    No full text
The degradation of local cultural values, particularly *unggah-ungguh* (Javanese etiquette), has become an urgent issue that needs to be addressed. One possible response is through engaging educational media that make learning *unggah-ungguh* easier for children to understand. This study aims to develop *Ayu lan Bagus* animation as a learning medium that incorporates the characters Ayu and Bagus to teach *unggah-ungguh* to elementary school students, while also preserving Javanese culture. The research method involves animation film development, including pre-production, production, and post-production stages. To enhance its effectiveness, the process is supported by the Design Thinking approach (Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test). The animation is designed using motion graphic techniques that are feasible for small teams and offer high sustainability. The *Ayu lan Bagus* episode on *unggah-ungguh* was tested at SDN Kebonagung, Imogiri, Bantul, involving 40 students from grades 1–2 and 5 teachers. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation, and analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively to measure the effectiveness and acceptance of the media. The results show that the *Ayu lan Bagus* animation successfully attracted students\u27 interest and received positive responses from the trial participants. Teachers also provided constructive feedback, stating that this medium is effective for Javanese language learning. The conclusion of this study indicates that the *Ayu lan Bagus* animation is feasible for further development as a fun and effective learning medium to instill local cultural values in the younger generation

This research aims to examine the education of religiosity in the Syattariyah Merbabu manuscript through isbat (unen-unen), which is a classical manuscript representing Sufi teachings in the context of Nusantara Islam. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using a grammatical hermeneutic approach. The data for this research is the text of the Syattariyah Merbabu manuscript. This research will collect all the educational values found within the Syattariyah Merbabu manuscript by analyzing the text translation in detail. The results of this study found that the educational structure in the manuscript includes four main stages: sharia, tarekat, hakikat, and makrifat. The educational process is not only normative but also transformative through remembrance (dzikir), meditation (samadi), and spiritual guidance. The spiritual ethics taught in the texts through self-discipline, control of desires, and the purification of speech and thoughts hold strong character education values, in line with the spirit of integrative Islamic education. The relevance of these teachings to contemporary Islamic education shows that the local Sufi heritage can be adapted to shape character and spiritual awareness in the modern educational world

    No full text
Poverty is a complex social phenomenon that affects various aspects of people\u27s lives, including its representation in literary works. This study aims to describe the portrait of poverty in Tamsir AS\u27s novel Krikil-Krikil Pasisir using a sociological approach. This approach views literary works as a reflection of the social structure and dynamics of the society within which they live. This study uses Ian Watt\u27s sociological theory of literature using semiotic reading techniques. Primary data was obtained from the narrative text in the novel, while secondary data came from supporting scientific references. This reading method enters the data analysis stage, and interpreting the data requires an understanding of social and cultural literary codes. The results show that poverty is represented as a structural reality that influences thought patterns, behavior, and relationships between characters. The unequal social relations between coastal communities and certain dominant ethnic groups give rise to resistance and latent conflict. The characters in the novel experience moral dilemmas that demonstrate the complexity of human values within limited situations. Thus, this novel not only conveys individual stories but also speaks to the social crisis of Indonesia\u27s marginalized communities.

    No full text
Traditional cuisine plays an important role in strengthening history and cultural values for public awareness, especially amidst the tide of globalization that erodes local cultural identities. The design of posters featuring traditional Palembang cuisine as a medium for historical education to visually and informatively introduce its diversity to the younger generation. Typical Palembang cuisine such as pempek, tekwan, model, lenggang, laksan, and burgo not only serves as a consumption necessity but also represents the acculturation of Sriwijaya, Malay, and Chinese cultures. The method used in designing the Palembang culinary poster is the design thinking approach, which consists of five stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Data was obtained through observation, interviews, questionnaire distribution, and literature study. The results show that the posters designed with a contextual visual and narrative approach can serve as a communicative and meaningful non-formal educational tool. The poster features local visual elements, such as the traditional Palembang songket fabric motifs, the Ampera Bridge, local cultural tourist destinations, and is disseminated through social media to reach a wide audience. These findings indicate that visual media are not only effective in introducing the diverse culinary offerings of Palembang but can also strengthen cultural identity and continuously preserve intangible cultural heritage

The design was focused on two primary areas: the lobby and the suite unit. A practice-based design research method was employed to develop a design prototype representing sacred, monumental, and aesthetic impressions. User perception was evaluated using a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire administered to 50 respondents, covering three main dimensions. The results indicated that the Sacrality dimension achieved an average score of 3.68; Monumentality & Cultural Values scored 4.02; and Visual Aesthetics scored 4.15. These findings suggest that the brick tectonic elements effectively conveyed a strong and positive spatial impression, particularly in terms of monumentality and visual aesthetics. VISUAL RRESENTATION OF RIVER POLLUTION AND GLOBAL WARMING IN ENVIRONMENTAL ADVERTISMENT: BASED ON ROLAND BARTHES\u27 THEORY

    No full text
This study explores the visual representation of river pollution and global warming in advertisements related to natural ecosystems, using Roland Barthes’ semiotic framework. It focuses on how visual signs, such as polluted water, industrial smoke, melting ice, and vulnerable human figures, construct layered meanings that extend beyond their literal appearances. Through denotation, connotation, and myth, these elements convey urgent environmental messages while embedding cultural narratives and emotional appeals. The environmental issues raised in these advertisements not only depict the impact of ecological destruction but also reflect the tension between destructive human activities and the need for ecological balance. Such visualizations demonstrate how visual media play a significant role in shaping public awareness of environmental issues and encouraging changes in attitudes toward the natural world. Using a qualitative descriptive method, this research analyzes selected digital campaigns to understand how advertisements build ecological awareness and construct the myth of restoring harmony between humans and nature, ultimately aiming to strengthen collective responsibility for environmental sustainability
