    REFLECTIONS OF DIGITALIZATION IN PRODUCTION ON QUALITY: EVIDENCE FROM A TEXTILE BUSINESS

    Bu araştırmanın amacı, işletmelerde üretim süreçlerinin dijitalleşmesinin kalite üzerine etkilerini ortaya koymaktır. Dijitalleşme ile işletmedeki fiziksel süreçlerin teknolojilere entegre edilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Böylece işletmelerin verimlilik, hız ve kalite gibi amaçlara ulaşması hedeflenmektedir. Bu hedefler Endüstri 4.0 döneminde bir rekabet kriteri haline dönüşmüştür. Bu kapsamda dijitalleşmenin hedeflerinden olan kalite ve kalite üzerine yapılan iyileşme çabaları bu araştırmanın temel çıkış noktasıdır. Malatya’da büyük ölçekli işletme kategorisinde sınıflandırılan ve uluslararası faaliyet gösteren bir tekstil işletmesinin dijitalleşmesine bağlı olarak ürün ve üretim süreçlerinde meydana gelen kalite değişiklikleri ve buna bağlı olarak ortaya çıkan sonuçlar araştırılmıştır. Veriler, fabrika ziyareti, yerinde gözlem ve yöneticilerle yüz yüze görüşmeler yöntemiyle toplanmıştır. Elde edilen verilere göre, tekstil işletmesi üretim süreçlerinin dijitalleşmesine bağlı olarak, kalitede önemli iyileşmeler olduğu, hata oranları, fire ve zaman kaybı gibi faktör-lerde azalmalar gerçekleştiği, üretimde daha standart ve çevre dostu ürünler üretildiği görülmüştür. Ayrıca, dijitalleşme ile kalite arasında doğrudan ve pozitif yönde bir ilişki olduğu elde edilmiştir.The aim of this research is to reveal the effects of digitalization of production processes in businesses on quality. Digitalization aims to integrate physical processes in the business with technologies. Thus, businesses aim to achieve goals such as efficiency, speed and quality. These targets have become a competitive criterion in the Industry 4.0 era. In this context, the main starting point of this research is the quality and improvement efforts made on quality, which are among the targets of digitalization. The quality changes and the results that emerged in the product and production processes due to the digitalization of a textile company classified in the large-scale enterprise category in Malatya and operating internationally were investigated. The data were collected through factory visits, workplace observations and face-to-face interviews with managers. According to the obtained data, it was observed that there were significant improvements in quality, decreases in factors such as error rates, waste and time loss, and more standard and environmentally friendly products were produced in production due to the digitalization of the textile company's production processes. In addition, it was found that there was a direct and positive relationship between digitalization and quality

    Evaluation of post-earthquake late-term trauma levels in dialysis patients and healthcare professionals

    Aim: To determine and compare the post-earthquake trauma levels of hemodialysis (HD) patients, healthcare professionals working in the HD unit, and peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients in the 11th month of two earthquakes that occurred approximately nine hours apart on February 6, 2023, and affected the east and southeast regions of Turkey. Materials and Methods: The study included a total of 162 individuals, including 87 HD and 35 PD patients who had experienced both earthquakes, and 40 healthcare professionals working in the HD unit. The post-earthquake trauma levels of the participants were assessed using the Scale That Determines the Level of the Trauma After the Earthquake (SDLTAE), consisting of a total of 20 items, developed by Tanhan et al. after the 2011 Van earthquake. The individuals with an SDLTAE score of >52 were considered highly traumatized. Results: The mean age of the participants was 53±16 years, and 79 (49%) were women. The SDLTAE score of the HD patients was found to be higher than that of the PD patients (p=0.006). There were no significant differences between the SDLTAE scores of the healthcare professionals and the HD and PD patients (p=0.419 and p=0.089, respectively). Upon comparing patients with low and high total SDLTAE scores, we observed that the rate of female individuals was higher in all groups (p0.05). Conclusion: We found that HD patients had a higher level of trauma than PD patients. Our study showed that women were more traumatized than men in sensitive groups, such as those receiving dialysis and healthcare professionals. Regularly conducting psychological assessments for dialysis patients and healthcare professionals may increase the likelihood of early intervention

