An experimental residual envelope analysis-based method for incipient fault detection in induction machines

    No full text
International audienceInduction motor (IM) is a vital element of any industrial manufacturing process due to its robust construction and simple maintainability. However, an incipient fault-even on a single rotor bar-can quickly become problematic and spread to adjacent bars, exacerbated by endogenous vibrations caused by rotor imbalance. Early diagnosis is therefore crucial to prevent damage and reduce the maintenance costs required to carry out repairs. Among existing techniques, spectral analysis using Hilbert transform (HT) has long been the standard for diagnosing incipient defects, but it is less effective at detecting low-amplitude failures. In this paper, a new method, RESE (Residual Electrical Signal Extraction), is proposed to optimally assist HT in detecting incipient broken bars (BRB). Through simulations and experiments, RESE has demonstrated its ability to detect defects as small as 10 mm deep, over a load range from 0 to 100% of the rated load. The results therefore confirm that RESE is a tool of choice for the early monitoring of asynchronous motors, even when they are lightly loaded.</div

CAGES OU PARCS AVEC JARDIN d'HIVER : EFFET DES CONDITIONS DE LOGEMENT SUR LE COMPORTEMENT, LE STRESS ET LES PERFORMANCES DE LAPINS EN CROISSANCE

International audienceAt a time when inclusive writing continues to fuel political debates, we approach this practice here from a scientific perspective. The duplication of masculine and feminine forms, as one of the pillars of inclusive writing, has in recent years spread across a wide range of discourses. While the intent to duplicate masculine and feminine forms undoubtedly stems from the aim of making the feminine gender more visible, and ultimately of avoiding any form of discrimination through discourse, practices of inclusive writing are diverse. Beyond this variability, such practices frequently give rise to controversy. Taking into account the fact that only 20% of Indo-European languages display grammatical gender, this volume brings together various studies that examine the practices of this new “inclusive” writing and its effects not only in Romance languages, but also in non-Romance languages (whether Indo-European or non-Indo-European).À l’heure où l’écriture inclusive alimente toujours les débats politiques, nous abordons ici cette pratique sous un angle scientifique.

Continuity of HYM connections with respect to metric variations

    No full text
International audienceAbstract We investigate the set of (real Dolbeault classes of) balanced metrics on a balanced manifold with respect to which a torsion‐free coherent sheaf on is slope stable. We prove that the set of all such is an open convex cone locally defined by a finite number of linear inequalities. When is a Hermitian vector bundle, the Kobayashi–Hitchin correspondence provides associated Hermitian Yang–Mills connections, which we show depend continuously on the metric, even around classes with respect to which is only semi‐stable. In this case, the holomorphic structure induced by the connection is the holomorphic structure of the associated graded object. The method relies on semi‐stable perturbation techniques for geometric PDEs with a moment map interpretation and is quite versatile, and we hope that it can be used in other similar problems

Understanding longitudinal defects in flax fibres for bio-based composites: structure, mechanical impact and possible origins

    No full text
International audienceDefects in flax fibres limit the use of more sustainable load bearing composites in industry, which highlights the need for a thorough understanding of their nature. In this work, X-ray micro-tomography of flax revealed pores in the cell wall of elementary fibres: kink-bands pores and longitudinal pores, a previously unseen defect. Their morphology and organisation are examined, highlighting fibre deterioration and locally increased porosity up to 14.86 %. Finite element modelling under a 1.5 % tensile strain reveals that kink-band pores concentrate stress up to 7.15 times, while longitudinal pores reach 2.35 times compared to defect-free areas. Under tension, cracks are thus likely to initiate at kink-band defects, may propagate through longitudinal pores to other kink-bands, and lead to fibre and composite failure as these defects are favoured zones for crack initiation and propagation. In situ peeling of fibres due to knot tightening under scanning electron microscopy suggests interlaminar decohesion between cellulose macrofibrils as the origin of the longitudinal pores. The study explores hypotheses on the origin of these weak interfaces related to fibre growth and extraction processes. It provides insights for improving flax fibre properties and widening the use of more sustainable composites

    No full text
In order to improve the mechanical properties of thermoplastics while maintaining ease of shaping, discontinuous micrometric fibers are often used as reinforcement. The forming process will orient fibers in directions which are not necessarily favorable to reinforcement. It is therefore necessary to fully understand and control the orientation of these fibers to deduce the induced properties. This article presents models for predicting the flow behavior of these composites and the issues related to fiber orientation, with applications in injection molding and extrusion-based 3D printing.
