Fostering organizational commitment: The impact of meaningful work and work engagement among millennial employee

    No full text
Millennials tend to have lower organizational commitment than previous generations, which often leads them to change jobs more frequently. Both meaningful work and work engagement have been identified as predictors of organizational commitment. This suggests that organizations can improve employee retention and commitment by enhancing the meaningfulness of work and increasing work engagement. This study involved 118 millennial employees as participants. The instruments employed were the Organizational Commitment Scale, the Meaningful Work Scale, and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings demonstrate a significant positive relationship in which meaningful work and work engagement collectively correlate with organizational commitment. The results also indicate that work engagement contributed 34.5% to organizational commitment, which is higher than the 29.3% contribution of meaningful work. This suggests that although both factors are important, work engagement plays a slightly more substantial role in strengthening organizational commitment. Overall, enhancing the meaningfulness of employees’ roles and fostering higher work engagement may increase organizational commitment

A Moderated Mediation Analysis of Islamic Bank Stability in Asian OIC Countries

    No full text
Purpose: This study investigates the relationship between asset diversification and Islamic bank stability by incorporating profitability as a mediating variable and managerial ownership as a moderating variable. The study aims to determine whether diversification contributes to financial resilience and whether internal governance mechanisms reinforce this effect. Methodology/approach: Using panel data from Islamic banks in OIC Asian countries during 2020–2024, the analysis applies Hayes’ PROCESS Model 15, allowing the simultaneous examination of mediation and moderation effects within a single analytical framework. Findings: The results show that managerial ownership plays a decisive role in influencing Islamic bank stability, with evidence pointing to a destabilizing governance effect. Conversely, asset diversification and profitability do not demonstrate a meaningful relationship with stability. Additional analysis indicates that profitability does not mediate the diversification stability nexus, and managerial ownership does not condition these relationships. These findings highlight the dominant role of governance incentives over diversification strategies in explaining stability outcomes among Islamic banks. Practical implications: The study enriches the agency–governance discourse in Islamic finance and offers policy insights for strengthening the long-term resilience of Islamic banks. Originality/value: The research introduces a moderated mediation framework integrating diversification, profitability, and managerial ownership using Hayes’ PROCESS Model 15 in the context of OIC Asian Islamic banks

The impact of helicopter parenting on grit and mental well-being among university students

    No full text
University students experience increasing academic and developmental demands that require psychological resources to support persistence and well-being. Parenting experiences, particularly helicopter parenting characterized by excessive parental involvement and control, may influence these psychological outcomes. This study aimed to examine the impact of helicopter parenting on grit and mental well-being among university students. Using a non-experimental quantitative design, data were collected from 324 undergraduate students aged 17 to 29 years who resided on the island of Java. Participants completed measures of helicopter parenting, grit, and mental well-being. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression with a bootstrapping procedure to obtain robust estimates. The results showed that helicopter parenting had a statistically significant but weak negative impact on grit, indicating that higher parental overinvolvement was associated with slightly lower perseverance and consistency of effort. In contrast, helicopter parenting did not show a significant impact on mental well-being. These findings suggest that helicopter parenting influences specific motivational traits rather than overall psychological well-being. This study highlights that the impact of helicopter parenting among university students is limited and domain-specific, emphasizing the importance of examining distinct psychological outcomes when evaluating parenting influences during emerging adulthood

Setiap unit berisi 5 ekor ayam. Perlakuan meliputi P0 = Ransum tanpa tepung daun lamtoro dan tepung jahe, P1= Ransum mengandung 2% tepung daun lamtoro + 0,5% tepung jahe, P2 = Ransum mengandung 4% tepung daun lamtoro +1% tepung jahe, P3 = Ransum mengandung 6% tepung daun lamtoro + 1,5% tepung jahe.

