Structural, magnetic, and blood compatibility studies of Nickel-Copper nanoferrites produced by laser ablation technique
No full textThis study explores the effects of Cu substitution on the structural, morphological, and magnetic properties of nickel ferrite nanoparticles, Ni1-xCuxFe2O4, where x = 0.25, 0.50, and 0.75. SEM analysis revealed that the particles are spherical with an average size of 7 nm. The Nickel-Copper ferrite nanoparticles presented a characteristic XRD diffraction corresponding to the cubic spinel structure of the Fd3m space group, with no secondary phases formed due to Cu substitution. The crystal sizes of Ni-Cu spinel ferrites were calculated via Debye-Scherrer formula to be between 44.9 and 52 nm. FT-IR results indicated an increase in the force constants of octahedral and tetrahedral bonds with higher Cu content, as evidenced by the main vibration bands. M-H curves displayed S-shaped behavior, suggesting that Cu substitution does not cause drastic changes in magnetic properties. The coercivity field (Hc), saturation magnetization (MS), and remanent magnetization (Mr) values ranged between 13.54 and 6.14 Oe, 48.8–52.7 emu/g, and 0.57–1.14 emu/g, respectively. Blood compatibility experiments showed that the Ni0.25Cu0.75Fe2O4 composition exhibited the highest blood compatibility at low concentrations among the studied samples

PERCEPTIONS ON THE ROLE OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IN EDUCATION AND YOUTH WELLBEING: A STUDY ON HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS AND STUDENTS
No full textThis study aims to evaluate the place and importance of physical activity in education through the views of high school students and teachers. Using a qualitative methodology, semistructured interviews were conducted with physical education and sports teachers and students in high schools located in Hakkari and Van, Turkey. The sample consisted of 31 students (29% female, 71% male, mean age=15.32 years) and 15 teachers (47% female, 53% male, mean age=33.80 years). A phenomenological design was adopted to explore the perceived effects of physical activity on students’ academic, personal, and social development. Findings suggest that physical activity contributes positively to students’ motivation, physical fitness, responsibility, and life experience. However, time management difficulties and reduced study time were identified as negative aspects. Participants highlighted that sports classes and school teams enhance students’ self-confidence, discipline, and social interaction skills. Challenges such as limited emphasis on sports in the education system, lack of specialised teachers and inadequate physical infrastructure were also noted. In addition, students’ perceptions of violence during sports activities were examined, revealing various negative psychological effects. Overall, the study emphasises the need for regionally sensitive, balanced and wellstructured physical activity programmes to support students’ educational and developmental outcomes
Optimization of laser process parameters and improved corrosion behaviour of LZ/YSZ thermal barrier coating
No full textLaser processing the surfaces of plasma-sprayed thermal barrier coatings is one of the methods used to improve the corrosion resistance of the coatings. However, laser glazing alone is not sufficient to fully protect coatings from corrosion. In this study, optimum laser surface modification parameters were determined for plasma-sprayed LZ/YSZ double-layer thermal barrier coatings. The coating surface, whose entire surface was scanned with optimum parameters, was modified with nano YSZ using the electrophoretic deposition technique. Thus, the network cracks formed during laser glazing were f illed with nano YSZ. The coating modified by laser and electrophoretic deposition processes was subjected to corrosion tests. As a result of the characterizations, it was determined that the optimum laser surface modification parameters for LZ/YSZ thermal barrier coatings were 200 mm laser distance, 120 scan speed, and 28w laser power. With these parameters, discontinuities on the as-sprayed coating surface were eliminated. A dense layer was successfully created on the LZ layer. As a result of the corrosion tests, it was determined that modifying the laser-glazed surface with nano YSZ reduced the penetration depth of corrosive contaminants. Thus, the glassy melt and hot corrosion resistance of LZ/YSZ thermal barrier coatings was increased.</p
