Agroforestry systems are a sustainable management alternative for land degraded by conventional agriculture in the Peruvian Amazon, this could prevent further deforestation of forests and the loss of more ecosystems. The tree component in agroforestry systems makes them more similar to natural forests than many other land use systems such as pastures, monocultures, among others. This characteristic also affects the carbon sequestration potential of agroforestry systems, since they represent a considerable carbon sink both above and below ground. Consequently, it can represent a considerable economic income from carbon credits, which is an international decontamination mechanism to reduce polluting emissions to the environment, with a relatively new market and with great relevance in mitigating climate change. In this sense, the carbon stored in the aerial biomass of seven agroforestry systems established more than 16 years ago at the San Bernardo Agricultural Experimental Station (EEA) was quantified and economically valued. The diameter of fruit and forest species was used as input for the allometric equations that allowed us to estimate biomass and carbon stored in the tree component of agroforestry systems. The seven agroforestry systems of the EEA San Bernardo have a total of 483.81 Mg of carbon stored in their aerial biomass.

ABOVE-GROUND NET PRIMARY PRODUCTIVITY AND RAIN USE EFFICIENCY OF Megathyrsus maximus PASTORAL SYSTEMS: CASE STUDY OF EL 14 ESTABLISHMENT, DEPARTAMENTO MORENO, SANTIAGO DEL ESTERO, ARGENTINA
The objectives of this work were: to delimit the growing seasons of the M. maximus pastoral systems in El 14 establishment, Departamento Moreno, Santiago del Estero, Argentina, in the 2000-2021 period using time series of NDVIMODIS and threshold 0.5 NDVIRATIO; to quantify their aboveground net primary productivity (ANPP) and their responses to seasonal rainfall anomalies; to quantify the rain use efficiency (RUE), relate it to seasonal rainfall and determine its trend in the period. Growing seasons (GS) start in November and end in May. Significant differences were found in the ANPP of GS with anomalies positive and negative of seasonal rainfall. ANPP recovers after GS with negative rainfall anomalies, evidencing their resilience capacity after extreme weather events. The RUE had a high negative trend in the period. Significant differences were found in the RUE and seasonal rainfall. Most of RUE are related to the normal range of rainfall for the study area. In turn, growing season with lowest RUE were related to rainfall ≥ 700 mm. Seasonal rainfall of 700 mm could be considered the threshold in the loss of water of pastoral systems. Anthropic activities like deforestation and livestock, added to shifts in seasonal storm in intensity/magnitude, number of rainy, timing and frequency, they would contribute to the loss of large amounts of water by surface runoff in the study area. The local information obtained enables the implementation of appropriate management strategies in order to mitigate extreme climatic adversities. PERSPECTIVAS DEL MANEJO DE LA FAUNA EN AMÉRICA LATINA
Wildlife management as an applied science is new in Latin America. Although there were some previous pioneering cases, as in the case of guano birds in Peru, most programs and projects were initiated only in the 1960s and especially in the 1970s, when specialized academic training also began. Currently, there are wildlife management operations in all countries of the region. However, the vast majority of them have conservation purposes, i.e. they are carried out to recover populations of rare or endangered species and/or to stimulate tourism. They are not done to stimulate economic and social development through the production of meat and other products that can be marketed, although in some cases this may occur. One of the few exceptions is the already widespread management of Amazonian River turtles, which serves to improve the food supply of riverine populations. Another is sport hunting, which is still tolerated in a few countries, such as Argentina. The main obstacle to the application of conventional wildlife management is the distorted environmental information that society receives and its consequent strong opposition to hunting, which it considers inhumane and dangerous for the species. On the other hand, influenced by the society´s attitude, wildlife policies and laws are deficient and inefficient, and illegal hunting and wildlife trafficking are widespread. The future of wildlife management for direct economic purposes in the region does not look favorable. Its greatest possibilities are found mainly in portions of natural ecosystems that are not very inhabited, especially tropical forests, for the benefit of indigenous and rural populations, where hunting for sustenance is currently practiced in an unregulated manner.
The main objective of this article is to analyze the linguistic policies regarding a viso-gestural language: Peruvian Sign Language or LSP. Currently, the Ministry of Culture oversees the linguistic policies of the country’s native languages; however, although LSP could be considered native, it is not and does not fall under the linguistic policies of the Ministry of Culture. On the other hand, the Ministry of Women oversees the LSP language policies; however, it has not worked much in favor of the LSP. The article concludes that if the LSP were considered a native language, many gaps in language policies could be resolved.
