Word-Formation Description and Morphological Status of Intensifiers in Norwegian
The author analyses the morphological status of some Norwegian prefixes and first-words of compounds which convey the semantic feature of intensification: The status is hard to establish due to the incessant process of transition of independent words into affixes. After discussing the complex nature of word-formation analysis the author puts forward a hypothesis that the primary concern of word-formation studies should be meaning
Spräktabu og tabuomräder i norsk
The aim of the article is to present the various aspects of language taboo in Norwegian. The author tries to account for the term "language taboo" and draw some kind of distinction between the primiive "taboo of fear", the evolving "taboo of delicacy" and "taboo of proriety" in modem Norwegian. The latter has a social background and ranges from statements with a slightly vulgar tinge to extremely offenive acts of verbal abuse regarded as Face Threatening Acts. Social taboos generally include the deity, sex, excretion and strangers. In the conclusions the author underlines that taboo in Norwegian remains a little explored area and suggests a possible approach to a comprehensive analysis of the phenomenon. Further research in this field seems to be a necessity and should comprise both the anthropological, semantic and functional aspects of taboo, both within the culture and the language

Om Sverige i polsk press 1989-1999
An analysis o f articles about Sweden which have appeared in the Polish press from 1989 to 1999 makes it possible to distinguish the most frequent subjects chosen by Polish journalists. These subjects include the unsolved case of the assassination of Olof Palme, the drawbacks of the Swedish welfare state, the controversies connected with Swedish neutrality, the discussions on how far equality can go and the problems of a multicultural country; as well as Swedish peculiarities such as alcohol policy, liberal morals, the position of the Church in a secularized society and the attachment to the monarchy. This article covers several examples o f these most popular topics. It also examines the way in which they have been presented, with regard to the traditional perception of Sweden by Poles as well as to the sense of Polish national identity noticeable in the journalists’ comments. The problems connected with these issues are discussed in greater detail in the author’s doctoral thesis in the chapter which deals with the perception of Sweden in Poland

Personal nouns in -ist in Danish vs. -ist(a) and -yst(a) in Polish
The paper deals with the word-formation analysis of Danish personal nouns in -ist and their formal counterparts in -ist/a/ and yst/a/ in Polish. The analysis is based on Bzdęga’s binary model. The Danish suffix -ist is usually tacked on to nouns though some deadjectival derivatives can also be found. Some personal nouns with the above suffixes have parallel forms with the same meaning. Some Danish personal nouns in -ist have no Polish equivalents though there exist relevant bases in Polish. Numerous Polish derivatives in -ist/a / and -yst/a/ are rendered by compounds in Danish
Das Warten auf – Geschichte und Funktionswandel eines literarischen Topos von Solveigs Lied bis Hjalmar Bergmans Herr von Hancken
My contribution deals with the changing aspects of the situation of "Waiting for ..." as a literary topie in the Scandinavian literaturę from Ibsen\u27s "Peer Gynt" to Hjalmar Bergmans novel "Herr von Hancken" - with a subseąent outlook on the reuse of the motif in the time between the two world wars. The analysis of important works of Scandinavian Hterature during this period - including works of Ibsen, Strindberg, Lagerlof, Hj. Bergman, H. Aanrud - shows very clearly that the main characters as a conseąuence of the loss of the intended or expected object are inclined to transform their reality and thus replace the empty position of the object with the most phantastic projections of a secondary, artificiel world which has no similarity with the empirical world of common experience. On the contrary. Due to the subjecfs free disposal over the object-area it is possible for them to create a fictional world which approaches the world of madness and in which the authors are expressing the crisis and the solitude of human beeing under the conditions of modem society.
