Low Cost Radiation Hardened Software and Hardware Implementation for CubeSats

    No full text
CubeSats are small satellites used for scientific experiments because they cost less than full sized satellites. Each CubeSat uses an on-board computer. The on-board computer performs sensor measurements, data processing, and CubeSat control. The challenges of designing an on-board computer are costs, radiation, thermal stresses, and vibrations. An on-board computer was designed and implemented to solve these challenges. The on-board computer used special components to mitigate radiation effects. Software was also used to provide redundancies in cases of faults. This paper may aid future spacecraft design as it improves the reliability of spacecraft, while keeping costs low

An Uncertain Tale: Alternative Conceptualizations of Pedagogical Leadership

    No full text
This article draws on the experiences of twoeducators to reimagine traditional framingsof pedagogical leadership. In the field of earlychildhood education, pedagogical leadershipcarries conflicting conceptualizations and isoften associated with an “expert” who willdictate indicators of quality, suggesting certaintyand fixed ways of practicing. Educators are oftenreluctant to take on leadership roles that seemantithetical to their collaborative caring practices. In our work together in the Investigating QualityProject and in using pedagogical narration as atool for generating critical dialogue, we explorealternative images of pedagogical leadership.Through sharing our stories, we offer a modeof thinking about pedagogical leadership thatembraces relationality and uncertainty andinvites a culture of dialogue

Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping Site Series Descriptions of the Homer MCCrea Covenant, T\u27Sou-ke Territories (Sooke, Vancouver Island)

    No full text
This field study initially sought to address accessible priority sites within the Homer McCrea covenant in the form of a restoration site assessment and invasive plant species management strategy for future covenant management plans actioned by the collective of covenant stewards, including the Habitat Acquisition Trust (HAT). Broad management goals for the Homer McCrea covenant are “maintaining the trail through the property and managing invasive species” (The Land Conservancy, 2010)

Uplands Park: Invasive Plant Management Plan 2018-2025

    No full text
This document outlines an eight-year plan (2018 - 2025) to remove all remaining mature invasive trees from Uplands Park and identifies zones of high conservation value which provide the focus for complete control of all priority invasive plants and shrubs by 2025. To develop the plan, I re-surveyed the entire park to estimate the resource requirements for controlling woody invasive shrubs and trees based on lessons learned and expanded the original list of targeted invasives to include Orchard Grass, Velvet Grass and other herbaceous species that threaten the park\u27s rare plants