Botrytis cinerea Pers. (B.C.) is the phytopathogen responsible for a wide range of symptom in crops of great importance, such as tomato. Fungicide application are mainly used to control this pathogen; however, their excessive use leads to the development of resistant strains, environmental pollution, and harmful effects on human health. Thus, the aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of two foliar fertilizers contain copper, zinc, and citric acid to reduce gray mold B.C. damage in “Huascarán” tomato plants. In laboratory conditions, the effects of the foliar fertilizers on the inhibition of mycelial growth at 6 DAI (days after inoculation) with poisoned PDA (Potato Dextrose Agar) medium were evaluated; and in the field conditions, the foliar fertilizers were sprayed by eight weeks varying the application frequency in one and two weeks. The results showed that in laboratory condition the citric acid improved the antifungal activity complementing well with the Cu and Zn particles presenting T3 the better percentage of mycelial growth inhibition. Under field conditions, most of the foliar applications had a significant control of B.C. on foliage but not on flowers and fruits; especially when foliar fertilizers were applied weekly. These results are important to develop strategies to improve disease control and to decrease excessive use of fungicides.

Biogas is one of the best alternatives to produce renewable energy, it uses the waste from agribusiness as the main substrate for its formation. However, when producing significant amounts of biogas, large amounts of biol are generated; solar radiation and environmental oxygen are used to disinfect this compound. To guarantee the desired disinfection, it is necessary to know the kinetics of the death of Enterobacteriaceae by solar radiation and atmospheric oxygen. The objective of this scientific article was to model the disinfection kinetics of the biol, calculating the incidence of accumulated radiation per m ^ 3 of biol, obtained as a by-product of biogas formation, from pig slurry and 1:10 water. Through an analysis of variance (ANOVA) and a multiple comparison test of the treatments using the Tukey test, the synergistic effect of solar radiation and atmospheric oxygen for the solar inactivation of enterobacteria was determined. It was found that to achieve optimal solar disinfection in the biol, its turbidity must be reduced, separating the liquid phase and diluting it with water 1:3. The separation of the phases carried out in the present study reached a volume of 56 per cent with respect to the total volume, retaining 36 and 49 per cent of nitrogen and phosphorus, respectively, of the total volume. With the liquid phase of the biol, a turbidity level (NTU) of 365 was obtained. From this, it was concluded that the atmospheric conditions were appropriate to reduce the load of enterobacteria, reaching the detection limit after 10 hours, with a cumulative radiation of 209.8 watts per m3 of biol. The biocidal effect started from 40 watts per m3 of accumulated radiation biol.
Agriculture and Deforestation in the Peruvian Amazon: A Bibliometric Review
The study presents a comprehensive bibliometric review of the literature that explores the vital connection between agriculture and deforestation in the Peruvian Amazon. The review included a systematic search of the Scopus, SciELO, and Dialnet databases, as well as Google Scholar, resulting in 1064 records, with 64 selected for the review. The documents were obtained from various sources and involved 161 contributing authors, mainly affiliated with institutions in Peru and focused on agricultural sciences. The collected documents spanned a wide time frame from 1940 to the present, covering 11 departments and utilizing both qualitative and quantitative research methods, with a notable emphasis on Geographic Information Systems (GIS). However, the review identified a significant concentration in certain variables, such as 93.8% of the documents being from Scopus and Google Scholar. It is worth noting that Google Scholar substantially increased the size of the document corpus. The review also highlighted a predominant focus on Ucayali (23) and Loreto (15) and the twenty-first century. Recommendations include (i) giving priority to the use of Google Scholar in future reviews, (ii) conducting further studies in less-studied Amazon departments, particularly those experiencing significant deforestation such as Huánuco and San Martín, and (iii) delving into the historical perspective to facilitate discussions regarding the relevance for the Peruvian Amazon of impactful events concerning the national agricultural sector
Advances of studies on natural resource economics in Peru: 2016-2021
This review contains several economic investigations on natural resources from 2016-2021. Most of these researchers relate this research biodiversity and ecosystem services. In the latter case, most of it comes from a thesis. A lot of studies come from public universities, which is an encouraging detail; however, less than half of such studies have managed to be published in a scientific journal. These results show the growing interest of academics in several topics, such as the environmental management of natural resources.
