Compressive sensing adaptation for polynomial chaos expansions
Basis adaptation in Homogeneous Chaos spaces rely on a suitable rotation of the underlying Gaussian germ. Several rotations have been proposed in the literature resulting in adaptations with different convergence properties. In this paper we present a new adaptation mechanism that builds on compressive sensing algorithms, resulting in a reduced polynomial chaos approximation with optimal sparsity. The developed adaptation algorithm consists of a two-step optimization procedure that computes the optimal coefficients and the input projection matrix of a low dimensional chaos expansion with respect to an optimally rotated basis. We demonstrate the attractive features of our algorithm through several numerical examples including the application on Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) calculations of turbulent combustion in a HIFiRE scramjet engine. Functionalization of the Sugar Moiety of Oligoribonucleotides on Solid Support
A solid-phase method for the introduction of a variety of different side chains into oligoribonucleotides is presented. It is based on a b-D-allofuranosyl phosphoramidite with a bromopentyl-substituent tethered to the 6'-O position. After its incorporation into fully protected, immobilized RNA sequences, the bromine was substituted with a variety of soft nucleophiles which, in some cases, allowed further transformations. After deprotection and detachment, the corresponding functionalized oligoribonucleotides were purified and characterized. Incorporation of such side chains led to a slight lowering of transition temps., but some of them led to a significant enthalpic stabilization of an A-type RNA duplex. [on SciFinder (R)]LCA
Incommensurate crystal structure of PbHfO3
Controversy in the description/identification of so-called intermediate phase(s) in PbHfO3, stable in the range similar to 420-480 K, has existed for a few decades. A synchrotron diffraction experiment on a partially detwinned crystal allowed the structure to be solved in the superspace group Imma(00 gamma)s00 (No. 74.2). In contrast to some previously published reports, in the pure compound only one distinct phase was observed between Pbam PbZrO3-like antiferroelectric and Pm3m paraelectric phases. The modulation vector depends only slightly on temperature. The major structure modulation is associated with the displacement of lead ions, which is accompanied by a smaller amplitude modulation for the surrounding O atoms and tilting of HfO6 octahedra. Tilting of the octahedra results in a doubling of the unit cell compared with the parent structure.LPM
An Analysis Of Indonesian–English Code-Mixing Used by Indonesian Public Figures in Twitter: (A Sociolinguistic Study)
This research is entitled An Analysis Of Indonesian–English Code-Mixing Used by Indonesian Public Figures in Twitter (A Sociolinguistic Study). It is focused to classify the type of code-mixing and the level of code-mixing used by Indonesian public figures in their Twitter accounts from January until March. The theory of Muysken (2000) is used to analyze the type of code-mixing. This research applied the descriptive qualitative method to analyze and investigate the data. From the analysis of the data, the result of this research was 153 data of code-mixing. Jerome Polin had 75 data as the most dominant people among the others. Jehian Sijabat had 65 data, and Jang Hansol only 13 data. The data showed Jerome Polin had 56 data of insertion, 7 data of alternation, and 12 data of congruent lexicalization. Jehian Sijabat had 47 data of insertion, 7 data of alternation, and 11 data of congruent lexicalization. Jang Hansol had 11 data of insertion, 0 data of alternation, and 3 data of congruent lexicalization. In the levels of code-mixing, the word level had 91 data, phrase level 37 data, baster level 17 data, idiom level 2 data, and clause level 6 data. There are no data found for repetition level. For the details, Jerome Polin had 52 data of word level, 15 data of phrase level, 4 data of baster level, 2 data of idiom level, and 2 data of clause level. Jehian Sijabat had 32 data of word level, 18 data of phrase level, 11 data of baster level, and 4 data of clause level. The last is Jang Hansol. He had 7 data of word level, 4 data of phrase level, and 2 data of baster level. Insertion is the most dominant type of code-mixing included in Indonesian public figures\u27 Twitter accounts from January to March. Meanwhile, the word level is the most dominant
CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS ON FERDY SAMBO DEATH SENTENCE NEWS ON TEMPO.CO
This research is to reveal how Ferdy Sambo is represented and what ideology is behind the news related to the news about the death sentence of Ferdy Sambo published by online media Tempo.co. The methodology employed in the present research is qualitative, and the data validity uses triangulation. The discourse in the form of news articles analyzed in this study is three selected news about the death sentencing of Ferdy Saambo published by Tempo.co in February 2023. The news was investigated using Critical Discourse Analysis by Norman Fairclough and with the collaboration of Systemic Functional Grammar by Halliday. Critical Discourse by Norman Fairclough is described as having three-dimensions: micro level (description), meso level (interpretation), and macro level (explanation). At the micro level (description), the analysis focuses on textual practice to unmask the representation, relation, and identity. At the meso level (interpretation), the analysis focuses on discourse practice to unmask the text producer and the text production & consumption. At the macro level (explanation), the analysis focuses on socio-cultural practice to unmask what is the ideology behind. The Systemic Functional Grammar by Halliday focuses on transitivity analysis. In this case, grammar is seen as a resource for making meaning. This research reveals that (1) Tempo.co represents the defendant or Ferdy Sambo as a negative by depicting the most used process, which is the material process. The material process shows that he is a party who has taken real action on the murder case. (2) Based on the representations and relations of the parties that realized in the news text, the news is in a position to support the government. This news is an effort to support the government to raise justice for the victim. The news also impacts the negative stigma of certain parties (to the defendants who committing the murder). Therefore, Tempo.co tends to have a political ideology, namely conservatism. Additionally, Tempo.co is a platform that provides clear, transparent, and accountable news which aligns with the journalism code and ethics
