Relation between Health Quality Perceptions and Patient Safety Cultures of Nurses Working in Surgical Clinics
Objective: The study was carried out to determine the effect of health quality perceptions of nurses working in surgical clinics on patient safety culture. Materials and Methods: The research is descriptive type and correlational. The sample of the research consisted of 237 nurses. Personal Information Form created by the researchers, Patient Safety Culture Scale (PSCS), and Quality Perception Scale (QPS) were used as data collection tools in the study. Data were collected between January 2021 and February 2022. Results: The total mean score obtained from PSCS was found to be 3.36±0.21 in the study. In the study, it was found that the total mean score obtained from the QPS was 82.15±6.80. A positive, moderate correlation was found between the total score of PSCS and the total score of QPS (r= 0.407, p<0.01). Conclusions: It was determined that the increase in the quality perceptions of the nurses working in the surgical clinics increased the patient safety culture. It was observed that nurses who care for surgical patients attach importance to patient safety culture, especially in terms of patient benefit. It is recommended to organize in-service training programs to increase both quality perceptions and patient safety culture of healthcare professionals
The relationship between the use of nucleos(t)ide analogs and metabolic parameters in patients with chronic hepatitis B
OBJECTIVE: In the treatment of chronic hepatitis-B (CHB), although viral rep-lication load is reduced with the use of nucle-os(t)ide analogs, the risk of cirrhosis and hepa-tocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains. We aimed to investigate the relationship between metabol-ic syndrome (MetS) and CHB of nucleos(t)ide an-alogs, which are effective in mortality-morbidity. PATIENTS AND METHODS: In patients who applied to the gastroenterology outpatient clin-ic between 2021 and 2022, we compared inac-tive HBsAg-positive patients who did not receive treatment with nucleos(t)ide analogs [entecavir (ETV), lamivudine (LAM), tenofovir disoproxil fu-marate (TDF), tenofovir alafenamide (TAF)] and medical treatment. Demographic characteristics of the patients were recorded. Lipid profile, He-moglobin A1c (HbA1c), and HOMA-IR were re-corded. The presence of hepatosteatosis was graded ultrasonographically. APRI, Forns Index, and FIB-4 score, which are indicators of non-in-vasive liver fibrosis, were evaluated. RESULTS: Of the 265 patients, 55.5% (n=147) were males and 44.5% (n=118) were females. The ages of the participants ranged from 18 to 80, with a mean age of 46.54 +/- 14.03. It was observed that 62.3% (n=165) of the cases received medical treat-ment. When the drugs used by those receiving medical treatment were examined, 70.3% (n=116) TDF, 6.1% (n=10) TAF, 3% (n=5) LAM, and 20.6% (n=34) ETV, LDL, HDL, and total cholesterol mea-surement values of those who received medical treatment were lower, while HOMA-IR values were higher compared to those who did not receive the medical treatment. While the HbA1c value of the patients using ETV was found to be high, the liv-er stiffness indicator scores of those using TDF were found to be significantly higher. CONCLUSIONS: In this study, in patients with CHB, it has been shown that medical treatment also affects MetS parameters
Exploring the Causal Relationship Among Trout Production, Price and Subsidy in Türkiye
Although there have been trout subsidies in Türkiye for many years, the fact that trout production has been below expectations, especially in recent years, has led to the need to investigate the effects of the subsidies. Thus, the present study was conducted to estimate the long-run relationship among trout production, producer price, and subsidy in Türkiye. The time-series data covering 1984-2016 regarding trout production, sales prices, and subsidies were used. The Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) and Granger Causality Analysis were utilized to estimate the time-dependent causality relationship among the variables. The VECM results, which estimate the existence of a long-run relationship among the variables, revealed that 46.8% of the long-run deviations in the price and subsidy variables will be corrected in the next period. The analysis results indicated that sales prices affect trout production negatively in the long term. Granger causality analysis indicated that the prior period values of production and price variables were the reason for the changes in the subsidy variable. In the short-term VECM model, it was revealed that changes in production and prices positively affect the subsidy. A percent increase in production and price increased the subsidy amount by 1.79 and 3.14 percent, respectively. To increase trout production, the current subsidy policy should be revised to improve the infrastructure and capacity of aquaculture farms. Subsidies for the fishery sector should also be increased in real terms to achieve their objectives
