On the occasion of 100 years of existence and activity of Adam Mickiewicz University in Pozna, one may sum up the contribution of the Faculty of Theology which has existed as part of the uni- versity for 20 years. This contribution has concerned the research and teaching arenas combined with a commitment for the social community of the Wielkopolska province. What is specific of the faculty is its ability to work both on the scientific and didactic levels as well as on the church level, which requires considerable knowledge and time in order to competently combine the requirements of working at university with demands of the Catholic Church managed by the Second Vatican Council. The scientific and popular scientific initiatives in the widely understood biblical studies represent a valuable contribution to the celebration of 100 years of the Pozna university. Like other scientific disciplines, they can proudly make their own contribution to the development of sci- ence in our city, as well as the entire country. One can only hope that the present generation of sci- entists will take the baton passed to them in the relay race of generations, and will make their own contribution to the science thereby honouring Pozna as an important scientific centre in Poland. On the occasion of 100 years of existence and activity of Adam Mickiewicz University in Pozna, one may sum up the contribution of the Faculty of Theology which has existed as part of the uni- versity for 20 years. The action of pericope that describes the anointing of Jesus (Matt. 26:6–13) took place in Bethany, in Judea. These areas were then part of the Great Roman Empire. Christ foretold that the woman who poured out the precious oil on His head in the house of Simon the Leper would know the whole world. That is what exactly happened. Many Christians do not know much about history of the Ro- man Empire, but probably everyone has heard of a nameless woman who anointed Jesus shortly before His passion and death. The woman embarrassed the apostles, her generous gesture toward Christ contrasted with the conspiracy of the chief priests and the elders of the people (Matt. 26:3–5) and the betrayal of Judas (Matt. 26:14–16).The action of pericope that describes the anointing of Jesus (Matt. 26:6–13) took place in Bethany, in Judea. In the presented article history is shown as a special challenge for the Church. The issue raised is presented in relation to historical research and didactic activity of two Polish historians, Józef Nowacki and Marian Banaszak. Two basic questions are asked: what is the specificity of the history of the Church in all theological disciplines? and: What is the basic requirement that this discipline is in the reality of the Church? In the presented article history is shown as a special challenge for the Church. Pope John Paul II in the encyclical Ecclesia de Eucharistia called Mary a ‘Woman of the Eucharist’. He pointed out the attitudes that can be described as Eucharistic. This article, using the principle of analogy and maintaining an appropriate balance, shows St. Joseph as a model of the Eucharistic ap- proach of every Christian. The life of Saint Joseph was characterized by deep faith and love for God and man, the ability to hear and receive the word of God and the constant willingness to sacrifice his life in order to be able to fulfill the will of God. All these qualities are needed to participate in the Eucharist in a conscious and active way. These attitudes result from participation in the Eucharist and should shape the life of every Christian. In addition, it should be emphasized that the Church introduced the name of St. Joseph to the Eucharistic prayers and ordered it to be mentioned immediately after Mary. Placing the name of St. Joseph in the most important prayer of the Holy Mass, introduces him to the heart of the Eucharist.Pope John Paul II in the encyclical Ecclesia de Eucharistia called Mary a ‘Woman of the Eucharist’. Józefa w najważniejszej modlitwie mszalnej, wprowadził go w serce Eucharystii

A broadly understood concept of adjection used in rhetoric comprises various types of verbal and content references. This figure of speech plays an important role in the texts of the Holy Scripture as it shapes the literary construction of the world portrayed by the hagiographers and in consequence bears an impact on the message that they convey. New Bible translations into Polish usually focus on the communicative clarity of the vocabulary chosen, and are less frequently concerned with harmonizing the different levels of the text. The present paper compares eight contemporary Polish translations of the Letter to Philemon together with accompanying commentaries. Among other things, attention is drawn to such elements as the deployment of the etymology of the name Onesi- mus and its connection with the word Christos, the recurrence of the concept of “good”, emphasis on or omission of the connotations of the theme of fight. The interpretations of verses 1, 9, 10 and 14 are set apart since contain metaphors or metonymy. Respect for or reduction of the semantic function of the anaphora and epiphora is examined. The translators of the Letter to Philemon, com- pared to the translators of other books of the Bible, showed greater appreciation, though in varying degrees, of the meaning-formation value of adjection. Perhaps this is due to the shortness of this piece of writing by St. Paul, as fewer textual elements are easier to harmonize.A broadly understood concept of adjection used in rhetoric comprises various types of verbal and content references. The wealth of youth is the wording used by John Paul II in the Letter to the young Parati semper to show that the time of youth is a special period of life which is the wealth of the person who experi- ences it. Also, Francis and the final document of the 2018 Youth Synod show the time of youth as a special period in human life. In the article, based on the teachings of John Paul II, addressed to young people, as well as a post-synodal document for the Young, faith and discernment of vocation, the period of youth is shown as a special time of discovering, getting to know oneself and surrounding reality, designing life. Important elements of the wealth of youth are love, which demands, freedom in truth and friendship with Christ, who helps us discover and realize these values. The article also shows the dangers of the modern world that can interfere with the use of the wealth of youth. They are: culture of temporality, lack of dreams and anxiety, digital environment, excessive and falsified focus on human sexuality, or external living conditions such as armed conflicts, poverty, and various forms of violence. In the face of these threats, ways of preventing and opposing them were also indicated. These are: the choice of Christ as Lord and Friend and openness to His teachings, openness to other people and entering into dialogue with him, it is the pursuit of dreams, shaping and development of spirituality, solidarity and joy of life. The wealth of youth is the wording used by John Paul II in the Letter to the young Parati semper to show that the time of youth is a special period of life which is the wealth of the person who experi- ences it. Rev. Franciszek Dziasek, S.Th.D. was a lecturer of the Archbishop’s Seminary in Poznan from 1950 to 1964. In his lectures, Introduction to Theological Sciences, step by step he justifies claims of theology to be science in the university sense. From the reception of his lectures we learn that he was living with what he preached. In the integral view of the two realities, [theologian and his knowledge] we are shown a trait of theology wisdom, which shows its specificity as the queen of sciences. A Poznan lecturer argues that theology is a science in the ordinary sense of the word. It is also the science of sui generis, because it derives its data from a revelation that is credible in the community of the Church.Rev. What has Rome to do with Silicon Valley? In other words, what has the Church today to do with science and technology? Does the Church have any interest in a debate with the present scientifi c and technical progress, of which Silicon Valley is a symbol? The aim of my research is to look for a new idea of technological progress that will allow to build an integral vision of reality. The teaching of Pope Francis, especially in the Encyclical ‘Laudato sí’ (2015), provides the basis for the undertaken topic. The structure of the considerations refers to the principles of the social doctrine of the so-called three steps: look, judge, act. Therefore, in the course of the considerations fi rstly ZWISCHEN ROM UND SILICON VALLEY 69 the features of technical progress will be presented (1), then its evaluation (2), and fi nally elements of an integral vision of reality (3).What has Rome to do with Silicon Valley?