    Karşı Ticaretin Özellikleri, Dış Ticaret Açığını Azaltmadaki Yeri ve Türkiye’de Uygulama Alanı

    Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye’de kronik hale gelen dış ticaret açığının azaltılmasını sağlayacak önemli yollardan biri olan karşı ticareti ve özelliklerini inceleyerek, son on yıl içinde karşı ticaretin Türkiye’deki gelişimini ve Türkiye’nin dış ticareti içindeki yerini irdelemektir. Tasarım/Yöntem: Araştırmada TÜİK’in 2014-2023 yılları arasındaki son 10 yıllık verileri kullanılarak karşı ticaretin Türkiye’nin dış ticareti içindeki yeri belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Bulgular: Yapılan incelemler neticesinde TÜİK’in verileri incelendiğinde Türkiye’de son on yıl içinde ihracatın ithalatı karşılama ortalamasının %73,8 olduğu görülmektedir. Yani, her 100 USD’lik ithalat için 73.8 USD ihracat bedeli ödenirken, kalan 26.2 USD’lik kısım Merkez Bankasının kısıtlı olan kaynaklarından karşılanmaktadır. Bu noktada özellikle petrol ve petrol ürünlerinin satın alındığı komşu ülkelerle karşı ticaretin artırılması ve bu yolla ülkeden döviz çıkışının önüne geçilmesi, ileriye yönelik atılması gereken önemli adımlardan biridir. Sınırlılıklar: Türkiye’nin dış ticaretinde kullnaıln ödeme sistemlerinin geriye yönelik araştırmasında detaylı verilerin çok daha fazla yıla yayılamaması araştırımın sınırlılıklarıdır. Özgünlük/Değer: Yapılan literatür taramasında karşı ticaretle ilgili sınırlı çalışmaların yapıldığı görülmekle beraber bu çalışmaların daha çok 1980-1990’lı yıllarda yapıldığı ve bu çalışmalarda karşı ticaretin genel yapısının incelendiği, karşı ticaretin dış ticaret açığını azaltmadaki rolüne değinilmediği görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada, karşı ticaret bu açıdan değerlendirilerek, karşı ticaretin dış ticaret açığını azaltmadaki rolü araştırılmıştır

    Identification and molecular characterization of some virus and viroid diseases in walnut and pistachio trees in the Southeastern Anatolia Region

    Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü, Bitki Koruma Ana Bilim DalıBu tez çalışması ile Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgesi'ndeki antep fıstığı ve ceviz bahçelerinde 2021-2022 yılları arasında sörveyler yapılmıştır. Bu sörveyler neticesinde; Şanlıurfa ilinden 283 antep fıstığı ile 29 ceviz örneği, Diyarbakır ilinden 78 antep fıstığı ile 133 ceviz örneği, Siirt ilinden 185 antep fıstığı ile 18 ceviz örneği ve Batman ilinden 103 antep fıstığı ile 50 ceviz örneği olmak üzere toplam 649 antep fıstığı ve 230 ceviz örneği toplanmıştır. Toplanan antep fıstığı örneklerinde; Peach latent mosaic pelamoviroid (PLMVd), Hop stunt hostuviroid (HSVd), Pistacia emaravirus B (PiVB) ile ceviz örneklerinde; Cherry leaf roll nepovirus (CLRV), Plum pox potyvirus (PPV), Peach latent mosaic pelamoviroid (PLMVd) ve Hop stunt hostuviroid (HSVd) etmenlerinin varlıkları Real-Time RT-PCR analizi ile araştırılmıştır. Real-Time RT-PCR analizleri sonucunda 649 antep fıstığı örneğinin %14.7'sinde HSVd ve %5.4'ünde PLMVd tespit edilmiş olup, %0.9'u ise HSVd+PLMVd etmenleri ile karışık infekteli bulunmuştur. Testlenen antep fıstığı örneklerinde PiVB etmenine rastlanılmamıştır. Testlenen 230 ceviz örneğinin ise %11.3'ünde HSVd, %12.6'sında PPV, %42.2'sinde CLRV ve %5.7'sinde PLMVd tespit edilmiş olup, %7.8'i PPV+CLRV, %1.3'ü PPV+HSVd, %0.4'ü PPV+PLMVd, %1.3'ü HSVd+PLMVd, %2.2'si HSVd+CLRV, %2.2'si PLMVd+CLRV ve %0.4'ü HSVd+CLRV+PLMVd etmenleri ile karışık infekteli bulunmuştur. Her ili temsilen tek enfeksiyon olarak tespit edilen izolatlardan rastgele seçilen birer PLMVd, HSVd, CLRV ve PPV izolatının moleküler karakterizasyon çalışmaları gerçekleştirilmiştir. Nükleik asit dizisi elde edilen izolatlar dünyada tespit edilmiş diğer izolatların nükleik asitleri ile PLMVd izolatları için %93-100, HSVd izolatları için %89.5-100, CLRV izolatları için %87.1-98.6, PPV izolatları için %91.4-99.3 arasında değişen oranlarda benzerlik gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Bu çalışma ile PLMVd varlığı antep fıstığında ve HSVd varlığı cevizde dünyada ilk defa tespit edilmiştir. PPV varlığı ise cevizde dünyada ilk defa moleküler olarak tespit edilmiştir.Surveys were conducted in walnut and pistachio plantations in the Southeastern Anatolia Region in 2021–2022 for this thesis study. 230 walnut and 649 pistachio samples were collected as a result of these surveys; the provinces of Şanlıurfa provided 283 and 29 walnut samples, Diyarbakır provided 78 and 133 walnut samples, Siirt provided 185 and 18 walnut samples, and Batman provided 103 and 50 walnut samples. Real-Time RT-PCR analysis was used to investigate the presence of Cherry leaf roll nepovirus (CLRV), Plum pox potyvirus (PPV), Peach latent mosaic pelamoviroid (PLMVd), and Hop stunt hostuviroid (HSVd) in the collected pistachio samples and Pistacia emaravirus B (PiVB) in the walnut samples. Real-Time RT-PCR tests revealed that of 649 pistachio samples, 14.7% had HSVd and 5.4% had PLMVd infection. Furthermore, mixed infections of PLMVd and HSVd were present in 0.9% of the samples. PiVB was not detected in any of the tested samples. Among the 230 walnut samples examined, 11.3% had HSVd, 12.6% had PPV, 42.2% had CLRV, and 5.7% had PLMVd. Additionally, 7.8% of the samples had PPV+CLRV, 1.3% had PPV+HSVd, and 0.4% had mixed infections with PPV+PLMVd, 1.3% had HSVd+PLMVd, 2.2% had HSVd+CLRV, 2.2% had PLMVd+CLRV, and 0.4% had HSVd+CLRV+PLMVd factors. Molecular characterization studies were carried out by randomly cloning one PLMVd, HSVd, CLRV, and PPV isolate from the isolates detected as single infections in each province. Nucleic acid sequences from the isolates revealed similarities with other isolates found worldwide, with rates ranging from 89.5–100% for HSVd isolates, 87.1–98.6% for CLRV isolates, and 91.4–99.3% for PPV isolates. These similarities were found in the isolates from which nucleic acid sequences were obtained. This study reports the first-ever detection of PLMVd in pistachios and HSVd in walnuts. Molecular evidence for PPV was discovered in walnuts for the first time ever

    FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY IN FOOTBALL CLUBS

    The aim of this research is to examine financial sustainability in football clubs. Document analysis technique, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. In the process of data analysis, document analysis method was used. Within the scope of the research, previous academic studies, articles and reports on financial sustainability, football economics, European Football Associations Association practices and financial management of football clubs were analysed. In addition, official documents such as sector reports and Financial Fair Play reports that address the financial situation and financial performance of football clubs were utilised. It has been determined that revenue diversification, budget management and financial discipline strengthen the financial stability of clubs and provide competitive advantage. Infrastructure investments and digital financial instruments are found to contribute to long-term success by reducing the costs of clubs. Regulations such as Financial Fair Play are critical for maintaining the economic stability of clubs and attracting investors. In addition, strategic partnerships and investor support have been found to strengthen the financial sustainability of clubs and increase competitiveness in the international market. As a result, a comprehensive budget management and financial discipline are required to ensure the financial sustainability of football clubs. However, strategic partnerships and digital financial tools contribute to long-term success by increasing the clubs’ international competitiveness and economic stability

