The Effect of Alum, Tunjung, and Betel Lime Mordants on Ecoprinting Insulin Leaves Using Combined Pounding and Blanket Techniques on Yamaha Silk Dyed with Gambir Extract

The rapid growth of the textile industry has made it one of the largest contributors to environmental pollution, particularly through waste generated during the large-scale color refinement of synthetic textiles. A sustainable alternative to mitigate this issue is the use of eco-friendly textile dyeing methods such as ecoprint. This study aims to examine the effects of three mordant types—alum, ferrous sulfate (tunjung), and betel lime—on the ecoprint results of insulin leaves (Smallanthus sonchifolius) applied to Yamaha Silk fabric using a combination of pounding and blanket techniques. Employing a quantitative experimental method, the research used Yamaha Silk fabric ecoprinted with insulin leaves and gambier extract, treated with pre-mordanting. Primary data were collected from evaluations by 15 panelists (three lecturers and twelve students) through a questionnaire assessing various indicators. Data were analyzed using the Friedman K-Related Samples test via SPSS. The findings revealed that the color outcomes (hue) varied by mordant: without mordant produced a Golden Sundance color; alum resulted in Soft Brown; tunjung yielded Olive; and betel lime produced Dark Brown. Regarding motif clarity, alum mordant achieved the highest clarity, followed by no mordant, betel lime, and tunjung. A significant difference was observed among treatments for motif clarity (Asymp. Sig = 0.005 < 0.05). In terms of color fastness, after one washing, alum mordant maintained the most stable color, followed by tunjung and betel lime. Significant differences in color fastness were also recorded after two and three washings (p = 0.013, 0.036, and 0.004, respectively; all < 0.05). Overall, the use of alum mordant produced the best ecoprinting results on Yamaha Silk, yielding superior color intensity, motif clarity, and wash fastness. These results suggest that the ecoprinting technique, particularly with alum mordant, holds strong potential as an environmentally friendly alternative in sustainable textile production

A Taoist Interpretation: Qiemo (Stage Props) Produced Peking Opera Space

This research aims to explore the Taoist philosophical roots of the concept of “the unity of heaven and man” in the stage space of Peking opera, as created by Qiemo (stage props). It employs a case study approach, applies Lefebvre’s triadic spatial theory, and includes fieldwork at the Baoding Chinese Ancient Theater Museum. The findings reveal that the space formed by Qiemo reflects the dialectical relationship between heaven and humans. Specifically, the meaning of Qiemo is not fixed but is defined by the actor, symbolizing the human activation of the universe’s inherent meaning. Inspired by the natural order in Qiemo, actors strive for personal fulfillment, ultimately seeking to achieve “the unity of heaven and human“statue

Embodying Space through Improvisation in Site-Specific Dance Performance

Site-specific dance choreography develops as a direct reaction to a specific location’s unique physical, architectural, and cultural characteristics. Improvisation is significant in this context for enhancing the dancer’s bodily awareness of space. Previous studies have recognized the relationship between dancer and site; however, the role of improvisation in expressing the unique spatial characteristics of a performance site has not been adequately explored. This study investigates the role of improvisational techniques in enabling dancers to adapt, respond, and establish stronger connections with site-specific elements, including structural, environmental, historical, and emotional aspects. This research utilizes a qualitative methodology, incorporating descriptive analysis and in-depth interviews with five experienced, site-specific dance practitioners in Malaysia. The findings identify four key stages in which improvisation enhances spatial embodiment, clarifying the relationship between choreographers and performers with space as a dynamic and interactive element of their practice. This work contributes to the ongoing discussion on site-specific choreography by illustrating the evolving role of improvisation in enhancing the relationships between performers and their environments

Growth and Exploitation Rate of Mystus nigriceps

Mystus nigriceps is among the bagrid fish species that live in freshwater ecosystems, including Cicingguling River, Kebumen Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. Despite the economic importance and exploitation for food, the fish is rarely studied. Meanwhile, studies on the growth pattern and exploitation rate of M. nigriceps in the Cicingguling River are important because the population is also affected by river fragmentation due to reservoir development. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the growth pattern and exploitation rate of M. nigriceps in the Cicingguling River. Sampling was carried out using the purposive random sampling method in the Cicingguling River. A total of 9 stations were divided into 3 zones for 1 year, with a frequency of 12 times and an interval of once a month. The results showed that a length-weight relationship had an average b-value of 3.11, indicating a positive allometric pattern (b>3). The condition factor of female M. nigriceps (2.404) was higher than that of male fish (2.06). Total mortality (Z) was estimated at 4.85 per year, consisting of natural mortality (M) at 3.59 per year and fishing mortality (F) at 1.26 per year. These values suggest that the mortality of M. nigriceps is primarily driven by natural causes rather than fishing pressure. The exploitation rate was 0.26 per year, which is relatively low as it remains below the optimum threshold (Eoptimum = 0.5). This information is essential for fisheries management as a basis for M. nigriceps conservation in the Cicingguling Rive

Enhancing Plantlet Growth of Vanda floresensis Motes through Acclimatization Chamber, Chitosan Spraying, and Mixed Medium

The conservation of  Vanda floresensis Motes has been conducted using in vitro techniques and has produced a large number of plantlets. These plantlets require acclimatization, but the optimal method has not yet been found. The aims of the research were to develop an acclimatization protocol by verifying the effectiveness of an acclimatization chamber (AC), chitosan spraying, and mixed medium composition on plantlet growth.  The research was conducted in a screen house of Universitas Negeri Semarang, using a factorial randomized block design with three factors. The AC factor consisted of two levels: inside and outside the AC. The chitosan concentration factor consisted of five levels, namely 0.0, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5, and 6.0 ppm. The composition of the mixed medium consisted of three levels. The observed variables included the increase in number, length, and width of the leaf, total chlorophyll content, and wilted leaf. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and Duncan test. It can be concluded that the use of AC, chitosan spraying, and mixed medium composition was effective in increasing leaf growth and total chlorophyll content and reducing wilted leaf.  Spraying chitosan of 1.5 - 3.0 ppm with the use of AC and spraying chitosan of 1.5 ppm with a mixed medium of brick pieces, coconut fibre, and tree bark chips with a ratio of 1:2:1 resulted in the highest leaf growth and total chlorophyll content, and the lowest wilted leaf. The results of this study can be used as an acclimatization protocol for orchid propagation for conservation purposes

Abstract: From the beginning until now, education has been a significant factor in the Cambodian setting. The current article examines the origins of education in Cambodia, which dates back to the prehistoric period. Throughout Cambodian history, education has played a variety of meaningful roles. Education played a significant role in shaping the lives of individuals throughout the many eras of Cambodian prehistory and history. In prehistory, children learned by doing and observing the people around them. Education in Cambodia peaked during the Angkor Empire, also known as the Khmer Empire. During that period, hundreds of educational institutions were located across the country, including more advanced educational establishments in the city serving as Angkor\u27s capital. Thousands of instructors were well-equipped to teach Khmer-speaking students. On the other hand, as the Angkor Empire collapsed, education in Cambodia gradually declined, a trend that persisted until the Khmer Rouge Regime finally eradicated education. During this period, the Khmer Rouge leaders targeted and killed the majority of instructors. Then the Cambodian government and other concerned education stakeholders have been working diligently to rebuild education in Cambodia since the end of that black period, and they have succeeded in doing so to the point where it is now. Finally, the article recommends that the concerned education stakeholders consider the past as the experiences for the present and improve the perspectives of future education.
