Unsupervised attention-guided domain adaptation model for Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) diagnosis

No full text
Background and Objective: Acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) is a dangerous disease characterized by an increased number of abnormal blood cells in the blood. Its early diagnosis and treatment are crucial, as it can lead to severe consequences if left untreated. Manual examination of blood samples by pathologists and/or hematologists is time-consuming and requires expert skill, so automated and fast solutions need to be developed. However, the marginal data distribution of samples taken from subjects under certain conditions is a major obstacle to building a model that works on datasets obtained under different conditions. Labeling the new dataset also means extra costs. Methods: Considering these reasons, this study proposes an attention-enhanced generative adversarial network (GAN) model to move two datasets with different structures into the same feature space. The proposed model is used to transfer the blast and normal cells to the target domain regardless of the background to eliminate the domain difference between the datasets. Results: By learning the complex structure and class features of the cells in an unsupervised manner, the labeling cost is eliminated and it is shown that the trained classifier achieves better results than other domain adaptation methods in the literature. Conclusion: At the end of the study, it was seen that attention mechanisms are highly skilled in extracting the useful parts from the data. In this way, domain mismatch between datasets could be eliminated

Revisiting Reaction Mechanism of Regioselective Disulfide-Catalyzed Photocatalytic Aerobic Oxidative Cleavage of 1-Arylbutadienes: A Computational Study

No full text
A computational study of the regioselective aerobic oxidative cleavage of 1-arylbutadienes is carried out employing density functional theory and high-level coupled-cluster methods, such as coupled-cluster singles and doubles with perturbative triples [CCSD(T)]. The results demonstrate that the reaction proceeds either via the intramolecular reduction or dimerization of peroxyl radical. These findings are in contrast to a previously proposed mechanism that progresses via formation of the dioxetane ring. The computations further indicate that the homolysis of S-S bond of diaryl disulfide derivatives cannot be achieved by irradiation with direct visible light under the reaction conditions due to the high bond dissociation energy

This research addresses the comprehensive effects of social media use among high school students. It aims to uncover both the positive and negative outcomes of this significant phenomenon in the digital age. Employing a phenomenological methodology, the study was conducted through in-depth interviews with 22 high school students. This method seeks to comprehensively understand students' experiences, perceptions, and the impacts of these platforms on their daily lives. Students have utilized social media for a wide array of content ranging from educational materials to personal care, fashion, and social relationships. These platforms have provided students with opportunities to connect with peers who have similar interests and to expand their social support networks, thereby enhancing their social connections and cultural enrichment. Additionally, constant exposure to an information stream can lead to information overload and forgetting important information. This situation has led to increased feelings of fatigue and ennui among students, creating adverse psychological effects such as decreased attention span and increased stress on academic performance. Consequently, this research underscores the importance of educators carefully monitoring social media use and developing supportive strategies to instill healthy usage habits among students, to better understand and guide the effects of social media on youth

Geometric and wave optics in a BTZ optical metric-based wormhole

No full text
We investigate the geometric and wave optical properties of a (2+1)-dimensional ultra-static spacetime conformally related to the static BTZ black hole, characterized by constant negative Gaussian curvature. The associated optical metric defines a hyperbolic wormhole geometry, wherein null geodesics experience a Pöschl–Teller-type repulsive effective potential that suppresses circular photon orbits and directs all trajectories toward the optical origin. In the wave regime, we reformulate the Helmholtz equation into a Schrödinger-like form, revealing a spatially localized effective potential that encodes curvature and angular momentum effects. The resulting refractive index n(ρ,ω)n(\rho,\omega) is both spatially and spectrally dispersive, leading to a position-dependent critical frequency ωc(ρ)\omega_c(\rho) that delineates the boundary between propagating and evanescent modes. At high frequencies, the medium becomes asymptotically transparent, while for ω<ωc(ρ)\omega < \omega_c(\rho), waves undergo exponential attenuation. These results demonstrate intrinsic curvature-induced spectral filtering and provide a geometrically tunable framework for analog gravity systems and graphene-based photonic platforms.</p

Cu(II)-Aminotetrazole Complex Anchored on SBA-15: A High-Performance Catalyst for the Synthesis of 1,4-Disubstituted-1,2,3-Triazoles

No full text
This research focuses on developing and thoroughly analyzing a copper catalyst anchored to SBA-15. The catalyst was prepared via stepwise functionalization of SBA-15, involving successive treatments with (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES), trichlorotriazine, and 5-aminotetrazole to form SBA@bis(ATET). Coordination with Cu(OAc)2 in acetonitrile yielded the final complex, SBA@bis(ATET)-Cu(II). Characterization techniques included FT-IR, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface analysis, cross-polarization/magic angle spinning 13C NMR (CP/MAS 13C NMR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Catalytic studies demonstrated that SBA@bis(ATET)-Cu(II) efficiently catalyzed the synthesis of 1,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazoles through the reaction of acetylenes, benzyl or alkyl halides, and sodium azide, achieving excellent yields under optimized conditions. The catalyst exhibited excellent recyclability, maintaining activity over five cycles with minimal deactivation and low copper leaching (1.25%) in the first cycle, highlighting its robustness and sustainability for organic synthesis applications
