    The Effect of Possible Sentence Strategy on Students in The Eighth Grades's Abilty to Master Vocabulary

    The goal of the study was to determine whether the Possible Sentences Strategy had a substantial impact on eighth-graders ability to master vocabulary. A quasi-experimental design was used for the study. There were 82 pupils in the eighth population of the study. Then, using the Cluster Sampling Technique, the researcher chose the study's sample, which included 60 pupils. The researcher conducted pre-tests in the control and experimental groups before beginning therapy.  The control group's mean score was 56.50 with a L count of 0.1269, while the experimental group's mean score was 51 with a L count of 0.1403 and a L table of 0.16. As a result, the pre-test results for the experimental group and control group were reported as having a Normal Distribution. The next step was to look at uniformity. F table = 1.86 and F count = 1.09, according to pre-test computation. A homogenous pre-test result was reported. In both the control and experimental groups, the researcher conducted a post-test after the therapy. The experimental group's mean score was 80.83 while the control group's mean score was 64 with a L count of 0.1032 and a L table of 0.1545. The post-test findings of the control and experimental groups were thus reported as having a Normal Distribution. The next step was to look at uniformity. F count = 1.45 and F table = 1.86 were calculated based on the post-test results. A homogenous post-test result was reported. A hypothesis test was then conducted by the researcher. Table was obtained as follows: t1/2(dk) = t0.025(72) = -2.002; t count = 4.98. It means that t count (4.98) did not exist between interval -2.002 to 2.002 (-2.002 ≤ t ≤ 2.002). So, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the Possible Sentences Strategy on the students’ ability to Mastering Vocabulary

    The Elementary Graders' Description of Their Ability to Write Analytical Exposition Text

    Writing is the process of putting thoughts into words on a piece of paper and presenting them to the reader. A spoken or written text that aims to persuade the audience or readers of something—either pro or con, depending on the situation—is an analytical exposition text. The purpose of the research was to describe the students' writing abilities and the factors that affect them in order to understand their capacity for producing analytical exposition texts. Using a Hymp-Lyons scoring rubric, which includes Thesis Statement, Arguments, and Reiterations, the students' performance on the test was evaluated.The research employed a descriptive qualitative methodology. Following Gay et al.'s recommendations for reading and taking notes, characterizing the environment, and categorizing research data, the analysis of the data was carried out in this manner. The class XI-MIPA students, which had 20 students, served as the research's informants. Data has been collected through student workbooks and interviews with English teachers and students.After conducting the analysis of students’ analytical exposition text, the result showed that 14 students (70%) were able to write an analytical exposition text, and only 6 students (30%) were not able to write an analytical exposition text. After conducting the analysis of students’ answer in interview sheets, the result showed that a lot of different factors affected the result of their writing. In the final analysis, the majority of XI-MIPA students were able to write analytical exposition texts with a solid generic structure due to a number of key factors, including their background knowledge of the subject, the depth of their understanding of analytical exposition texts, and how well they applied the writing process in their work. &nbsp

    The relationship between metalinguistic awareness and reading fluency in elementary school children: The mediating role of character recognition and vocabulary knowledge

    Reading is an important skill and an effective way for individuals to obtain information. In the field of reading development, reading fluency, as an essential indicator of children’s reading ability development, has gradually attracted researchers’ attention. According to the Multidimensional View of Reading Fluency, reading fluency involves integrating cognitive skills related to reading, such as phonological awareness, orthographic awareness, and morphological awareness. The processing of low–level cognitive skills is an integral part of reading fluency. In addition, Chinese character recognition and vocabulary knowledge at the word level also play a vital role in children’s reading fluency development. However, few studies have explored the possible relationship between metalinguistic awareness, Chinese character recognition, vocabulary knowledge, and reading fluency. Therefore, to comprehensively investigate the predictive factors and mechanism of the low–grade primary school children’s reading fluency, the study intended to incorporate phonological awareness, orthographic awareness, and morphological awareness into a systematic model to explore the relationship between three metalinguistic awareness and reading fluency, and the mediating role of Chinese character recognition and vocabulary knowledge. 149 primary school children were followed up three times a year, with their phonological awareness, orthographic awareness, and morphological awareness measured at Time 1 (fall semester of Grade 1), Chinese character recognition and vocabulary knowledge at Time 2 (spring semester of Grade 1), and word reading fluency and silent reading fluency at Time 3 (fall semester of Grade 2). In addition, rapid naming and general cognitive ability were all measured as control variables at Time1 (fall semester of Grade 1). Spearman correlation analysis was established to investigate the correlation between variables. The structural equation model (SEM) was established to investigate the predictive effect of metalinguistic awareness on reading fluency and the mediating role of Chinese character recognition and vocabulary knowledge. The results showed that: (1) phonological awareness directly predicted word reading fluency. (2) orthographic awareness not only directly predicted word reading fluency and silent reading fluency but also predicted word reading fluency and silent reading fluency through Chinese character recognition. (3) Morphological awareness significantly predicted silent reading fluency in second grade, promoted word reading fluency through Chinese character recognition, and indirectly predicted silent reading fluency through the mediating role of Chinese character recognition and vocabulary knowledge. The findings provide a reference basis for systematically investigating the relationship between metalinguistic awareness and reading fluency among Chinese children and provide theoretical guidance for improving children’s reading fluency skill

