No full textInternational audienceThinking about how to welcome migrant children is crucial. Tools such as the story-drawing process can be used in this context. Drawing is a mediator in the bond with the child, as shown by the case of a boy recently arrived in Brazil, whose productions underline the importance of home and the desire to unite the family. The use of themed story-drawings appears to be relevant for migrant children and their families as a means of cultural transmission.Penser l’accueil des enfants migrants est crucial. Des outils tels que le procédé de dessins-histoires peuvent être utilisés dans ce cadre. Le dessin est un médiateur dans le lien avec l’enfant comme le montre le cas d’un garçon récemment arrivé au Brésil dont les productions soulignent l’importance de la maison ainsi que le désir d’unir la famille. The Unusual Journey of a Corn Husk
No full textInternational audienceThe Unusual Journey of a Corn Husk is a film based on an investigation by Francesca Cozzolino into the production of design objects from corn cultivation in the state of Puebla, Mexico. Using the medium of a visual narrative, this film presents the researcher's fieldwork, and the data produced in the course of her ethnographic study, combining a local context (the decline of corn from Mexico's semi-arid Mixteca region) to an event in contemporary global history (the NAFTA free trade agreements). Narrated by an animated husk of corn which performs like a voice-over, the anthropologist recounts how Mexican designer Fernando Laposse, looking for a sustainable, local approach to design and a way to support a struggling farming community, successfully persuaded a group of families from the small village of Tonahuixtla in the state of Puebla to work the land using permaculture methods (milpa) and then take charge of processing the cultivated corn husks using semi-mechanical processes to produce an elegant coating material: Totomoxtle. The voice-over, along with montage and 2D animation techniques, draws on the researcher's photographic, video, and sound documents, as well as the creation of animated images, to convey the designer's approach and the wider environmental issues this case raises. Designed according to a three-voice approach, this film brings together an anthropologist, a documentary filmmaker specializing in the documentation of collective professional activities in the sciences, Coralie Maurin, and graphic designer Juliette Nier, who works with 2D animation tools to explore phenomena and confront realities that are difficult to grasp, sometimes incongruous or complex to explain. The film explores the codes of fiction, documentary, and animation, giving viewers insight into a project positioned on the edge of crafted tradition and technical innovation. More broadly, the case of Totomoxtle raises the question of how a technique is conceived and passed on, in a context where the complex cultural, economic, political, and ecological hybridizations that characterize our contemporary worlds collide

On the weak invariance principle for random fields with commuting filtrations under L1-projective criteria
No full textWe consider a field foT_1^{i_1} o ... foT_k^{i_k} where T_1 , . . . , T_d are commuting transformations, one of them at least being ergodic. Considering the case of commuting filtrations, we are interested by giving sufficient L1-projective conditions ensuring that the normalized partial sums indexed by quadrants converge in distribution to a normal random variable. We also give sufficient conditions ensuring the weak invariance principle for the partial sums process. For the central limit theorem (CLT), the proof combines a truncated orthomartingale approximation with the CLT for orthomartingales due to Volný. For the functional form, a new maximal inequality is needed and is obtained via truncation techniques, blocking arguments and orthomartingale approximations. The case of completely commuting transformations in the sense of Gordin can be handled in a similar way. Application to bounded Lipschitz functions of linear fields whose innovations have moments of a logarithmic order will be provided, as well as an application to completely commuting endomorphisms of the m-torus. No full textInternational audiencePar l’analyse des discours de professionnels hospitaliers, confrontée à l’analyse des discours d’aidants exposés à l’expérience du mourir, nous étudions comment les personnels de santé contribuent à l’actualité du débat public sur l’aide active à mourir. Nous montrons que leur discours est marqué par une forte préformation qui impose une conception de la « fin de vie » laissant peu de place aux volonté et capacitation du patient mourant, ainsi désubjectivé. La fin de vie, construit social confrontant valeurs ontologiques et déontiques, crée une nouvelle période dans la vie. Elle instaure une normativité du mourir, vie sans vie, pour un patient objet, mais confortable, contrevenant à l’objectif affiché de la Convention citoyenne sur la fin de vie (2023)
Recycling or downcycling? The difference between raw and stabilised earth explained
No full textInternational audienceThe development of innovative earthen materials necessitates a thorough evaluation of their recyclability. Although stabilisation is often regarded as a barrier to the recyclability of earthen materials, this study investigates the feasibility of recycling compressed earth blocks (CEBs) stabilised with 5% CEM III A or NHL 3.5. To evaluate this property, the study involved repeated cycles of material characterization, compaction using the modified Proctor method, compressive strength testing, water durability tests and subsequent crushing. The raw material remained unchanged through the recycling process, retaining its clay activity, manufacturing properties, and compressive strength. In contrast, the stabilised material showed a significant decline in clay activity, rendering it negligible. After three recycling cycles, the Methylene Blue Value (MBV) of the cement- and lime-stabilised materials decreased from 0.7 to 0.1, while the materials do not show any plastic behaviour whatever their water content. Furthermore, the use of these stabilisers resulted in a decrease in the optimal dry density by 80 kg/m 3 for CEM III A and 50 kg/m 3 for NHL 3.5. Despite this reduction, there was no corresponding decrease in compressive strength following the first recycling cycle. This indicates the binder's effectiveness may remain similar because of the diminished clay activity. These results also indicate that stabilised materials must be re-stabilised during recycling to prevent a loss of compressive strength compared to the raw material. Considering these experimental results, recycling stabilised earthen materials should rather be defined as a downcycling process or a recycling process that needs additional stabiliser while raw earth displays an infinite recyclability