    Sandfly Fever-Related Acute Hepatitis Outbreak After Kahramanmaraş Earthquake

    Introduction: Sandfly fever virus, a member of the Phlebovirus (Bunyaviridae family), can cause sandfly fever, also known as “Pappataci fever”. This vector-related disease occurs primarily in endemic regions during the summer months. Epidemics may develop in different regions if favorable environmental conditions and vector transport are present. Laboratory changes, such as elevated transaminases and creatine kinase levels, leukopenia, and thrombocytopenia, may be observed in sandfly fever. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the laboratory results and progression of sandfly fever cases, which were concentrated in the conditions developing in the earthquakeaffected region. Materials and Methods: Seventeen sandfly fever cases who were followed up in our clinic between August and October 2023 were included in the study. These cases were patients who presented with non-specific complaints related to infection in the earthquakeaffected area after the February 6 Kahramanmaraş earthquake and had acute hepatitis with elevated transaminases, creatine kinase, and C-reactive protein (CRP). The study retrospectively evaluated the laboratory results and findings of cases positive for the sandfly fever virus. Results: Of the cases, 58.8% were male (n= 10), 41.2% were female (n= 7), with a mean age of 40.88 ± 19.59. The mean aspartate aminotransferase (AST) was calculated as 325.53 U/L, alanine aminotransferase (ALT) as 311.88 ± 282.36 U/L, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) as 109.64 ± 49.59 U/L, gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) as 80.82 ± 71.05 U/L, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) as 564.47 ± 404.57 IU/L and creatine kinase (CK) as 872.38 U/L. Of the 17 cases, nine had leukopenia (53%), nine had neutropenia (53%), and five had lymphopenia (29.4%). Thrombocytopenia was observed in seven cases (41.1%). The mean CRP level was high at 3.78 mg/dL. Acute renal failure was also present in three cases. The cases were discharged after supportive treatment and observation, with improvements in both clinical and laboratory findings. Conclusion: Our study showed that sandfly virus-related epidemics may occur, particularly during warm months, when suitable conditions develop, such as after an earthquake. Additionally, it was determined that an acute hepatitis presentation, characterized by a significant increase in transaminases and creatine kinase, can be observed in sandfly virus infection. Our study also indicates that caution should be exercised regarding the potential for larger and more serious epidemics that may affect the region, especially during the summer months, if current conditions persist

    Rethinking of Government Institutions and Governance Quality Indicators on Economic Growth in Sub-Saharan African Countries

    The study aims to investigate the effect of governance quality on economic growth and government consumption in Sub-Saharan African countries. Balanced dynamic panel data for 36 Sub-Saharan African countries from 2011 to 2022 were analyzed using GMM and Driscoll-Kraay regressions. In addition to the fact that there is no study in the literature that examines the effect of state governance indicators on economic growth in SSA countries, the addition of government consumption variable as a second dependent variable adds originality to the study. The empirical analysis revealed that government institutions have a positive effect and are significant in SSA countries' economic growth. In addition, according to the Driscoll-Kraay regression, it is seen that governments' development of institutions increases government consumptions. The governance indicators threshold that strengthens the government institution in Sub-Sahara Africa must be reached to increase the economic growth of Sub-Sahara Africa. For economic growth, effective government institutions and governance quality policies should be practiced and maintained among the Sub-Saharan African countries

