4. Pateikti posovietinės transformacijos konceptualizaciją, įvertinant tyrimo duomenis postrevizionistų sovietologų ir sociologinių modernizacijos teorijų kontekste. 5. Tyrimo rezultatus pristatyti Lietuvos ir tarptautinei akademinei bendruomenei. Projekto metu surinkti interviu garso įrašai ir jų transkripcijos saugomi Vilniaus universiteto Tarptautinių santykių ir politikos mokslų instituto Sakytinės istorijos archyve. This research aims to analyse how the collapse of the Soviet modernity project and its political deconstruction has been experienced by the people of Lithuania, what kind of emotions this period evokes today and why, what aspects of transformation are recalled as the most vivid, traumatising, cheerful or astonishing. Also, it attempts to understand whether and how these narratives of the post-communist transformation can be interpreted as the experiences of the conclusion of the modernization process. The goals of the project: 1. To identify the essential traits of the Soviet modernity in Lithuania that may be significant for the transformation period and to formulate the theoretical and methodological guidelines of the research. 2. To collect data from several regions of the country on the experiences of its inhabitants during the transformation period, employing the method of biographical interview. 88 interviews were conducted. 3. To examine whether and how the transformation narratives reflect themes on the essential traits of the Soviet modernity (e.g., industrialization, collectivisation of agriculture, atheisation, and other aspects). Also, to assess the position that these themes take on in mentioned narratives. 4. To conceptualize the post-Soviet transformation by assessing the research data in the context of modernization theories provided by the post-revisionist Sovietology and Sociology. 5. To present project results to Lithuanian and international academic communities. Interviews recorded during the project and their transcriptions are archived in Oral History Archive (Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University). Growing concerns about overuse of an biotics pose challenges towards understanding of the molecular level factors responsible for the virulence. Many bacterial virulence factors impair membrane integrity. The details of the processes remain elusive because of the lack of quantitative techniques to measure in real-time the impairment of the phospholipid membranes by pore-forming toxins (PFTs). This project aims at developing the experimental methodology supported by the computer analysis tools that allows quantitative assessment of the functional damage exerted by the cytolytic PFTs to the membranes using affordable methodology of the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The project takes advantage of the tethered phospholipid bilayer membrane technology developed in the proposing group as well as the multidisciplinary approach, which involves integration of the electrochemical and atomic force microscopy imaging techniques with the modelling of the response of complex molecular structures to electric stimuli. The project will combine the power of the EIS and imaging techniques such as atomic force microscopy (AFM) to develop a convenient EIS data analysis framework with the artificial intelligence based micro-geometry assessment tools allowing to precisely predict the response of EIS from tethered bilayers randomly populated with poly disperse ensembles of nanosize (1-25 nm) defects. Ultimately, the framework will allow user to solve the inverse problem of accessing both density and size of defects in real-time providing using only EIS data. This will provide experimenters needed instruments to study membrane impairment processes by PFTs and will contribute to further expanding experimental capabilities of EIS into various fields of research and development involving complex membrane/protein interactions

The postdoctoral project "Technology, law, and justice: artificial intelligence or human?" has received funding from European Social Fund (project No 09.3.3-LMTK-712-19-0048] under grant agreement with the Research Council of Lithuania (LMTLT). Project summary Although the robot-judge is still a science fiction and current artificial intelligence is called "weak", legal technologies are not only creating new ways of accessing and delivering legal services to consumers, but also changing the role and function of legal practitioners. It is expected that some lawyers will lose their jobs, but at the same time new staff will be needed to perform data analysis, design legal technology and more. Paradoxically, with the automation of legal processes and decisions, lawyers may increasingly need exceptionally “human” skills - communication, emotion management, empathy. The idea behind the project is to investigate how people perceive fairness of legal technologies and how it is related to the adoption or, on the contrary, hostility to technology. The project aims to carry out a research program on the perceived fairness and adoption of automated legal processes. Research program is planned: (1) study on the levels of human interaction with automated legal processes, (2) research on the determinants of the perceived justice and acceptance of legal technology, and (3) research on the factors of the perceived fairness of automated legal processes. The proposed project will contribute to the development of a growing research area – perception of technology. The results of the project can be useful in exploring the competencies that lawyers need to strengthen in the process of automating legal processes and assessing the potential for automation of various legal activities. Research into the beliefs and attitudes towards technology of various groups of people will provide a better understanding of the phenomena of trust in technology, perceived fairness of legal technology, and acceptance or adoption of legal tech. The results obtained can also help to assess the conditions under which technology, and under which human decisions may seem fairer to people; may also can contribute to the in development of technologies which fairness would be doubted as little as possible. The postdoctoral project "Technology, law, and justice: artificial intelligence or human?" has received funding from European Social Fund (project No 09.3.3-LMTK-712-19-0048] under grant agreement with the Research Council of Lithuania (LMTLT).