    No full text
Introduction: Knee osteoarthritis is a prevalent degenerative condition that leads to chronic pain, reduced quadriceps strength, and impaired functional activity. This study examined the effects of Closed Kinetic Chain Exercise (CKCE) combined with infrared therapy on pain reduction, quadriceps strength, and functional improvement in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Methods: A quasi-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design was conducted at Dr. Soeharso Orthopedic Hospital, Central Java. Assessments included Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) for quadriceps strength, the Numerical Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) for pain, and the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) for functional activity. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test and paired t-tests. Results: The results demonstrated significant reductions in pain (p < 0.001) and improvements in functional activity (p < 0.001) and quadriceps strength (p = 0.002) following the intervention. Conclusion: These findings suggest that CKCE combined with infrared therapy is an effective physiotherapy modality to enhance muscle performance, alleviate pain, and promote functional independence in knee osteoarthritis management

Big data and artificial intelligence on fraud detection: the mediating role of fraud awareness

    No full text
Purpose:  This research aims to examine the influence of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence on Fraud Detection and analyze the role of Fraud Awareness as a mediating variable in strengthening these relationships in modern auditing practices. Methodology/approach: The sample for this research consists of auditors working at Big Four Public Accounting Firms. The sampling method used a purposive sampling technique with a total of 65 respondents. This study uses primary data obtained from respondents’ questionnaire responses. The data analysis in this research employs the SmartPLS method using a Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach. Findings:  The research results show that Big Data has a positive impact on fraud detection and fraud awareness, whereas Artificial Intelligence has no significant effect on either of these areas. Fraud awareness enhances fraud detection and partially mediates the effect of Big Data, but does not mediate the effect of Artificial Intelligence. Practical and Theoretical contribution/Originality: This research integrates the Fraud Triangle Theory and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to explain that the effectiveness of audit technology sophistication in fraud detection depends not only on technological capability but also on auditors’ fraud awareness. Research Limitation:  This research is limited to a specific group of auditors, which restricts the generalizability of the findings. In addition, this study focuses solely on Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, and therefore does not consider other technological factors that may also influence the effectiveness of fraud detection

Integrating Economics and Spiritual Perspectives: Insights from the Writings of Imam Al-Ghazali

    No full text
This paper employs qualitative content analysis as its methodological framework, focusing on the seminal works of Imam Al-Ghazali. The study examines central themes in Imam Al-Ghazali’s writings to clarify the influence of spirituality on economic thought. The findings indicate that Imam Al-Ghazali advocates for an economic system grounded in spiritual responsibility and the pursuit of both material and spiritual fulfillment. This study adopts a qualitative design to examine al-Ghazali’s primary writings on economic thought and spirituality, and the library research enabling scholars to explore the evolution of economic ideas within their intellectual and historical contexts. The results underscore the ongoing relevance of Imam  Al-Ghazali’s insights in current economic discourse and highlight the importance of balancing material success with spiritual development as a solution to the problems of modern economies, which often emphasize materialism. The analysis demonstrates that integrating spiritual values into economic practices can address contemporary challenges and promote social responsibility, exemplified by mechanisms such as zakah and shadaqah, which serve as means to balance economic activity with spirituality. The results implied that dialogue between spirituality and economics, as articulated by Imam Al-Ghazali, provides a critical foundation for establishing a just and balanced society amid modern challenges

Teen dating and the Value Crisis in Junior and Senior High School Student Education

    No full text
The normalization of dating practices among junior and senior high school students indicates a shift in adolescents\u27 moral constructions amid the strong influence of popular culture and digital media. This phenomenon raises critical questions regarding the effectiveness of character education based on Islamic values, particularly in internalizing the value of iffah as a principle of self-control and moral integrity. Although character education has become a strategic agenda in the national education system, empirical studies that specifically link adolescents\u27 relational practices with the process of internalizing religious moral values remain relatively limited. Grounded in value internalization theory and moral development theory, this study aims to analyze how adolescents\u27 dating practices reflect the level of iffah value internalization and its implications for character formation. This research employs a qualitative approach with a field study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis involving students, teachers, and school stakeholders. Analysis was conducted using first-cycle coding techniques and thematic grouping to identify patterns in moral understanding, relational practices, and self-control mechanisms. The findings reveal a gap between normative understanding of iffah and the actualization of behavior in social relations. Most students understand iffah at the cognitive level, yet dating practices are viewed as part of identity formation and adolescents\u27 affective needs. This indicates that the value internalization process has not yet reached a stable stage of moral integration. This study affirms the need for a more transformative, contextual, and collaborative character education model to sustainably strengthen adolescents\u27 moral integrity
