Bohater mityczny w Matce Ziemi Piotra Złotorowicza
In his etude Mother Earth Piotr Złotorowicz forms the narrative around the mythical hero. The main character Maciek gains the entirety of mythical fulfi llment due to being shaped by (1) space of the execution of the film narration’s subject (indicated by the opposition of home area and garden area), (2) space around him (indicated by sublimed functioning of touch), (3) inability to identify with his own community (indicated by rejecting the butchery tradition of his family), (4) inability to act different than how it was shown (indicated by numerous similarities to Jesus Christ). In his etude Mother Earth Piotr Złotorowicz forms the narrative around the mythical hero. „Znane” i nieznane produkcje przedwojennego polskiego kina. Halka Konstantego Meglickiego i Sportowiec mimo woli Mieczysława Krawicza
There are many Polish films from the pre-war period that are not known to the public today. Most oft en they simply did not make it to modern times or only fragments are preserved, their condition too poor to allow utilization. One of such films is Halka, directed by Konstanty Meglicki in 1929, which due to digital restoration has returned to the screen in November 2016, after decades-long break. In recent years, however, it’s been discovered that even some seemingly well-known films should in fact be considered unknown. Due to the research conducted at the National Film Archives, new facts came to light, revealing lost film fragments or alternative versions. One such example is a film from 1939 called Sportowiec mimo woli, until now only known for its post-war American adaptation, turns out to be very different from the unknown original version. Polish pre-war cinema, which was often treated with some disdain, is now perceived in a very different light. And recent discoveries allow us to re-examine the achievements of the early period of Polish cinematography. There are many Polish films from the pre-war period that are not known to the public today. Sztuka permutacyjna jako forma oporu w kinie eksperymentalnym
Permutation Art as a Form of Resistance in Experimental CinemaThis study aims to present two examples of permutation films as forms through which experimental cinema resisted the reality of the 1970s. The analysis is based on two works by members of the Workshop of the Film Form: “1, 2, 3... Cinematographers Exercise” by Paweł Kwiek and “Apnoea” by Wojciech Bruszewski. Analysis and comparison of the two oeuvres is performed with the use of methods characteristic for these types of cinematic forms. This work also discusses the idea and historical context of permutation art and presents its relationship with particular current activities in the field of art.Permutation Art as a Form of Resistance in Experimental CinemaThis study aims to present two examples of permutation films as forms through which experimental cinema resisted the reality of the 1970s. Wielkie figury semantyczne w dziele filmowym
Great semantic figures in filmThis study is devoted to the key issue for any research on film, film art and audiovisual communication - great semantic figures. Marek Hendrykowski extrapolates the repertoire of basic concepts developed for decades in literary science (author, reader, narrator, narration, character, time, space, events, plot, style, composition, etc.) into academic film studies. Following important scientific ideas formulated half a century ago by the eminent literary theorist Janusz Slawinski, Hendrykowski stresses that the scientific sense of using these categories is not limited only to cataloguing them.Great semantic figures in filmThis study is devoted to the key issue for any research on film, film art and audiovisual communication - great semantic figures. Presented pictures are part of longer series. They were taken in many different places. My photographs help me to understand the world and myself. I do not follow any specific topic but I do believe in being able to communicate without it. My life and my photography are both a constant confrontation with my emotions. They make me feel closer to my soul and to the nature. I find it very helpful as what scares me the most is the lack of emotions
Filmowe rejestracje teatru - opis i problematyzacje zjawiska
Film Recordings of Theater – Description and ProblematisationsThe paper attempts to distinguish film recordings of theater from the TV theater genre. The decisive criterion for this distinction proposed by the author is the chronology of the production process - film recordings of theater performances provide a record of pre-existing theater performances, whereas TV theatre includes all theatre-like productions created for the small screen and which do not have their own stage ‘odginali In each of these cases there are different tasks and difficulties facing producers and executors. The next part of the article focuses on film recordings of theater: the reasons for which they are made (documentation, dissemination, promotion) and the differences between their types. Referring to the work of Jacek Wachowski, the author also presents a brief discussion about the possibilities and consequences of technical mediation of any performances, not only theatrical shows. The article concludes with an attempt to define the status of the film recording of a performance in relation to its original theatrical nature (the “residuum of the theater”).Film Recordings of Theater – Description and ProblematisationsThe paper attempts to distinguish film recordings of theater from the TV theater genre. Satyra na dogmat? „Strategia przewrotności” w Dogmie Kevina Smitha
Satire on dogma? The strategy of subversion in Kevin Smith’s DogmaReligious themes which appear in the cinema in a fashion that differs from the classical view of Bible stories often become problematic for the audience, especially its more religious members, who find such movies blasphemous and sacrilegious. At the same time, it seems that the aim of many such works is not to act against religion, but rather to show the truths of faith in a new perspective. This kind of approach, described as a “strategy of subversion“ based on the affirmation by illusory negation, can be found in the way Kevin Smith created his Dogma (1999). The aim of this article is to examine those aspects of Dogma, which on the one hand undermine the dogmatic character of religion and the commercialization of the Catholic Church, and on the other, expose and emphasize the senses of faith and cultivating religion lying underneath the pop culture in a ostensibly profane form.Satire on dogma? Aktorzy filmowi, aktorzy teatralni? Polski rynek aktorski ostatnich lat
Film actors, theatre actors? The Polish actors’ market in recent yearsThe author of the paper analyzes the career paths of Polish film and theater actors in recent years, taking account of social and institutional changes in Polish theater and cinema after 1989. On this basis, current three strategies present in the acting profession are identified: Courtier, Byplay and Celebrity. These three groups are highlighted depending on actors’ artistic achievements and accu- mulated symbolic capital. The main thesis of the article is that leading film actors, who are most successful on the big screen, forsake engagement in theater. While describing this regularity, the author provides specific examples of actresses and actors - eg. Magdalena Cielecka, Andrzej Chyra, Jacek Poniedziałek and Agnieszka Grochowska. The article concludes with considerations about the various reasons why Polands market for film actors and the theater market have split in recent years.Film actors, theatre actors? Filmowe baśnie wyczerpane. Wpływ postmodernizmu na przeobrażenia filmowych adaptacji baśni produkcji Disneya
Film fairy tales exhausted. The impact of postmodernism on the change in Disney film adaptations of fairy talesThe author gives attention to the issue of modern adaptations of fairy tales produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The three selected films: The Princess and the Frog (2009), Tangled (2010) and Frozen (2013) show the changes taking place in the sphere of axiology and the aesthetics in animated fairy tale films under the influence of postmodern trends. She notes that the intertextual dialogue takes place not only at the literature-film level, but also between earlier and later adaptations. On the basis of this analysis, she tries to determine the type of viewer to whom the newly-created message is addressed.Film fairy tales exhausted. The impact of postmodernism on the change in Disney film adaptations of fairy talesThe author gives attention to the issue of modern adaptations of fairy tales produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios.
