Interview Excerpt of Mr. Alfred Coleman Henry
(1913-2010) A.C. Henry, an educator, was the son of Nelson Edward Henry and Mattie Viola McDaniel Henry, born in China, AL. He attended Conecuh County Training School and Booker T. Washington High School in Miami, FL. He earned a teacher certificate. He worked at the home of President Trenholm doing domestic work such as cleaning, mowing lawn, etc. In 1937, President H. Council Trenholm awarded thirty-seven B.S. Degrees, one of which Mr. Henry was a recipient. He received his Master's in Education in 1945. In 1945, he came to work at Alabama State College, now Alabama State University, where he worked in the College of Science Department. He left the University in 1969 and began teaching for the Montgomery City School system. In 2005 he had two publications, "Looking Back: an Autobiography as Recalled by Alfred Coleman Henry" and "The Life of Alfred Coleman Henry in photographs.
