Exploring Interprofessional Education for Collaborative Practice (IPECP) in Oral Health Education for Professional and Interprofessional Socialization and Identity Development: A Scoping Review Protocol

Introduction: Interprofessional collaboration between health professionals supports enhanced patient care and outcomes. IPECP in pre-licensure education supports professional and interprofessional socialization. Within IPECP students develop an understanding of their professional role and identity. IPECP experiences also contribute to interprofessional identity formation, where collaborative attitudes, behaviours, and skills are developed that support collaboration in practice. IPECP literature in oral health education for dentistry(DDS) and dental hygiene (DH) students is limited. It is not well understood how DDS and DH students are educated in IPECP and prepared for collaborative practice. Inclusion criteria: This review will consider studies specific to IPECP models used in the pre-licensure education of DDS and/or DH students and IPECP models used in health professions education that include at minimum one (1) cohort of DDS or DH students. Methods: A pilot search of CINAHL and DOSS was conducted to identify keywords and indexed terms. Databases searched will include CINAHL, MEDLINE, DOSS, and APA PsycInfo. Peer-reviewed articles satisfying inclusion criteria will be sourced and bibliographies searched for additional literature. Articles will be independently screened for title and abstract, followed by full-text review by two reviewers. A modified JBI-tool will be used for data extraction. Data will be presented in table and diagram forms, accompanied by a narrative summary

Inheritance and Homelessness in Dialogue with Vancouver’s Parks

Sto:lo Elder Lee Maracle’s chapter “Conversation 10: Appropriation” from her book, My Conversations with Canadians, exposes White settlers’ appropriation of Indigenous stories, songs, and knowledge as direct, intentional theft of birthright inheritance. Because oral traditions exist in European cultures only as folklore, there was no recognition of the cultural, scientific, and epistemic authority that Indigenous oral traditions hold. Maracle highlights how knowingly, and unknowingly White settlers robbed Indigenous children of their birthright by writing down stories and knowledge. This inevitably led to the settlers capitalizing off of their plunder. However, in more recent years, in line with efforts of Truth and Reconciliation, Indigenous birthright and familial ownership have been coopted and are in the process of being filtered into Canadian intellectual property law. Maracle interrogates the Euro-Canadian urge to treat Indigenous intergenerational knowledge as equivalent to European colonial private property. The two are not equals

La posture médiatique de Tierno Monénembo

    No full text
Tierno Monénembo is renowned for his outspoken stance against dictatorship in Africa and the perceived powerlessness of intellectuals to effect meaningful change. This position is deeply rooted in his own harrowing experiences in Guinea, a country plagued by the violent authoritarian rule of Sékou Touré. It constitutes a central element of his biography and serves as a means of maintaining a connection to his homeland and the African continent more broadly. This study explores how Monénembo establishes a digital presence, both to promote his literary works and to amplify his political engagement. His media strategy demonstrates that the book is not the only medium through which he has cultivated and sustained a meaningful relationship with his readership.
