Exploring Teachers’ Level of Use of Critical Thinking in Moroccan High Schools
Critical thinking is one of many learning skills necessary to prepare learners for post-secondary education and eventually the workplace. Every individual needs critical thinking skills to be successful in finding solutions to problems in everyday life. Examining the issue of critical thinking seems to be very essential not only for EFL learners but also for language teachers and syllabus designers. The main objective of this research is to investigate teachers’ level of use of critical thinking in the classroom. The population for this study is composed of Moroccan English language high school teachers. The population consisted of both males and females. A survey questionnaire was used to gather data. The quantitative data was analysed using descriptive statistics of means and percentages. The results indicated that the level of teachers’ use of critical thinking is (M=2,63). The average to poor results obtained by the participants concerning their level of use of critical thinking may have several distinctive interpretations. Therefore, further research is required to examine the relationship between teachers’ level of use of critical thinking and their attitudes
Language Teaching in the New Normal: A Comparative Study between Malaysia and Iraq
Covid-19 has a severe impact on the way we teach and learn today. As the global pandemic has severely impacted our education sector, adaptation is much needed in the way we teach and learn as we adapt to the new normal. This comparative study involves four sets of data involving two teachers from Malaysia and two teachers from Iraq. The researchers interviewed the respondents and sorted their feedbacks according to the themes of this study. The study reveals the differences and similarities in how teachers adapt to the new way of teaching English and teaching methods for receptive and productive English skills to high school students in both countries. It also reveals teachers’ opinions on using first language materials in their English teaching. The study highlights the teaching theories and principles applied by teachers in both countries in teaching in the new normal. The study also reveals that the respondents managed to adapt authentic teaching and learning materials for online teaching and revamped their lesson plans and timetables. The respondents also used the Telegram application to share teaching and learning materials and connect with their students. All respondents agree with the use of first language materials in teaching English and the role of teachers to motivate students in learning English in the new normal. Finally, the study reveals that all respondents from both countries manage to adapt to the new teaching method in the pandemic
An Exploration of the Situation of Educational Technology Infrastructure in Sudanese General Education: A Case Study
In the last two decades, policymakers have considered Educational Technology Infrastructure (ETI) as a prerequisite for the successful implementation of Educational Technology Policies (ETP). This study aims to measure the situation of ETI in Sudan and display its importance in supporting ETP. Content analysis is used to demonstrate how specific attention is paid by US, UK, and China toward ETI as a crucial element in their ETP implementation, and how several factors are then determined to assess the infrastructure in Sudan based on experiences that the US, China, and World Bank have obtained. These include policies towards ETI; electricity supply; schools or classrooms connected to the internet; the ratio of students to computers; internet speed; and availability of digital resources. Recent years have witnessed e-learning projects and digital resources under construction by the Sudanese National Center for Curricula and Educational Research (NCCER) and UNICEF, but Sudan still faces various ETI problems, including (1) a lack of policy and vision towards ETI in Sudan; (2) Sudan’s ETI challenge of being a developing economy; (3) a sizable population living in areas without electricity coverage; (4) a low ratio of student to computer usage in public high schools (merely about 28:1). We conclude with proposing several workable solutions for improving the current situation of ETI in Sudan
An Access Control System for Covid19 Using Computer Vision and Deep Learning Techniques: A Aystematic Review
After the emergence of the Coronavirus disease (Covid19) in December, 2019 the virus was confirmed by the World Health Organization (WHO) to be a dangerous virus that spread through airborne and droplets. One of the most effective way of preventing the spread of this virus is the use of facemask in public places such as banks, shopping mall, schools, offices and the likes. For this reasons people are advised to use facemask whenever they go out for their daily activities. However, some people have refused to wear the facemask in public places, thereby increasing the rate at which the virus spreads. Hence, there is a need to design an access control system for use in public places to grant access to people complying with the facemask regulations or deny access to those faulting them. Literature has shown that the use of computer vision and deep learning technology can play important role in the deployment of such access control system for face detection and facemask detection. A Deep Learning Approach-FDNN: Forest Deep Neural Network to Predict Cow’s Parturition Date
