The effect of ShotBlocker on pain and satisfaction during measles-rubella-mumps vaccination: A randomized controlled trial
Aim: The study aim to evaluate the effect of shotblocker on pain and satisfaction during measles-mumps-rubella vaccination among infants. Method: A randomized controlled experimental design was used. The study was conducted between August and October 2024 at a Family Health Centre under the Public Health Directorate in eastern Turkey. The sample consisted of 60 infants receiving MMR vaccination, divided into two groups: the ShotBlocker group (n = 30) and the control group (n = 30). Infants in the ShotBlocker group were vaccinated using the ShotBlocker device, while those in the control group underwent routine vaccination without additional intervention. Data were collected using the FLACC Pain Scale and the Newcastle Satisfaction with Nursing Care Scale (NEW-SNCS). Ethical principles were strictly followed. Results: Observations by mothers and nurses indicated significantly lower pain scores during and after vaccination in the ShotBlocker group compared to the control group (p < 0.001). Mothers' satisfaction scores with nursing care were significantly higher in the ShotBlocker group (p < 0.001). Additionally, pulse rates following vaccination were lower in the ShotBlocker group, reflecting reduced physiological stress responses (p < 0.001). Conclusion: ShotBlocker effectively reduces vaccination pain, improves maternal satisfaction, and lessens physiological stress. Its low cost and ease of use support its potential for routine immunization. Further studies are needed to assess its effectiveness across different age groups and clinical contexts. Practice implications: ShotBlocker is a simple, low-cost, and effective method to reduce pain and improve parental satisfaction during vaccination, supporting its broader use in practice

The novel is considered the “Diwan of the Arabs” in the modern era due to its influential role in the literary historiography of events and developments. Palestinian writers, especially those detained in Israeli prisons, have leaned on the art of the novel to convey their experiences with the Israeli enemy. They narrate their experiences with high sensitivity and precision. In light of this, the researcher examined the narrative experience of a young writer imprisoned in Israeli gaols since 2004, focusing on the psychological and ideological conflict experienced by the protagonist when embodying the character of an Ashkenazi Jew. This was explored through dual dialogues between the protagonist (Nur) and the adopted persona (Or). The study includes an introduction, a preface, two chapters, and a conclusion. The introduction highlights the importance, reasons, issues, and methodology of the research, as well as the author’s biography and the artistic content of the novel, followed by an overview of Palestinian prison literature. The first and second chapters discuss the mechanisms of psychological and ideological conflict in the novel through an analysis of narrative excerpts related to these aspects. In the conclusion, we presented several findings, including the Palestinian writer’s ability to harness the art of the novel to highlight the role of prison literature in conveying a vivid and truthful portrayal of the Israeli occupier
The Book of Dede Korkut consists of stories that are of great importance for the Turkic language and literature and have influenced the entire Turkish world. Although they were written in Oghuz Turkish, they influenced the literature and oral traditions of other Turkic dialects, and different variants of the stories in this book were passed down from generation to generation in the Turkish world. This study is about a story called Arslan Bek, written by Can Şeref and published by Maarif Publishing House in Kazan in 1919. This story is the first adapted translation of the Boğaç Han epic in Turkic dialects. Although the work is a relic of Tatar Turkish with Arabic letters and was translated from Oghuz Turkish, the author was careful not to reflect the language characteristics of this dialect group and kept the epic narrative in the Dede Korkut stories in the foreground. There are some similarities and differences between the two stories. These were examined in the study together with the transcribed text of the story, its translation into Turkish, and language analysis. This study shows that the Dede Korkut stories are not only a product of the Turkish dialects belonging to the Oghuz group, but are told throughout the Turkish world, listened to with interest, and adapted. One of the best examples of this is the translation of one of these stories, Boğaç Han, into Kazan Tatar Turkic under the name Arslan Bek in 1919. Because before this date, the Dede Korkut stories had not been translated or adapted even into the dialects of the Oghuz group. In addition, this storybook brings to mind the idea that the author might have seen a copy of the Book of Dede Korkut other than the ones we have in Kazan and adapted the Boğaç Han epic from it into Kazan Tatar Turkic
