No full textInternational audienceDans le cadre du séminaire LOCUS (2025-2026), cette communication étudie le discours que développent les textes latins de magie savante, et en particulier du magie rituelle, des XIIe-XVe siècles sur le choix du lieu des opérations magiques, marqué par l'impératif du secret, entre lieu sauvage et lieu domestique ou privé, ainsi que les modes de construction de l'espace rituel (généralement circulaire) et de sa sacralité. Si le lieu des cérémonies magiques est généralement un lieu en retrait, s'il peut aussi, le cas échéant, être pluriel, il n'est pas sans relations avec l'église, l'autel et la liturgie, tant le maître-conjurateur cherche à renforcer son pouvoir informel, fondé sur des textes à la faible autorité dans la typologie des savoirs médiévaux, par la captation du sacré encadré par l'institution ecclésiastique. Une part de l'analyse est aussi réservée aux représentations du lieu magique que l'on repère dans les chroniques et les actes de procès à la fin du Moyen Âge

If the bronze statue that the public authority erects to Clélie shows her exemplarity, the texts are more reliable in ensuring the lasting of the fama: Christine modifies the value of the exemplum of Lucretia's suicide. She builds on parchment the City of stones, populated by women who are"good examples", and thus builds her own reputation as an exemplary writer.Nous nous demanderons quelle autorité décide de rendre un exemplum exemplaire et assure sa fama, dans La Cité des dames de Christine de Pizan. Si la statue de bronze que l’autorité publique élève à Clélie signale son exemplarité, les textes sont plus durables pour assurer la pérennité de la fama : Christine, en reprenant le suicide de Lucrèce modifie la valeur de l’exemplum. First Ga<sub>2</sub>Se<sub>3</sub> infrared transparent chalcogenide ceramics
No full textInternational audienceFully dense infrared (IR) transparent chalcogenide ceramics were obtained from densification of Ga2Se3 crystalline powder by Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) under vacuum. Promising results were attained such as a maximum transmission of 63 % at lambda = 11 mu m, close to the maximum value of transmittance previously measured for single crystals, a wide transparency spectral range (4-16 µm), and a refractive index of 2.58 at lambda = 1.55 µm. Electron Back Scattered Diffraction (EBSD) was used to elucidate grain microstructure, showing randomly oriented particles and a bimodal grain size distribution. These ceramics exhibit expected mechanical properties for selenide materials with a Vickers hardness of 287 kg/mm2 and a Young's modulus of 52 GPa

Global transport of stratospheric aerosol produced by Ruang eruption from EarthCARE ATLID, limb-viewing satellites and ground-based lidar observations
No full textInternational audienceThe Atmospheric LIDar (ATLID) instrument of the ESA’s Earth Cloud, Aerosol and Radiation Explorer (EarthCARE) satellite mission launched in May 2024 provides high-resolution vertical profiling of aerosols and clouds at 355 nm. Fully operational since July 2024, ATLID has been witness to a significant perturbation of stratospheric aerosol budget following the eruptions of Ruang volcano (Indonesia) in late April 2024. Using ATLID together with limb-viewing satellite instruments (OMPS-LP and SAGE III), we quantify the stratospheric aerosol perturbation generated by the Ruang eruption and characterize the global transport of volcanic aerosols. To evaluate the ATLID performance in the stratosphere, its data are compared with collocated ground-based lidar observations at various locations in both hemispheres and overpass-coordinated balloon flights carrying AZOR backscatter sonde. The intercomparison with suborbital observations suggests excellent performance of ATLID in the stratosphere and proves its capacity to accurately resolve fine structures in the vertical distribution of stratospheric aerosols. Using various satellite observations, we show that Ruang’s eruptive sequence in April 2024 produced eruptive columns reaching 25 km altitude, and resulted in a doubling of the tropical stratospheric aerosol abundance for several months. The eruption timing in austral Fall and its high-altitude reach fostered efficient poleward transport into the southern extratropics during austral Winter 2024. By the time of the austral Fall 2025, the sulphate aerosols from Ruang have spread across the entire Southern hemisphere and were most probably entrained by the 2025 Antarctic polar vortex, potentially enhancing the polar stratospheric cloud occurrence

Sans elles, pas de force de travail, pas d’économie : c’est ce qu’on appelle le travail reproductif.Cet essai écrit à quatre mains croise les apports des féminismes, de l’économie et de l’histoire des luttes sociales, pour mettre en lumière ce travail de l’ombre.Une puissante critique du capitalisme, enracinée dans l’expérience concrète de millions de personnes, qui enjoint les lecteurs et lectrices à réinventer l’organisation du travail et de la société tout entière

New multi-chronological data from the Ravin Blanc IV site: implications for the Acheulean in Western Africa
No full textInternational audienceDuring the last decades, the multidisciplinary research led in Western Africa has significantly advanced our understanding of the Middle Stone Age. However, population dynamics, technological behaviors, and chronology for the Early Stone Age, particularly the Acheulean, in this region, remain enigmatic due to 1) the near absence of in situ Acheulean assemblages, 2) the poor preservation of Pleistocene sedimentary sequences, and 3) the limited availability of well-established dating methods. This situation is beginning to change thanks to the discovery of two well-preserved in situ Acheulean sites (Chacal and Ravin Blanc IV) in the Falémé Valley (eastern Senegal), which are currently being studied as part of the international program “Human Populations and Palaeoenvironment in Africa – Falémé Project.” Specifically, a multi-dating approach has been applied to constrain the Acheulean lithic assemblages at the Chacal open-air site, including ESR and OSL dating on quartz grains and IRSL dating on feldspars from the same samples. We present here these dating results and discuss their implications both at West African and Pan-African scales