In this prospective study, we integrate neural network architecture with a supervised random forest feature detector to develop a new model named Forest Deep Neural Network (FDNN) to predict daily and hourly calving time of cattle. To overcome challenges of prediction problems like data sparsity along with unknown correlation structures, we incorporate the benefits of random forest (RF) with a deep neural network (DNN) to predict the daily and hourly calving time of cattle, which is nobody done yet. For this study, we take a total of 45 Holstein-Friesian cows (27 primiparous and 18 multiparous) for collecting physical activities. Using IceQube and HR Tag technologies, we record daily and hourly lying time, the number of stand-ups, ruminating time, the number of steps, and the number of head moves of cattle from 15 days before the actual calving time. Different statistical analysis has been carried out over the daily and hourly-captured data, and we have found that these monitored physical activities change very significantly over time. We have applied five classifiers such as FDNN, DNN, RF, decision tree (DT), and support vector machine (SVM) over the daily and hourly datasets. Hyperparameter optimization has been conducted over the classifiers using Grid Search approach to filter out the optimal parameter configurations. With optimal parameters, our developed model overpowered the other four classifiers in terms of accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and ROC score (ACC= 98.38, SN=88.19, SP=98.41, and ROC=99 of predicting daily calving time; ACC=97.93, SN=97.40, SP=89.42, and ROC=98 of predicting hourly calving time)
DETERMINANTS OF AUDIT QUALITY IN GOVERNMENTAL INSTITUTIONS
This study investigates the factors that impact the quality of government internal audit workpaper review. Numerous concerns have been expressed about the quality of government audits in recent years. Audit quality is much debated, but little understood; and there is little agreement, given the concept 's diversity, on how audit quality should be interpreted, let alone assessed. Audit standard vision may rely heavily on what eyes one looks. Consumers, auditors, policymakers, and other stakeholders can have somewhat different opinions about what defines audit quality, which may affect the type of metrics that can be used to assess audit quality. The presumption in international literature on culture and audit procedure is that culture influences the audit environment, and consequently the audit process outcome. The theoretical model suggested different variables in the above literature review. Several factors in various work environments affect audit results, but based on little empirical research, Yemen 's government audit service. The importance of these factors impacting audit performance of the Avi Yemeni government sector must be discussed. The goal behind quality assurance is to help ensure that audit product and services follow proven international best practices and stakeholder expectations, as opposed to criticising individual audit processes. The results of the study found that performance, legislation, training and top management had an impact on effectiveness
Negotiating in Migration and Environmental change: Experiences of Khmer communities in the Mekong delta, Vietnam
This paper reviews how Khmer people in the Vietnamese Mekong delta negotiate for their sustainable livelihood in the context of environmental change and urbanization and how potentially environmental change impacts their out-migration patterns. The concept of social risks and social networks will be developed, which is defined as how local people have been vulnerable in place of origin and destination and how they respond to enhance their socio-economic resilience. Therefore, the impacts of environmental change and urbanization can also be considered the main reasons for local people's short- and long-term mobility in vulnerable regions. The starting point of this paper will overview the migration and environmental change at the global level and rural-urban migration pattern, followed by analyzing these relevant concepts to clarify the research problem. Subsequently, the overview of the fundamental knowledge of migration in Vietnam can be understood by considering their historical process as a whole. On the other hand, to understand local people's vulnerability under this circumstance, the research investigates the social risks and its consequences for locals and migrants in general, particularly for Khmer people in the Vietnamese Mekong delta, concerning their social networks and cultural value

The Evidentiality through reported speech: Pragma-linguistic factors affecting its reliability
This study focuses on reportative evidential that contains statements of a specific and commonly known individual with interlocutors regarding the quality of evidence s/he claimed to have, his/her trustworthiness as a person, linguistic markers, turn designs, emotional state, epistemic authority, as factors which determine the reliability of information vouched through reported speech. We collected 28 conversations in which informants were asked to convey information derived from someone well or weakly known. Topics were chiefly related to events expected to occur, films and other informative assertions. Then, respondents delivered their main reasons about (not) trusting the reported speech/speaker and regarding the modals within RS or in the assessment part. They were urged to share common conclusions about its reliability. We found out that epistemological assessment of reported speech originally derived by a well-known person is crucially related to the reported speaker’s usual shown sincerity, words chosen, while of a weakly known individual with his/her competency and quality of evidence, which can define the information as “first-hand” or not worth considering
