4-H treasurer's handbook
Fund development is crucial to WSU Extension programming and, especially, to the 4-H Youth Development club delivery model. Lack of an effective and efficient approach to educating members on proper methods of accruing, spending, and recording funds could result in noncompliance with the IRS and state requirements, inappropriate spending of public funds, and, ultimately, legal implications. The purpose of this publication is to provide guidance for treasurers in the 4-H Club program. This 4-H Treasurer’s Handbook replaces an outdated publication, 4-H Youth Development Treasurer’s Book. Some of the content of this new version comes from the original publication. However, there are callout boxes in this new handbook that cue the youth treasurer how to work with the adult facilitator. A second publication, 4-H Treasurer’s Handbook Leader Guide, is designed to serve as a companion publication for 4-H Club leaders to use while coaching youth in managing 4-H Club funds. This handbook and the leader’s guide are currently used in the 4-H Youth Development program to direct the spending and accounting of 4-H funds
