    No full text
International audienceThe purpose of this article is to analyze what unites and what separates Marxian and Cartelier's economic theory. Behind a radical critique of Marxian theories of value and money, Cartelier in fact takes up fundamental elements of Marxian analysis such as that of the dual character of labor resulting from its social division. Nevertheless, Cartelier may appear more radical than Marx because the French economist eliminates the hypothesis of nomenclature, and thereby eliminates any form of price theory.L’objet de cet article est d’analyser ce qui unit et ce qui sépare la théorie économique marxienne et celle de Cartelier.

Measurement of tt-channel single-top-quark production in pppp collisions at s=5.02\sqrt{s} = 5.02 TeV with the ATLAS detector

International audienceThe observation of the electroweak production of single-top-quarks is made using 255 pb1\text{pb}^{-1} of proton-proton collision data recorded at s=5.02\sqrt{s} = 5.02 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. An event selection is used to identify single-top-quark candidates arising from tt-channel production with the top quark decaying semi-leptonically. Events passing the selection are then used to measure the inclusive cross-section for the combined production of single-top-quarks and antiquarks, σ(tq+tˉq)\sigma({tq + \bar{t}q}), and the ratio RtR_t between these two. They are measured to be σ(tq+tˉq)=27.14.1+4.4(stat.)3.7+4.4(syst.)\sigma({tq + \bar{t}q}) = 27.1^{+4.4}_{-4.1} (\text{stat.}) ^{+4.4}_{-3.7} (\text{syst.}) pb and Rt=2.730.82+1.43(stat.)0.29+1.01(syst.)R_t = 2.73^{+1.43}_{-0.82} (\text{stat.}) ^{+1.01}_{-0.29} (\text{syst.}). The individual single-top-quark (tqt q) and single-top-antiquark (tˉq\bar{t} q) production cross-sections are measured to be σ(tq)=19.83.1+3.9(stat.)2.2+2.9(syst.)\sigma(t q) = 19.8^{+3.9}_{-3.1} (\text{stat.}) ^{+2.9}_{-2.2} (\text{syst.}) pb and σ(tˉq)=7.32.1+3.2(stat.)1.5+2.8(syst.)\sigma(\bar{t}q) = 7.3^{+3.2}_{-2.1} (\text{stat.}) ^{+2.8}_{-1.5} (\text{syst.}) pb. All measurements are in good agreement with the Standard Model predictions

Differential cross-section measurements of the production of four charged leptons in association with two jets using the ATLAS detector

    No full text
International audienceDifferential cross-sections are measured for the production of four charged leptons in association with two jets. These measurements are sensitive to final states in which the jets are produced via the strong interaction as well as to the purely-electroweak vector boson scattering process. The analysis is performed using proton-proton collision data collected by ATLAS at s=13\sqrt{s}=13 TeV and with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb1^{-1}. The data are corrected for the effects of detector inefficiency and resolution and are compared to state-of-the-art Monte Carlo event generator predictions. The differential cross-sections are used to search for anomalous weak-boson self-interactions that are induced by dimension-six and dimension-eight operators in Standard Model effective field theory

    Arts, Ecologies, Transitions

International audienceArts, Ecologies, Transitions provides indepth insights into how aesthetic relations and current artistic practices are fundamentally ecological and intrinsically connected to the world. As art is created in a given historic temporality, it presents specific modalities of productive and sensory relations to the world. With contributions from more than 45 researchers, this book tracks evolutions in the arts that demonstrate an awareness of the environmental, economic, social, and political crises. It proposes interdisciplinary approaches to art that clarify the multiple relationships between art and ecology through an exploration of key concepts such as collapsonauts, degrowth, place, recycling, and walking art. All the artistic fields are addressed from visual arts, theatre, dance, music and sound art, cinema, photography, including those that are rarely represented in research such as digital creation or graphic design, to showcase the diversity of artistic practices in transition.Through original research this book presents ideas in an accessible format. It book will be of interest to students and researchers in the fields of environmental studies, ecology, geography, cultural studies, architecture, performance studies, visual arts, cinema, music and literature studies

Reconstructing the fallen arch of Notre-Dame. New insights into Gothic vault-building

International audienceDuring the fire in April 2019, part of the central vaulting of the nave of Notre-Dame de Paris collapsed beneath the impact of the fallen spire. The blocks composing the transverse arch were decontaminated, then subjected to archaeological examination prior to attempting to dry-mount them (i.e., without mortar) on the ground. The purpose was to collect as much information as possible about the arch itself (its state of conservation, geometry, fashioning of the blocks, assembly, etc.), to consider the possibility of putting the fallen stones back in their original places, and more broadly to improve knowledge about mediaeval cathedral vaulting. This article describes the method used during this mounting, which took place in winter 2020/21. Five criteria of differing kind and importance guided decisions on where to place the voussoirs, which way round to position them, and which to associate with which. Three were taken into consideration from the outset, with the interpretation of two of these changing over time: the non-standardized dimension of the voussoirs(their thickness), the presence of a cross mark on one of the joint faces, and the presence of rectangular notches on the extrados of the blocks for housing the end of a centering system for constructing the vault compartments. Two other criteria were incorporated as work progressed, pertaining to the order in which the blocks were collected after the fire, and the geological facies of the stones, thus introducing the idea of degree of confidence.By the end of this operation, only four blocks had been placed with certainty.Nevertheless, the criteria thereby defined and their weighting may now be used as a starting point for other investigation methods. In terms of archaeology, the observations carried out on this arch in these exceptional conditions suggest we should reconsider the dating of the nave vaulting, while throwing light more broadly on the relative chronology of building works on this landmark monument of Gothic architecture

International audienceLet A be a finitely-generated commutative ring and k a noetherian commutative ring. We show that, in the category of functors from finitely-generated projective A-modules to k-modules, each finitely-generated polynomial functor is noetherian and has a finitely-generated projective resolution.

Search for top-philic heavy resonances in pppp collisions at s=13\sqrt{s}=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

    No full text
International audienceA search for associated production of a heavy ZZ' boson with a top-quark or a top-antitop-quark pair, and decaying into a ttˉt\bar{t} pair is presented. The search uses the data recorded by the ATLAS detector in pppp collisions at s=13\sqrt{s}= 13 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider during the years 2015-2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb1^{-1}. Events containing exactly one electron or muon are selected. The two top quarks from the resonance decay are reconstructed using jets clustered with a large radius parameter of R=1R=1. The invariant mass spectrum of the two top quark candidates is used to search for a resonance signal in the range of 1.0 TeV to 3.2 TeV. The presence of a signal is examined using an approach with minimal model dependence followed by a model-dependent interpretation. No significant excess is observed over the background expectation. Upper limits on the production cross section times branching ratio at 95% confidence level are provided as a function of ZZ^\prime mass between 1.0 TeV and 3.0 TeV, based on a simplified ZZ^\prime production model. The observed (expected) limits range from 21 (14) fb to 119 (86) fb depending on the choice of model parameters

« Déprovincialiser le marxisme : comment écrire une histoire globale des socialismes ? »

    No full text