    Abstract This research was conducted to develop a Think Talk Write-based worksheet for writing biographical text. The researcher used the ADDIE development model as a guide in the implementation of development. To obtain the data for this study, the researcher used assessment instruments, namely validation questionnaire of a material expert, a linguist, a design expert, a student response questionnaire, and a learning outcome test. Data analysis was obtained by collecting quantitative and qualitative data from validators and students. The results of this study are that the value of the results of validation, trial and learning outcomes is found. Material expert validation in revision I reached 86.2% and in revision II reached 97.5%, linguist validation in revision I reached 82.1% and in revision II reached 100%, and design expert validation in revision I reached 75% and in revision II reached 100%, with very feasible criteria. Student responses to individual trials reached 98% and field trials reached 97%, with very practical criteria. Student learning outcomes in individual trials reached 100% and field trials reached 83.3%, with the criteria of Very Effective. The results of this study can be concluded, that is, that the development of Indonesian language worksheets for the 9th Grade Students of the SMA based on Think Talk Write is very feasible, very practical, and very effective to use in the Indonesian language learning process. Researchers suggest: 1) LKPD can be used by students and teachers in any school, 2) for teachers, it can be a reference in developing other creative teaching materials.     Peningkatan Kemampuan Menganalisis Makna Kebahasaan Teks Biografi dengan Menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Jigsaw Siswa Kelas X SMK Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli

    The problem in this study is that students are less able to analyze language in biographical texts. Therefore, researchers apply the Jigsaw learning model to overcome this problem. The purpose of this lesson is to improve students' ability to analyze language in biographical texts using the Jigsaw model. The subjects of this study were the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli, totaling 24 people, 14 boys and 10 girls. This research uses classroom action assessment (PTK) with the implementation procedures are planning, action, observation and reflection. From the results of the study, the values obtained in cycle I with the lowest value were 30 and the highest value was 90 with an average value of 62.08% and in cycle II the lowest value was 60 and the highest value was 95 with an average value of 86.45%. The results of observations of students in the first cycle of the first meeting with an average value of 62.17% and the second meeting 70.19% and the second cycle of the first meeting with an average value of 84.73% and the second meeting 91.34%. The results of observations of researchers in cycle I first meeting with an average value of 61.54% and the second meeting 69.23% and in cycle II the first meeting with an average value of 83.33% and the second meeting 92.30%. Based on this research, it can be concluded that using the Jigsaw learning model can improve the ability to analyze aspects of linguistic meaning in biographical texts in class X SMK Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli 2022/2023 Academic Year

    Kepribadian Tokoh Utama dalam Novel Pengantara Karya Kaksubak (Teori Humanistik Abraham Maslow)

