Speech act of claiming among Cameroonian and Chadian French speakers
This article examines the ways in which Cameroonian and Chadian speakers are producing the speech act of claiming. The study focuses on situations in which the speaker occupies the position of claimant. The aim of the study is to describe the main pragmatic variations between the two groups of speakers. The methodological approach is based on variational pragmatics. The results show that the strategies are similar, but there are strong differences in the types of formulations and mitigation strategies. The results indicate that the Cameroonian data presented more indirect realisations of acts than the Chadian data. Participants from both language communities used a variety of markers to modify their claims. External modifications typically included politeness forms, forms of address, apologies, justifications, greetings and thanks. Internal modifications also included modalisers and minimisers

Passive Voice Teaching: Recent Trends and Effective Strategies
This study investigates current practices and useful methods for teaching passive voice. To find effective teaching strategies, a thorough review of the literature produced between 2018 and 2024 was undertaken. Using keywords associated with passive voice instruction, data was gathered from academic sources, and thirty pertinent papers were chosen for examination. The Experience, Generalization, Reinforcement, Application (EGRA) method, task-based learning, cooperative learning, flashcards, and web-based storytelling are just a few of the successful teaching techniques that thematic analysis identified. These strategies improve learning outcomes, comprehension, and student engagement. It was stressed that context-based learning is crucial to knowing when and how to employ passive voice. It has been discovered that technology, especially web-based storytelling, increases student engagement and recall of material. Students' memory and understanding were also enhanced by the Jigsaw method and inductive training. In general, it was discovered that teaching passive voice may be accomplished effectively using a range of teaching techniques, such as active learning and technology integration. To learn more about these strategies' long-term consequences and how they affect different student demographics, more study is required
A-stable optimal hybrid linear multistep formulas in Runge-Kutta form and their application to dynamical systems
A-stable optimal hybrid Linear Multistep Formulas (LMFs) are developed and reformulated as RungeKutta-type schemes because of their excellent properties in handling the numerical solution of stiff differentialequations. The LMFs are obtained using collocation and interpolation techniques and are reformulated asRunge-Kutta-type schemes via Butcher tableau. The resulting methods, when analyzed, have algebraic ordersix, and the A-stability characteristics of the proposed schemes are established. Newton’s algorithm wasadopted to handle the implicit nature of the suggested methods. The reformulated schemes are applied toLorenz, Chau, Rossler, and Chen systems and four other standard stiff problems in the cited literature. Acomparative study between the new method and the Dormand Prince scheme, popularly called ode45 inMatrix Laboratory (MatLab), is presented. The experiments demonstrate the latest methods’ performance, indicating their potential for high accuracy and competitiveness with other established codes
Fixed Point Results in Archimedean Type Neutrosophic b-Metric Spaces
This paper defines Archimedean, Caristi-Krirk balls, and Neutrosophic b metric space (Nb-MS). Usingthe Archimedean idea and complete Nb-MS, we have shown the existence of a shared fixed point usingtwo self-mappings and an upper semicontinuous function. We have demonstrated the existence of a fixed point by employing a k-continuous self-map and an upper semi-continuous function in conjunction with the Archimedean notion and complete Nb-MS. Furthermore, we have proven the completeness of the space by using Archimedean, Nb-MS, and a k-continuous self-map.MSC 2010: 47H10
Investigating the Linguistic Fingerprint of GPT-4o in Arabic-to-English Translation Using Stylometry
This study explores the linguistic and stylistic characteristics of machine-generated texts, focusing on the output of GPT-4o. Using various natural language processing (NLP) techniques, including word frequency and stopword count analysis, readability and sentence structure metrics, lexical diversity measures, syntactic frequency analysis, and named entity recognition (NER), the research aims to uncover the stylometric fingerprints present in machine-generated content. The results reveal that GPT-4ogenerated texts exhibit moderate lexical diversity and syntactic complexity, with certain chapters reflecting higher readability and more varied sentence structures, while others lean toward simpler linguistic patterns. The findings also highlight thematic variation across chapters, as observed in the distribution of named entities, which contributes to understanding the model’s handling of different contextual content.
The research suggests that while GPT-4o maintains a consistent style in its generated text, there are distinguishable characteristics that may serve as indicators of machine authorship. This provides valuable insights for stylometric analysis, authorship attribution, and the identification of machine-generated texts in various contexts. Future research could extend this work by exploring deeper stylometric features, conducting cross-model comparisons, and developing advanced authorship detection algorithms tailored for AI-generated content. Moreover, the ethical implications of stylometric analysis in the context of AI-generated texts warrant further investigation, particularly as machine-generated content becomes increasingly prevalent across different domains

Examining Theories at Work: Speech Acts, Implicatures and Politeness in a Pragmastylistic Analysis of Anton Chekhov’s The Bear
Through a descriptive qualitative method, Anton Chekhov’s The Bear is examined for its use of speech acts, implicatures, and politeness. To surface the said theories, a stylistic analysis is conducted, following the principles of pragma-stylistics. Pragmastylistics is used in analyzing a literary piece towards arriving at particular themes, and in which the focus of analysis is how a speaker or writer chooses to realize their speech act in consideration of the intended meaning and effect of which towards an audience. The subject of the following analysis is a one-act play considered to be a farcical comedy depicting the story of a woman mourning her husband’s recent death, amidst which she encounters and eventually falls in love with her deceased husband’s creditor. The analyses focused on the employment of the pragmatic theories of speech acts, cooperative principles and implicatures, and politeness. The paper attempted ultimately to show through an analysis of dramatic text how words could mean differently or even have meanings at all when put into context
A Pragmatic Analysis of Ostensible Invitations among Moroccan Arabic Speakers
Unlike genuine invitations, which are extended with a sincere intent to get the invitee to attend or participate in a specific event, ostensible invitations are insincere invitations that the speaker extends not to be taken seriously. Such invitations are characterized by a number of properties that set them apart from genuine ones, allowing the interlocutor to recognize their insincerity. The present paper aims to determine the functions of ostensible invitations in the Moroccan context, examine if Moroccan Arabic speakers use the same strategies suggested by Clark and Isaacs (1990) for extending ostensible invitations and assess whether the ostensible invitations extended by Moroccan Arabic speakers draw on the properties proposed by Clark and Isaacs (1990). To this end, data for the current study were collected from 30 Moroccan Arabic speakers residing in Meknes city, comprising 18 females and 12 males, who have managed to participate in semi-structured interviews. Phenomenological and descriptive designs were used for the collection, analysis and interpretation of data. The collected data were analyzed on the basis of Clark and Isaacs’ (1990) model. Accordingly, the present study came up with three primary conclusions. First, Moroccan Arabic speakers use ostensible invitations mainly to show politeness and maintain social ties. Second, invitations in the Moroccan context align with the five properties of ostensible speech acts suggested by Clark and Isaacs’ (1990) model. Last but not least, Moroccan Arabic speakers draw on the same strategies of ostensible invitations proposed by Clark and Isaacs (1990)
