise often occurs within the CT scan images and makes it difficult for image interpretation and reduces the diagnostic accuracy, creating a significant obstacle to fully utilizing CT scanning technology. Existing denoising techniques have a hard time balance between noise reduction and preserving the important image details, failing to enable the optimal diagnostic precision. This study introduces Adaptive Gaussian Wiener Filter (AGWF), a novel filter aims to denoise CT scan images that have been corrupted with various Gaussian noise variance without compromising the image details. The AGWF combines the Gaussian filter for initial noise reduction, followed by the implementation of Wiener filter, which can adaptively estimate noise variance and signal power in localized regions. This approach not only outperforms other existing techniques but also showcases a remarkable balance between noise reduction and image detail preservation. The experiment evaluates 300 images from the dataset and each image is corrupted with Gaussian noise variance to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of the AGWF’s performance. The evaluation indicated that AGWF can improve the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) value and reduce the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Mean Square Error (MSE) value, showing a qualitative improvement in CT scan imagery.     Facial Skin Analysis in Malaysians using YOLOv5: A Deep Learning Perspective

    Nowadays, people are more concerned about their skin conditions and are more willing to spend money and time on facial care routines. The beauty sector market is increasing, and more skin type readers are being created to help people determine their skin type. While various skin type readers are in the market, each is invented and tested abroad. Those skin type readers in the beauty market are not applied well on Malaysian skin. Therefore, this paper proposes a facial skin analysis system tailored primarily for Malaysian skin. This paper integrated object detection and deep learning algorithms in developing skin-type readers. A unique dataset consisting solely of facial images of Malaysian skin was created from scratch for the model. Additionally, You Only Look Once version 5 (YOLOv5) is employed to detect users' facial skin conditions, such as acne, pigment, enlarged pores, uneven skin, blackheads, etc. Then, based on the detected skin conditions, it further classifies the user's skin type into the normal, oily, sensitive, or dry groups

    Design and Development of Automated Solar Grass Trimmer with Charge Control Circuit

    The focus of this paper is the design and development of an automatic solar grass trimmer prototype, emphasizing high operational efficiency with renewable energy as the primary power source. This solar-based device not only contributes to reduced air pollution but also aligns with environmental sustainability objectives. The prototype features a charge control circuit and is powered by a rechargeable 12V battery. To address low battery levels, a solar panel is employed for automatic recharging. A DC-DC buck converter is integrated to step down the higher voltage from the solar panel to match the battery requirements. Safety features, such as a current limiter and overcharge protection circuits, have been incorporated into the design. The paper provides a detailed discussion on the conceptual design of the solar grass trimmer, including the placement of sensors and motors. Additionally, the cutting motor force analysis and total weight calculation of the prototype are presented.The solar charge control circuit, along with details on the current limiter and overcharge protection circuit, is thoroughly explored. Successful development of the prototype is reported, and the battery charging circuits are analyzed using a Bench PSU and solar panel. The paper includes plots of voltage, current, and power generated by the solar panel under various weather conditions. A comparison between Bench PSU and solar panel power is also provided.     Automatic Filling Machine for Metracide 1 Liter Product Variant at Global Medipro Investama LLC

    Abstract – Global Medipro Investama LLC previously used a CNC liquid filling machine to fill the Metracide 1 liter variant product into bottles. This machine very often produces output that was not accordance with the company's specifications. Based on data from 3 production batches, the average yield rate score obtained was 51.96%. The low-yield rate score indicates that the production process is ineffective and inefficient because of the unstable filling process. This research aims to design and manufacture an automatic filling machine with four nozzles and use PLC as its controller so that the production process becomes more ef-fective and efficient by increasing the rated yield and quantity of output and speeding up the cycle time by eliminating the manual weighing process using loadcell and weighing indicator. Based on data from 3 batches of production using the new machine, the average yield rate score obtained was 98.51%, which increased by 46.3%, significantly more than the old machine of 51.96%. The machine also managed to speed up the production cycle time at the filling station. To produce 495 bottles only takes 33 minutes, making the production process 75.49% faster than the old machine of 134 minutes.