    This research is motivated by the researcher's interest and desire to know more about the personality of the main character in the novel Pengantara by Kaksubak which consists of five characters, namely Mahendra Ajie Permana, Jiran Syahidin Putra, Ihsan Saepul Hidayat, Rasya Julianto, and Karel Aloysius Ginting. The purpose of this study was to describe (1) the personality of the main character in the novel Pengantara by Kaksubak, (2) the factors that influence the personality of the main character in the novel Pengantara by Kaksubak. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data source is the novel Pengantara by Kaksubak. The data collected is in the form of words or quotations. The results of this study are (1) the personality of the main character in the novel Pengantara consists of two types of personality, namely healthy personality (Metaneeds) and unhealthy (Metapological). The healthy personality (Metaneeds) shown by Kaksubak in his novel are the characteristics of trust, wise and kind, beautiful, energetic and optimistic, complete, fair and altruistic, brave, simple, and full of meaning. Meanwhile, the unhealthy personality (metapological) shown by Kaksubak in his novel includes distrust, cynical and skeptical, hateful and disgusting, vulgar and numb, loss of enthusiasm for life, passivity and pessimism, chaos and unpredictability, likes angry, unfair, and selfish, insecure and need help, very complex and confused, irresponsible, don't know the meaning of life, lose hope, and despair. (2) the factors that influence the main character's personality in the novel Pengantara by Kaksubak consist of two factors, namely internal and external factors.     Meningkatkan Keterampilan Self Disclosure Melalui Jendela Johari Siswa Kelas VIII-A SMP Negeri 2 Gunungsitoli Utara

    Self Disclosure atau keterbukaan diri adalah membagikan informasi pribadi meliputi pikiran, perasaan, pendapat pribadi dan juga informasi yang disembunyikan pada orang lain. Teknik Johari Window merupakan teknik yang tujuannya adalah membuat seseorang menjadi membuka diri, yaitu terbuka kepada orang lain dan terbuka bagi yang lain sehingga tercipta hubungan yang baik antar individu Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah self disclosure atau keterbukaan diri siswa dapat di tingkatkan melalui Jendela Johari. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian eksperimen one group pretest-posttest design Sumber data penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII-A SMP Negeri 2 Gunungsitoli Utara. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah tes dan observasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menganalisis hasil pre-test, post-test dan observasi per- individu. Hasil pre-test menggambarkan bahwa dari 24 orang siswa sebagai subjek  penelitian ditemukan 11 orang siswa yang memiliki keterampilan self disclosure yang rendah (pada aspek pikiran, perasaan, pendapat pribadi dan informasi tersembunyi), bila diinterpretasikan pada skala interpretasi keterampilan self disclosure berada pada rentang skor X 10 dengan persentase 0-33% yang artinya rendah. Hasil post-test dari 11 orang siswa yang diberi perlakuan menunjukkan keterampilan self disclosure siswa meningkat dan berada pada rentang skor 11-22 dengan persentase 34-66% yang artinya sedang. Selanjutnya, hasil perhitungan antara selisih O2-0, adalah 12 dan diinterpretasikan berada pada criteria sedang. Hasil observasi menunjukkan bahwa subjek penelitian yang 11 orang memperoleh total nilai rata-rata jumlah kesepakatan/kecocokan 66%, dengan interpretasi pada rentang 34-66% yang artinya criteria sedang. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa konseling kelompok dengan teknik Jendela Johari efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan self disclosure. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data penelitian ini, maka disarankan kepada; (1) Guru bimbingan dan konseling dapat menggunakan teknik Jendela Johari dalam meningkatkan keterampilan self disclosure. (2) Kepala sekolah, agar pengembangan layanan BK di sekolah dapat ditingkatkan sebagai bagian dari upaya pendidikan. (3) Mahasiswa prodi Bimbingan dan Konseling sebagai peneliti lanjutan dapat memanfaatkan temuan penelitian ini sebagai bahan rujukan untuk penelitian yang relevan