Investigation of the Effects of Smartphone Use on the Dominant Thumb and Wrist of University Students
Aim: In this study, the effects of the addiction level of smartphone use in university students on the range of motion and proprioception of the dominant hand, wrist range of motion (ROM), and thumb ROM were investigated. Material and Methods: Wrist and thumb ROMs were measured with a manual goniometer with a sensitivity of 1 degree, and hand grip strength was measured with a hand grip dynamometer in a total of 100 volunteer university students with a mean age of 18-25. Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Form (SAS-SF) and Patient Rated Wrist and Hand Evaluation (PRWHE) questionnaire were applied to the students. Statistical analyzes were made using the SPSS 25 program. Results: The students’ usage time of smartphones and addiction levels do not affect the hand grip strength; the increase in smartphone addiction statistically correlates with the right thumb flexion (0.016) and abduction ROMs (0.015), statistically correlated with increased pain level in daily life and statistically correlated with the decrease of the wrist radial deviation ROM (0.009). As the duration of smartphone use increases, the error rate in right thumb abduction proprioception statistically increases (0.027). In addition, we determined the statistically correlations in both thumb flexion and abduction movements. Conclusion: We determined that the excessive usage of smartphones affects the ROM of thumb flexion and abduction, the ROM of wrist radial deviation, and the proprioception of thumb abduction, and it does not affect the hand grip strength. The findings of our research will be a source for future studies

Effects of Off-Balance Sheet Items on the Financial Performance of Turkish Deposit Banks
In the study, the effects of off-balance sheet items on the performance of deposit banks operating in the Turkish banking sector were examined. In the study, a data set of 17 deposit banks operat- ing uninterruptedly in Turkey between 2010 and 2021 was created. In the study, the return on assets ratio and return on equity ratio, which are performance indicators, were used as dependent variables, while the independent variables were guarantee and surety, commitments, derivative financial instruments, and escrow and pledged assets obtained from the balance sheets of sample banks. The models created with the data set of the study were estimated by the system dynamic panel data analysis method. According to the findings obtained as a result of the estimation, while derivative financial instruments have a negative effect on the performance of deposit banks, the results of the performance-enhancing effect of trust and pledged assets have been obtained
Iron Deficiency may be a Risk Factor for Inguinal Hernia Development in Children
Objectives: This case control study aimed to investigate whether the routine hemogram and biochemical parameters of pediatric patients who have undergone surgery for inguinal hernia are associated with the etiopathogenesis of the disease. Methods: Eighty cases of inguinal hernia surgery performed between January 2019 and November 2022 were included in the study. A control group was also established using hospital records, consisting of eighty pediatric patients without any known his- tory of hematological or metabolic disease or use of regular medication. Statistical analysis was conducted to compare the total hemoglobin (Hgb), hematocrit (Htc), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), erythrocyte distribution width (RDW) and thrombocyte (PLT) values in both groups. Results: The age range of the pediatric patients was 1-14 years. Of the eighty children, 47 (58.8%) were male and 33 (41.3%) were female, with a mean age of 5.79±3.26. The values of Hgb, Htc, MCH, MCHC, and MCV in the inguinal hernia patients were found to be statistically significantly lower than those in the control group (p<0.05). Additionally, the patient RDW values were found to be statistically significantly higher than those in the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Compared to the control group, the observed decrease in MCH, MCHC, MCV, Hgb, HTC values, as well as the increase in RDW in patient group, suggests a predisposing effect of iron deficiency. These specific changes suggested that iron deficiency may lead structural changes in the collagen construction and may contribute the etiopathogenesis of childhood inguinal hernia
Effects of different measurements of foot angle on vital activities of hemodialysis patients
