Start-up of a Varspeed Group in Pump Mode, Practical Implementations and Tests

    No full text
The present paper addresses the practical implementation in a test bench of different control strategies for the start-up of a varspeed group in pump mode. In varspeed groups using a double-fed induction machine supplied by back to back voltage source inverters (VSI), the possibility exists of using the rotor side VSI to start up the group. The current paper focuses on the start-up strategy and its implementation in a test bench of 3.3 kVA. After presenting the hardware composing the test bench, two different start-up strategies are detailed, which are the field oriented control and critical torque. Those two strategies are then implemented in practice, tested, measured and compared.LM

Constraint-Flow Nets: A Model for Building Constraints from Resource Dependencies

    No full text
The major research in the resource management literature focuses primarily on two complementary sub-problems: (1) specification languages for formulating resource requests and (2) constraint problems modelling allocation and scheduling. Both directions assume the knowledge of the underlying platform architecture and the dependencies it induces on the usage of the various resources. In this paper, we bridge this gap by introducing constraint-flow nets (cfNets). A cfNet is defined by a set of resources and dependencies between them, each dependency having an associated constraint schema. The model is inspired by Petri nets, with resources corresponding to places and dependencies—to transitions. Given an architecture of dependent resources, an initial resource request is propagated through the dependencies. The generated constraints are then conjuncted into the global allocation constraint. We study the notion of conflicts in cfNets and prove that for conflict-free cfNets the global allocation constraint can be constructed unambiguously. Furthermore, we provide an SMT-based algorithm for conflict detection and discuss the use of priorities to dynamically resolve conflicts at run-time. Finally, we illustrate the use of cfNets on a case study inspired by the Kalray MPPA architecture.LCA2RIS

INVESTIGATING FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE IN THE SONG LYRICS OF PAMUNGKAS “FLYING SOLO” ALBUM

    Get PDF
Figurative language is one method for adding more lovely words and rich meaning to languages (Damayanti, 2018). However, figurative language often makes the listeners have a different interpretation. This problem occurs because figurative language cannot be understood and interpreted literally. The reason is that figurative language is used as an indicator to get the word\u27s special meaning (Abrams, 1999). This research provides an overview of figurative language in song lyrics and its meaning. This research is entitled Investigating Figurative Language in the Song Lyrics of Pamungkas "Flying Solo" Album. The aims of this research are to classify some types of figurative language in Pamungkas\u27 "Flying Solo" album and to interpret its meaning. The qualitative applied was used in this research along with a descriptive analysis reaching to provide analytic descriptions of the research topics. The object of this research is the song lyrics in "Flying Solo" album by Pamungkas. There are 11 songs from the "Flying Solo" album were used as the research\u27s objects and data sources. This research uses the theory proposed by Kennedy (1983) about types of figurative language and Leech (1981) about meanings. There are seven different types of figurative language have found: metonymy, hyperbole, paradox, personification, simile, synecdoche, and understatement. Hyperbole is the most common type of figurative language used in Pamungkas\u27 "Flying Solo" album. This album used a lot of figurative language that describes feeling about love. It indicates that this album made an effort to creatively portray the feeling or idea by using figurative language

This research is entitled “Turn-Taking Mechanisms in The Podcast by Jay Shetty with Selena Gomez on YouTube.” It was aimed to find out the turn-taking mechanisms most frequently used and the turn-taking mechanisms that occur between them. the research question will be answered in an analytical description. This research used the theory of the turn-taking mechanisms proposed by Jacob L. Mey (2001). Mey implements that turn-taking is divided into three mechanisms; Taking the Floor, Holding the Floor, and Yielding the Floor, and each of the mechanisms has its subtypes of the mechanism. The method in this research used the qualitative method. The object of the research is the conversation in the podcast by Jay Shetty with Selena Gomez which was uploaded on YouTube on November 7th, 2023. The result shows that there are 724 data found in this research. Taking the Floor 261 (Starting up 25 data, taking over 164 data, interrupting 22 data, and overlapping 50 data), Holding the Floor 405 (Filled pause/verbal filler 107 data, silent pause 58 data, lexical repetition 230 data, and new start 10 data), and Yielding the Floor 58 (Prompting 36 data, appealing 16 data, and giving up 6 data). The turn-taking mechanism most frequently used in the podcast by Jay Shetty with Selena Gomez is Holding the Floor of Lexical Repetition

Flouting maxims occur when someone intentionally violates one of the four cooperative maxims to create a rhetorical or humorous effect in communication. Violation of the cooperative maxim like this often occurs in online communication, including online communication. This research is entitled “Ironheart\u27s Pick-Up Lines: A Pragmatic Study of Flouting Maxim in The Context of Romantic Relationships”. This research aimed to discover and explain the types and the reasons for flouting maxims in pick-up lines used by Ironheart. The data source used in this research was the five most viewed videos from Ironheart\u27s YouTube channel. The object of this research was utterances that contained pick-up lines used by Ironheart that happened in the interaction between Ironheart and the other people in OmeTV. The method used in this research was a descriptive qualitative research method through a pragmatic approach. This research used the theory proposed by Paul H. Grice. The result shows that the most flouted maxim in pick-up lines used by Ironheart is the maxim of relevance, which was flouted 17 times. Meanwhile, the maxim of quality was flouted eight times and the maxim of manner was flouted five times. The reason for flouting the maxim was to create a humorous conversation and give compliments to the other person

High-Voltage Tolerant Bi-State Self-Biasing Output Driver using Cascade Complementary Latches in Twin-well CMOS Technology

    No full text
The design of a bi-state output buffer that can handle 5 times the supply voltage is presented. The use of self-biasing stacked devices driven by a cascade of complementary latches allows all devices to operate within the limits set by the technology, thus minimising any hot carrier injection and dielectric stress degradation. The presented voltage extension technique is scalable to larger and smaller external voltages and suitable for all twin-well technology feature sizes. The technique using the cascade of complementary latches is applied to the realization of a CAN output driver in a digital twin-well double-oxide 180nm technology featuring both 1.8V 180nm and 3.3V 350nm CMOS devices. The CAN driver consists of two bi-state drivers, which are both in high-impedance state during the CAN recessive state and in the high and respectively low state for the CAN dominant state. The realized prototype driver can handle external voltages between -3V and 16V and exhibits a 1.5V differential output swing on a 60Ohm load over the military temperature range compliant to the CAN automotive standard. To the best of our knowledge this is also the first realization of a CAN driver in a low-voltage digital CMOS technology.IM
