Revue : Matériaux carbonés durs pour les batteries sodium-ion (SIB) : Relation synthèse – propriétés – performances
International audienceAbstract Sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) have attracted a significant amount of interest in the past decade as a credible alternative to the lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) widely used today. The abundance of sodium, along with the potential utilization of electrode materials without critical elements in their composition, led to the intensification of research on SIBs. Hard carbon (HC), is identified as the most suitable negative electrode for SIBs. It can be obtained by pyrolysis of eco‐friendly and renewable precursors, such as biomasses, biopolymers or synthetic polymers. Distinct HC properties can be obtained by tuning the precursors and the synthesis conditions, with a direct impact on the performance of SIBs. In this work, an in‐depth overview of how the synthesis parameters of HC affect their properties (porosity, structure, morphology, surface chemistry, and defects) is provided. Several synthesis‐property relationships are established based on a database created using extensive literature data. Moreover, HC properties are correlated with the electrochemical performance (initial Coulombic efficiency (iCE) and reversible capacity) vs. Na, in half‐cells. The Na‐ion storage mechanisms and solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) formation are discussed along with the HC performance in full‐cell devices, as well as the SIB prototypes and a short history of SIBs enterprises
Sucrose and Glycerol Additives: A Way to Tune the Biological and Physicochemical Properties of Agarose Hydrogels?
International audienceAbstract Sucrose and glycerol have gained attention as additives for hydrogels, owing to their capacity to exert considerable influence over the physicochemical, mechanical, and biological characteristics of these materials. Herein, these effects on agarose hydrogels (AHs) are explored. A series of AHs are synthesized using sucrose (30% and 300% w/v) and glycerol as additives. The storage modulus (10.0–13.7 kPa) and hydrophilicity of the hydrogels (contact angle < 50°) do not vary significantly with sucrose or glycerol addition. However, sucrose enhances the hydration capacity of the hydrogels by up to 170%, whereas glycerol reduces it. Interestingly, sucrose and glycerol individually do not have bacteriostatic effects against Staphylococcus epidermidis , but their combination significantly ( p ≤ 0.001) inhibits the growth of both S. epidermidis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa by 63% and 29%, respectively, in comparison to native agarose. Cytotoxicity testing on NIH/3T3 murine fibroblasts reveals that sucrose increases cell viability up to 98%, while glycerol reduces it below 60%. Overall, these hydrogels hold promise for antibacterial biomedical applications as wound dressing materials and surface coatings for medical devices and can also be used to formulate bioinks for 3D bioprinting

“Musique et réflexivité de la littérature”
"Musique et réflexivité de la littérature” [“Music and the Reflexivity of Literature”], proposal for an issue accepted by the journal Fabula-LHT, to be published in autumn 2024. It seems important to examine the practical and genealogical conditions of the presence of music in literary theory (or in literature as (self)theory) from the German Romantic period to the present day. What predecessors do the theorists of literariness as musicality claim as their own? In reaction to which “fathers to kill” do they construct their definitions of literature? How, moreover, can we explain the permanence of the musical question in a hyper- and then epimodern literary theory seemingly freed from the dictatorship of the poetic? Finally, is literary theory itself musical, from a stylistic point of view? Could its preferred forms and genres explain the importance it attaches to comparisons with music? These are the guiding questions of this issue

Retraducción - ENTI – Encyclopedia of Translation and InterpretingRetraducir es la actividad (y el resultado) de traducir de nuevo un original a una misma lengua meta. La retraducción no debe entenderse aquí en el sentido de traducir una traducción a otra lengua (traducción indirecta, o traducción por lengua interpuesta), ni de volver a traducir un texto a su lengua original (retrotraducción). El mundo editorial prefiere ampliamente el término nueva traducción al de retraducción, para destacar la novedad de la operación, más que su repetición. Por extraño que parezca traducir algo de nuevo cuando hay tantas obras sin traducir, la retraducción parece un fenómeno constante en la historia de la traducción. Un fenómeno que ha suscitado mucho interés en los estudios de traducción, especialmente desde 2010, cuando se inició una oleada de publicaciones sobre el tema. Los estudiosos de la traducción han explorado los diversos motivos de las retraducciones: insatisfacción, necesidad