“¿Qué hacemos con Madrid?: Un estudio de los espacios y de los personajes en la obra Riña de gatos. Madrid 1936 de Eduardo Mendoza”
International audienceLa transposición de la ciudad de Madrid en la novela Riña de gatos. Madrid 1936 y el abanico depersonajes singulares con los que topa el narrador a lo largo del relato permiten anclar el texto en un contexto histórico preciso, no tanto estudiado por la historiografía como la Guerra Civil o la dictadura franquista, y sobre el cual Eduardo Mendoza decidió focalizarse: los meses queprecedieron el golpe de Estado. Nos proponemos mostrar cómo la ficción, a través de la solicitación de espacios reales y la construcción de personajes-títeres, da una imagen fiel y completa del pasado (cumpliendo así su papel de novela histórica), pero proponiéndose del mismo modo hacer un texto agradable a la lectura (en particular recurriendo a los elementos específicos de la novela de intriga). De la misma forma, este artículo se propondrá recordar conocimientos históricos y biográficos del momento y personajes evocados en la novela que lo.a.s estudiantes tendrán que tener en cuenta en el momento de analizar la obra
Archives d'en bas : de la constitution à l'institutionnalisation
Publication issue d'une journée d'étude "Archives d'en bas. Matri·patrimoines archivistiques et matri·patrimonialisation France/Canada" (2022 : Québec, Québec; Angers, France).International audienceSi le terme « patrimoine » amène immédiatement de nombreuses références, à l’exception des archives,le mot « archives », de son côté, mobilise un panel d’images associées rarement liées à l’idée de patrimoine. Généralement, les archives sont identifiées à la preuve, à la recherche historique et à la mémoire, ce qui tend à les distinguer de l’objet patrimonial. Toutefois, un dialogue entre les deux notions est possible quand les archives sont appréhendées plus largement à partir de leurs usages. Les journées d’étude « Archives d’en bas. Matri·patrimoines archivistiques et matri·patrimonialisation », tenues en juin 2022, à l’Université Laval (Québec) et à l’Université d’Angers (France), proposaient de s’intéresser à la patrimonialisation d’archives en dehors des institutions archivistiques. L’accent était mis sur les projets d’archivage, les acteurs, les stratégies, les politiques d’accompagnement, les pratiques et les ensembles archivistiques sous l’angle de la constitution de patrimoines sociaux ou ordinaires.Les textes réunis ici représentent, par des études de cas, une contribution à la pensée sur les archives par en bas pour l’archivistique francophone. Les réflexions s’organisent autour de deux notions principales. D’une part, l’autodétermination (empowerment) des groupes par la constitution d’archives d’associations ou par la collecte et l’exploitation des archives militantes. D’autre part, l’institutionnalisation, en mettant en lumière le chemin ambigu qui mène, ou non, à l’intégration des archives au sein d’institutions traditionnelles de conservation

Comparison Between Effective and Individual Growth Rates in a Heterogeneous Population
Is there an advantage to heterogeneity in a population where individuals grow and divide by fission? This is a broad question, to which there is no easy universal answer. This article aims to provide a quantitative answer in the specific context of growth rate heterogeneity by comparing the fitness of homogeneous versus heterogeneous populations. We focus on size-structured populations, where the growth rate of each individual is set at birth by heredity and/or random mutations. The fitness (or Malthus parameter, or effective fitness) of such heterogeneous population is defined by its long-term behaviour, and we introduce the effective growth rate as the individual growth rate in the homogeneous population with the same fitness. We derive analytical formulae linking effective and individual growth rates in two paradigmatic cases: first, constant growth and division rates, second, linear growth rates and uniform fragmentation. Surprisingly, these two cases yield similar expressions. Then, by comparing the fitness and the effective growth rates of populations with different degrees of heterogeneity or different laws of heredity/mutation to those of average homogeneous populations, we quantitatively investigate the combined influence of heredity and heterogeneity, and revisit previous results stating that heterogeneity is beneficial in the case of strong heredity

A Parareal in time numerical method for the collisional Vlasov equation in the hyperbolic scaling: Kinetic Fluid Parareal Method

The goal is to reduce the cost of a fully kinetic simulation using a parallel in time procedure. Using the multiscale property of kinetic models, the cheap, coarse propagator consists in a fluid solver and the fine (expensive) propagation is achieved through a kinetic solver for a collisional Vlasov equation. To validate our approach, we present simulations in the 1D in space, 3D in velocity settings over a wide range of initial data and kinetic regimes, showcasing the accuracy, efficiency, and the speedup capabilities of our method
Active disturbance rejection control for four-wire inverters in standalone renewable resources-based microgrid -islanded microgrids ADRC-based control-
International audienceThis paper presents an active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) approach for three-phase four-legs voltage source inverters (FL-VSIs) in a standalone renewable energy resources (RES)-based islanded microgrid. The key purpose of the proposed approach is to improve the control robustness against load-side disturbances, power supply parameters uncertainties, and faulty operating conditions. Indeed, a notable benefit of ADRC is its ability to operate effectively without the need for precise knowledge of disturbance characteristics or accurate modeling and FL-VSI parameters. As compared with conventional PI controllers, this advanced control strategy allows improving the voltage waveforms quality and conforming to existing power quality standards and metrics while using only output voltage sensors. Extensive simulations on Matlab/Simulink software have been conducted to assess the effectiveness of the proposed approach

Microstructural features governing the effective thermal conductivity of Cu-25Cr sintered composites
International audienceMedium voltage vacuum interrupters are high-performance current interruption devices in the contemporary energy transition and electrification. The current interruption performance is directly correlated to the properties of their electrical contacts made of Cu-Cr alloys. Therefore, enhancing their performance to respond to the continuously increasing demand for higher current, higher power, and high voltage applications inherently requires the optimization of the microstructure of the Cu-Cr alloys to increase their electrical and thermal conductivity. Herein, we unveil the microstructural features governing the effective thermal conductivity of Cu-25Cr sintered composites, a subject of much less scientific attention than their electrical conductivity due to the complex microstructure-thermal conduction relationships. We coupled advanced 3D characterization techniques, namely X-ray computed tomography and atom probe tomography, with experimental and full-field numerical investigation of the effective thermal conductivity for three Cu-25Cr sintered composites having different final relative density (94, 96, and 98%). We demonstrate the synergistic effect of solid solution, interfacial thermal resistance, phase distribution on the effective thermal conductivity. Interfacial pores hinder the thermal conduction across phases. The effective thermal conductivity also decreases due to elements in solid-solution that diffused in the Cu matrix during sintering, along with interfacial thermal resistance across Cu/Cr phases. Using a full-field numerical approach, we unravel a microstructure heterogeneity-induced heat flux anisotropy contributing to the anisotropy in effective thermal conductivity.</div