    Kesadaran diri adalah kemampuan individu mengenal, merasakan danmengetahui yang terjadi dalam dirinya maupun diluar dirinya. Bimbingan kelompokdengan teknik role playing adalah suatu layanan yang mampu membantu siswadalam meningkatkan kesadaran dirinva, misalnya mengenali perasaan dan perilakudiri, mengenali kelebihan dan kerurangan diri, mempunyai Sikap mandiri, dapatmembuat keputusan dengan tepat, dan mampu mengevaluasi diri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah layanan bibingan kelompok dengan teknik role playing dapat meningkatkan kesadaran diri siswa.Adapun rumusan masalah yang akan dijawab adalah "Apakah kesadaran diri siswadapat ditingkatkan melalui layanan bimbingan kelompok dengan teknik roleplaying? "untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian ini digunakan metode penelitianeksperimen one-group pre-test post-test design, dengan sumber data 30 orang subjekpenelitian di kelas XI IPS 1 SMA Negeri 1 Botomuzoi Tahun Ajaran 2021/2022 Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes dengan teknik pre-test danpost-test. Teknik ini bertujuan untuk melihat adakah peningkatan kesadaran dirisiswa sebelum dan sesudah diberi perlakuan melalui layanan bimbingan kelompokdengan teknik role playing Analisis data dilakukan dengan menganalisis hasil pre-test dan post-test perindividu. Dari persetiap aspek. Dari hasil analisis data, ditemukan bahwa: Hasil pre-test pada kesadaran diri siswa dari 30 orang subjek penelitianmenggambarkan ada 13 orang siswa yang memiliki nilai pada rentang 9-16 yangartinya kesadaran diri siswa rendah. Setelah diberi perlakuan hasil post-test dari 13 orang subjek penelitianmenggambarkan ada peningkatan yaitu berada pada rentang nilai 25-30 yangartinya kesadaran diri siswa sangat meningkat. Dari hasil penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa bimbingan kelompok dengan Teknikrole playing dapat meningkatkan kesadaran diri siwa, oleh karena itu disarankankepada:   Konselor sekolah agar menggunakan bimbingan kelompok dengan teknik roleplaying dalam meningkatkan kesadaran diri siswa. Siswa, hendaknya mengikuti bimbingan kelompok dengan teknik role playingagar dapat meningkatkan kesadran diri. Kepala sekolah dalam menentukan kebijakan pengembangan sekolah dimasamendatang agar menjadwalkan bimbingan dan konseling dalam tautan jadwalpelajaran di sekolah

    Pelatihan Peningkatan Kemampuan Pelaku UMKM di Kepulauan Nias dalam Menyusun Laporan Keuangan

    This community service is structured in the form of training in preparing financial reports where the targets are MSME actors in the Nias Islands, carried out using participatory action research methods. By conducting Preliminary Mapping of MSME Actors, Building Relationships with MSME Actors, Determining the Implementation Agenda for Training and finally participatory mapping. The training for preparing financial reports for MSMEs in the Nias Islands aims to enable MSME actors to have the ability and skills to implement financial management by separating personal and business money, recording cash flow, and controlling business flows. Apart from that, it is also for learning in solving problems and fulfilling the practical needs of the community, as well as the production of knowledge. The results of this community service, as expected, are that this activity can be sustainable and can touch business actors, especially micro and small business actors who do not yet understand the importance of compiling financial reports. The next step is to have an action plan to re-discuss in the future regarding proper bookkeeping, both manually and by using applications or technology. In addition, special training is also needed regarding taxes because in compiling financial reports, business actors, especially medium-sized businesses, are subject to tax for the next assistance.Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dirangkai dalam bentuk pelatihan penyusunan laporan keuangan dimana yang menjadi sasarannya adalah para pelaku UMKM yang ada di Kepulauan Nias, dilaksanakan dengan metode penelitian aksi partisipasipatif. Dengan melakukan Pemetaan Awal Terhadap Pelaku UMKM, membangun hubungan dengan pelaku UMKM, penentuan agenda Pelaksanaan Pelatihan dan terakhir pemetaan partisipatif. Pelatihan Penyusunan Laporan Keuangan Bagi Pelaku UMKM di Kepulauan Nias ini bertujuan  agar pelaku UMKM memiliki kemampuan dan keterampilan dalam menerapkan manajemen keuangan yang dijalankannya dengan memisahkan uang pribadi dan uang usaha, pencatatan arus kas, mengontrol arus usaha. Selain itu juga untuk pembelajaran  dalam mengatasi  masalah dan pemenuhan kebutuhan praktis masyarakat, serta produksi ilmu pengetahuan.  Hasil dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini, seperti yang diharapkan agar kegiatan ini dapat berkelanjutan dan dapat menyentuh para pelaku usaha khususnya para pelaku usaha mikro dan kecil yang belum memahami akan pentingnya menyusun laporan keuangan. Kelanjutannya memiliki sebuah rencana aksi untuk mendiskusikan ulang kedepan perihal pencatatan pembukuan yang benar, baik secara manual maupun dengan cara menggunakan aplikasi atau teknologi. Selain itu perlu juga pelatihan khusus mengenai pajak karena dalam menyusun laporan keuangan para pelaku usaha khususnya usaha menengah yang wajib dikenakan pajak untuk pendampingan selanjutnya