de nuevas interpretaciones, censura y, sobre todo, el envejecimiento de las traducciones. Un tema muy debatido, este último, que cuestiona el estatus de la traducción al compararla con los originales (que, por cierto, raramente se “retraducen” intralingüísticamente a versiones contemporáneas de las lenguas de partida).Varios estudiosos han investigado las series de traducción, es decir, secuencias de traducciones y retraducciones a una misma lengua meta o varias, con el fin de evaluar los motivos y la frecuencia. La hipótesis de la retraducción, atribuida a Berman en 1990, postula una pauta de retraducción por la que las primeras traducciones estarían más orientadas a la lengua meta (para que el texto sea aceptable en la cultura receptora) y las sucesivas retraducciones estarían cada vez más orientadas a la lengua original. Los estudiosos han demostrado que la hipótesis es, en el mejor de los casos, simplista, dado el número de factores socioculturales diferentes que pueden determinar el alcance de las retraducciones, así como su frecuencia y orientación. Gran parte de los estudios sobre retraducción se han centrado en textos literarios o filosóficos, que parecen terreno abonado para ello. Retranslation
Retranslation - Entry for ENTI – Encyclopedia of Translation and InterpretingRetranslation is the activity (and the result) of translating anew a source text into a given target language. Retranslation is therefore not to be taken here in the sense of translating a translation into a third language (indirect translation, or relay translation), nor of translating a text back to its source language (backtranslation). The publishing world widely prefers the term new translation to retranslation, highlighting the novelty of the operation rather than its repetition. However strange it may sound to do something anew when so many works are left untranslated, retranslation appears to be a constant phenomenon in the history of translation. And one that has spawned much interest in translation studies, especially since 2010, when a wave of new publications on the subject started to appear. Translation scholars have explored the various motives for retranslations: dissatisfaction, need for new interpretations, censorship, and especially the concept of “ageing” of translations. The latter proves to be a much-debated issue, and one which questions the status of translation as compared to original works (which, incidentally, are almost never “retranslated” intralingually into contemporary versions of the source languages).Several scholars have investigated translation series, i.e., a sequence of translation and retranslations into a given target language, in order to assess motives and frequency. The retranslation hypothesis, attributed to Berman in 1990, posits a retranslation pattern where first translations would be more target-oriented (in order to make the text acceptable in the target culture) and successive retranslations would be more and more source-oriented. Scholars have shown that such a hypothesis is simplistic at best, given the number of different socio-cultural factors which may determine the extent of retranslations, as well as their frequency and orientation. Much of the scholarship on retranslation has focused on literary or philosophical texts, which appear to be the preferred ground for such operations. Design of Bismuth Tungstate Bi2WO6 Photocatalyst for Enhanced and Environmentally Friendly Organic Pollutant Degradation
International audienceIn this study, a chemical precipitation approach was adopted to produce a photocatalyst based on bismuth tungstate Bi2WO6 for enhanced and environmentally friendly organic pollutant degradation. Various tools such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), optical spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, were employed to assess the structural and morphological properties. Hence, the XRD profiles showed a well crystallized Bi2WO6 orthorhombic phase. The photocatalytic performance of the resulting photocatalyst was assessed by the decomposition of Rhodamine B (RhB) and methyl orange (MO) with a decomposition efficiency of 97 and 92%, along with the highest chemical oxygen demand of 82 and 79% during 120 min of illumination, respectively. The principal novelty of the present work is to focus on the changes in the crystalline structure, the morphology, and the optical and the photoelectrochemical characteristics of the Bi2WO6, by tuning the annealing temperature of the designed photocatalyst. Such physicochemical property changes in the as-prepared photocatalyst will affect in turn its photocatalytic activity toward the organic pollutant decomposition. The photocatalytic mechanism was elaborated based on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, photocurrent analysis, photoluminescence spectroscopy, and radical trapping measurements. The overall data indicate that the superoxide O2•− and holes h+ are the principal species responsible for the pollutant photodegradation