    A RESEARCH ON ELECTRODE APPLICATIONS: SYNTHESIS OF NICKEL-DOPED GRAPHENE OXIDE

    In today's technology, carbon-based materials (such as graphene, graphene oxide, carbon nanotubes, etc.) have become one of the most important research areas due to a large number of applications. Graphene oxide (GO) is being investigated in many applications, especially in the energy field. In this study, GO was synthesized by a modified Hummer’s method. After the synthesis of GO, nickel addition to the struc-ture was made by the hydrothermal method. The morphological and structural prop-erties of the synthesized GO were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET). Ac-cording to the BET results, the surface areas of untreated GO and Ni-doped graphene oxide after heat treatment at 360°C (Ni-doped GO 360) were calculated as 3.22 m2 g-1 and 228 m2 g-1, respectively. Electrochemical properties of GO and Ni-doped GO 360 were analyzed using cyclic voltammetry (CV), long term charge/discharge analysis and impedance spectroscopy. At the end of 1000 cycles, it was determined that the Ni-doped GO 360 electrode retained 76% of its initial capacitance

    İkinci Ürün Koşullarında Mısır-Maş Fasulye Üretiminde Farklı Ekim Sistemlerinin Silaj Kalite ve Fermentasyonuna Etkisi

    Birlikte üretim, bir veya daha fazla benzer olmayan bitkinin aynı sıralarda veya farklı sıralarda birlikte yetiştirilmesi olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bu çalışma, Kahramanmaraş ekolojik koşullarda mısır+maş fasulyesi bitkilerinin aynı sıra üzerinde farklı ekim desenlerinin (saf mısır (% 100 mısır), saf maş fasulyesi (% 100 maş fasulyesi), 1M + 1MFS (% 50 mısır + % 50 maş fasulyesi), 1M + 1MFA (% 100 mısır + % 100 maş fasulyesi), 2M + 1MFA (% 100 mısır + % 50 maş fasulyesi), 3M + 1MFA (% 100 mısır + % 33 maş fasulyesi) ve 3M + 1MFS (% 75 mısır + % 25 maş fasulyesi) verim ve silaj kalitesine etkisini incelemek üzere gerçekleştirilmiştir. Deneme tesadüf bloklar deneme desenine göre üç tekrarlamalı olarak yürütülmüştür. Çalışma sonucunda toplam yeşil ot verimi 316-7430 kg da-1, silaj kuru madde (T60) oranı % 24.27-31.45, silaj pH’sı 3.81-4.86, laktik asit bakteri sayısı 4.54-5.74 (log10 cfu g silaj-1), maya sayısı 3.80-6.31 (log10 cfu g silaj-1) olarak belirlenmiştir. Silajların ham protein içeriğinin % 6.09-14.55, NDF içeriğinin % 43.62-50.44, ADF içeriğinin % 26.06-30.91 arasında değiştiği tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, birlikte üretim sistemi ile kaliteli kaba yem üretiminde artış sağlanmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular sonucunda ikinci ürün koşullarında yüksek ot verimi ve kaliteli bir silaj için 3M+1MFA ekim sistemi önerilmektedir

    Weeds in the cotton growing areas in the Southeastern Anatolia Region

    The Southeast Anatolia Region plays an important role, as it accounts for around sixty percent of Türkiye's cotton production. One of the most important factors limiting cotton cultivation is weeds. The aim of this study was to determine the weed species, their frequency and population density in the cotton growing areas of the Southeast Anatolia region. For this purpose, surveys were conducted in 152 cotton growing areas in Diyarbakır, Mardin and Şanlıurfa provinces in 2020 and 2021. The surveys were conducted using the segmented sampling method. As a result of the studies, 43 weed species belonging to 16 families were identified. When the weed species found in cotton are evaluated by family, the Poaceae family ranks first with 7 species, followed by Asteraceae with 6 species, Euphorbiaceae and Amaranthaceae with 5 species. redroot pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus L.), field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis L.), purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus L.), jungle rice (Echinochloa colonum (L.) Link), ground cherry (Physalis spp.), common purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.), black night shade (Solanum nigrum L.), johnson grass [Sorghum halepense (L.). Pers] and common cocklebur (Xanthium strumarium L.) were identified as the most common weed species. These weeds are widespread in many summer crops, especially in cotton. The development of effective management methods against these weeds in cotton will contribute to higher yields
