Visual analysis of multidimensional scaling using GeoGebra
No full textThis work gives a graphical interpretation of Geometric MDS method.The paper deals with the multidimensional scaling (MDS) that depends on the class of nonlinear projection methods for a visual representation of multidimensional data. The performance of a new MDS-type method for multidimensional data dimensionality reduction and visualization (Geometric MDS) has been investigated visually using GeoGebra. Dynamic geometry program GeoGebra is a non-commercial and interactive software for the visual representation of algebra and geometry. We made specific GeoGebra scripts for the visual representation of the convergence process of Geometric MDS. This allows us to analyze the optimization of the stress function visually, describing the visualization quality and find the basins of attraction to the local minima. The results allow an easier comprehension of the MDS stress optimization by the anti-gradient search. Moreover, the results deepen the understanding of Geometric MDS, in general

No full textLietuvos nacionalinė rinkiminė studija (angl. Lithuanian National Election Study, LNES) yra 2012 m. pradėtas longitudinis tyrimas, skirtas Lietuvos gyventojų rinkiminio elgesio, visuomenės nuomonės nuomonės ir politinio dalyvavimo analizei.
LNES 2016 m. tikslas – pratęsti nacionalinių rinkiminių studijų vykdymą Lietuvoje, kokybiškai atnaujinant ir įsitraukiant į tarptautinę Lyginamojo rinkiminių sistemų tyrimo (CSES) programą, atlikti giluminį Lietuvos pilietinės savimonės ir politinio elgesio tyrimą ir jo rezultatus pristatyti Lietuvos visuomenei ir tarptautinei akademinei bendruomenei.Lithuanian National Election Study 2016 is conducted by the team of the International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University and the Baltic Institute of Advanced Technologies. It includes a post-election survey with integrated CSES Module 5, a survey of the candidates to the Lithuanian parliament and a qualitative study of political attitudes and reception of strategic political communication
Evaluating Economic Potential of Lithuanian Regions
No full textValstybės ištekliai, skirti investicijoms į regionų plėtrą, yra riboti. Siekiant užtikrinti investicijų į regionų ekonominio augimo efektyvumą būtina turėti išsamią jų ekonominio potencialo analizę, įvertinti priemones, galinčias paskatinti regionų augimą, „išjudinti“ jų ekonominį potencialą bei prisidėti prie sėkmingo regioninių specializacijų strategijų įgyvendinimo. Projekto tikslas – įvertinti Lietuvos Respublikos regionų ekonominį potencialą bei pateikti siūlymus jo plėtojimui. Projekto uždaviniai:
1. Įvertinti kiekvieno regiono, atsižvelgiant į regionus sudarančias savivaldybes, didžiausią potencialą turinčias verslo sritis (specializaciją) bei veiksmus, kurie sąlygotų darbo našumo, eksporto ir inovacijų lygio augimą.
2. Atlikti kiekvieno regiono, atsižvelgiant į juos sudarančių savivaldybių, verslo infrastruktūros analizę bei nustatyti regionų verslo infrastruktūros trūkumus bei plėtros kryptis.
Projekto įgyvendinimui bus taikomi kiekybinės ir kokybinės analizės metodai, atliekamos įmonių ir ekspertinės apklausos, analizuojama užsienio patirtis ir jos taikymo galimybės Lietuvoje. Tyrimu pagrindu teikiami pasiūlymai Lietuvos regionų ekonominio potencialo plėtotei. Tyrimų rezultatai galės būti taikomi formuojant regionų plėtros strategijas, numatant regionų plėtros prioritetus ir spręstinas strategines problemas, orientuojant valstybės investicijas į ekonominei plėtrai svarbiausias sritis.
MIDAS sistemoje pateikiami pirminiai duomenys, surinkti projekto įgyvendinimo metu:
1. Visų Lietuvos regionų (apskričių) įmonių apklausa apie verslo plėtros perspektyvas, verslo infrastruktūros poreikius, verslo plėtrą ribojančius veiksnius ir kt. Tyrimo imtis 1201 įmonė, kiekviename regione apklausta nuo 98 iki 201 įmonių. Tyrime įtrauktos įmonės iš visų Lietuvos savivaldybių priklausomai nuo juose veikiančių ūkio subjektų skaičiaus. Tyrimo anketa adaptuota pagal Pasaulio banko metodiką regionų ekonominio potencialo tyrimui.
2. Ekspertinės apklausos rezultatai. Apklausti ekspertai, tiesiogiai dirbantys su investuotojais regionuose (laisvų ekonominių zonų, pramonės parkų operatoriai, Investuok Lietuvoje). Vertinami investicijų pritraukimą rivojantys veiksniai ir kt.State‘s resources for investments in regional development are limited. In order to ensure the efficiency of investment in regions‘ economic growth, it is necessary to have a comprehensive analysis of their economic potential, to evaluate the means that can stimulate regional growth, to enhance their economic potential and to contribute to the successful implementation of regional specialization strategies. The aim of the project is to evaluate the economic potential of the regions of the Republic of Lithuania and to submit proposals for its development. Project tasks:
1. To evaluate the most potential business areas (specialization) for each region, taking into account comprising municipalities, as well as actions that would lead to an increase in labor productivity, export and innovation levels.
2. To analyze the business infrastructure of each region, taking into account comprising municipalities, and to identify the disadvantages and development directions of the regional business infrastructure.
For the implementation of the project quantitative and qualitative analysis methods will be applied, enterprise and expert surveys will be carried out and foreign experience and its possible applications in Lithuania will be analyzed. The research suggests proposals for the development of the economic potential of the regions of Lithuania. The results of the research could be used to formulate regional development strategies, to formulate priorities for regional development and strategic issues to be addressed, focusing the state's investments on key areas for economic development