Aim: Individuals who receive hemodialysis treatment due to chronic renal failure have limitations in their daily lives and a decrease in physical activity and walking speed. In this study, we have investigated the effectiveness of various measurements of ankle angles of hemodialysis performed on patients on balance, falling risk, and daily life activities. Materials and Methods: 114 volunteer hemodialysis patients with a mean age of 30-94 have measured at the position of plantar flexion, inversion, and eversion by a 1-degree sensitivity manual goniometer. The Time Up and Go test (TUG), Lawton and Brody Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) Scale and Barthel Index (BI) were applied to the patients. Statistical analyses were made with the SPSS 25 program. Results: 55 male and 59 female participants were accompanied in the study. The average age was 62.8 ± 15.29, the average hemodialysis duration was 5.59 ± 3.92, the average body mass index was 5.08 ± 5.1 and he average number of falls was 5.59 ± 3.92. A low positive significant correlation was observed between plantar flexion and inversion foot angle measurements with The Lawton and Brody IADL scale (p<0,05). A low-level significant positive correlation was observed between the BI score and the plantar flexion angle measurements (p<0.05). A highly significant positive correlation was observed between plantar flexion angle measurement and inversion angle measurement. In contrast, a moderately significant positive correlation was observed between plantar flexion angle measurement and eversion angle measurement (p<0.05). Conclusion: We observed a decrease in daily life activities and a walking speed increase in falling risk in the diagnosis of chronic renal failure in hemodialysis patients
Detection of hateful twitter users with graph convolutional network model
Today, hate speech is widespread and persistent in various forms on social networking platforms, targeting different minority groups. These attacks can be carried out using various factors such as racial, religious, gender, and physical disability, etc. Considering the number of people and their interactions, social networks are the most important channels through which these discourses spread. The social network structure is considered a set of nodes and edges and is very suitable for the graph structure. The multidimensional structure of social networks carries social network data from Euclidean space to non-Euclidean space. In non-Euclidean space, the graph structure is used to represent data effectively. In this respect, solving the hate speech problem with graph-based methods in a complex dimensional space can produce more impressive results. In this study, a powerful method based on the Graph Convolutional Network (GCN) model, which is rarely used in this field, was proposed for the detection of hateful Twitter users in social networks. Well-known machine learning methods were used to measure the performance of this method. According to the results obtained, the proposed GCN model gave the most successful result

ANAHTAR KELİMELER: Hacıhaliloğlu, MAP, 1-MCP, GA3, CaCl2, Meyve kalitesiThis study was carried out in order to determine the effects of some pre-harvest and post-harvest applications on fruit quality and biochemical properties of Hacihaliloglu, themostimportant dried apricot cultivar of our country, in 2021-2022. In the pre-harvest period, different doses of calcium chloride (CaCl2) (30, 60 and 90 days after full flowering) were applied three times (90 days after full flowering), and gibberellic acid (GA3) (90 days after full flowering) once.1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP), known as an ethylene inhibitor, was applied to fruits harvested in the early ripening period at a dose of 625 ppb for 24 hours. 1-MCP-treated fruits, together with 1-MCP-untreated fruits were stored in modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) for 4 weeks in a cold storage at +4 ºC temperature and 90-95% relative humidity conditions. As results in 2021, before storage and after 30 days of storage, 1-MCP application and control group, the highest amount of water-soluble dry matter in fruits is 25.50 –25.10 – 26.17, fruit firmness is 5.0 – 4.41 – 3.95 kg/cm2, total phenolic content 2103.49 – 2566.99 – 2157.42 99 mg GAE/kg dry weight, total flavonoid content 340.39 – 486.13 – 459.11 mg/catechin kg has been determined, respectively. In 2022, the highest amount of water-soluble dry matter is 22.60 –24.10 – 23.97%, fruit firmness is 3.61 – 2.92 – 2.65 kg/cm2, total phenolic substance amount is 1931.32 – 2358.50 – 2268.45 mg GAE/kg dry weight, total flavonoid content ranged from 407.37 – 546.89 – 461.30 mg/catechin kg dry weight. It was determined that pre-harvest GA3 and CaCl2 and post-harvest 1-MCP applications in fruits of Hacihaliloglu apricot cultivar increased fruit quality and extending shelf life. As a result of there search, it is predicted that the storage of the dried Hacihaliloglu cultivar under MA conditions and the analysis of the changes in fruit quality during storage will positively affect the consumption and export of fresh apricots in our country.
