A name of Adolf Skarbek-Malczewski brings back a discovery of the famous Roman aquamanile in his estate at Kruchowo near Trzemeszno in 1852. The article provides a detailed account on numerous field works by A. Malczewski, their repercussions in a subject literature along with significant museological enterprises of the period (the Warszawa exhibition in 1856/1857, the Kraków exhibition in 1858/1859). This part is followed by an attempt to reconstruct a private archaeological collection of A. The main objective of the dissertation was to discuss, departing from the taxonomical viewpoint, the impact of Baden culture upon the lowlands FBC communities in the Oder and Vistula basins in the period of 3600/3500–2400/2350 BC. The work was conducted within the project „The Great Valley Area of Funnel Beaker Culture Badenization. Carpathian Eneolithic Protocivilization Centre’s Contribution to the Development of the Elbe-Saale and Vistula drainages societies on the threshold of the Early Metal Age”, financed by the Polish Committee for Scientific Research. This project included study of temporal resolution of the youngest FBC societies in the Great Valley area influenced by the protocivilization of Baden societies. Moreover, the identification of representative groups belonging to both cultures has been possible thanks to constructing a register of identifiers of the process in question, including adaptation and transformation of „initial” Baden Culture’s patterns among Kuyavian FBC societies. The project further focused upon synchronization of the lowlands phenomena with the old-highland Badenization processes in the areas of Lesser Poland, Silesia and Moravia. Systematic application of radiocarbon dating made the project particularly remarkable achievement. Altogether, 33 samples have been dated. Thanks to this method, it was possible to define a chronological position of taxons connected with the phenomena related to the Badenization process of the lowlands in three research areas: Kuyavia (mainly), Northern Greater Poland and Lower Silesia (auxiliary data). The project results contributed to the debate on the role of the Baden patterns in the latitudinal system of cultural ties in the Great Valley area between the Elbe-Saale and Vistula rivers. As these phenomena have not yet been satisfactorily recognized, especially in Greater Poland and in the Elbe river basin, a complex comparative analysis, making possible a systematic conceptualization of the process, has not been feasible. The project made possible to capture a historical context of the process of Badenization in the Great Valley zone and identified further research directions. These comprise multidimensional studies of the late and final phase in the development of Funnel Beaker Culture and the emergence of the early Bronze Age civilization in the Great Valley areas

This paper present the work of Nick Kardulias concerning the Egean World – System In the Bronze Age. It is paradoxical that the application of the Wallerstein’s model is the most popular and the most useful in Bronze Age studies. In the current article I assess the Kardulias’ work, his worldsystems approach to Aegean societies in the third and second millennia BC. He writes that ] in this era of the studied area societies developed complex economies based on accumulation of substantial agricultural surpluses, craft specialization, and intricate distribution systems

The article is an attempt to explain the origin of the Lusatian culture in western Wielkopolska on the basis of available archaeological evidence. The author inscribes the major role in the formation of the early Lusatian groups in western Wielkopolska to communities from Lower Silesia. From this territory culture impulses radiated along the Odra river, which led to the emergence of the early assemblages of the Urnfield culture in western Wielkopolska and the Lubusz Lands at the beginning of phase III of the Bronze Age.The article is an attempt to explain the origin of the Lusatian culture in western Wielkopolska on the basis of available archaeological evidence. The article discusses an issue of intertextuality of “pictures” in Palaeolithic art, and colour as its constituent. An important concept in these regards appeared to be that of an open and interdisciplinary approach towards an image, derived from the anthropology of images. In my opinion, essential is an “acting” of an image, based on so called “interimaginal relations”. It is legitimate when referring to prehistory, as numerous images reveal interpenetrating traces of other representations. Either consciously or unconsciously, some solutions had been used repeatedly, copying other representations, including selection of colours as a kind of stereotype deeply rooted in cultural memory. In cave “pictures” there were one or two main colours used, rarely three or even four. It has been acknowledged that the most important features of Palaeolithic “pictures” were movement, colour, especially expressed by a contrast of black and red or yellow, and also an illusion. They were also interrelated with a sound. The world of colours of contemporary people was a significant constituent of cultural meanings and of images “acting” in “mediatisation” of important existential contents between past and present

The paper present non-instrumentalist view of technology derived by the work of M. Heidegger, G. Agamben and H. Arendt. This non-utilitarian aspect of technology is used to explain the social meaning of flint working in prehistory. The changes of flint technology related with so-called ‘tool technological revolution’ observed in Neolithic indicate radical shift in social significance of technology. During this period the dichotomous division of work and labor (described by H. Arendt) appear
