Courage, Cowardice, and TheNatural World: a Study of the RedBadge of Courage
Crane’in açık birşekilde belirttiği gibi, “Doğa onun ölüp ölmemesiniasla umursamayacaktır” (1960, s. 47). Elinizdeki çalışma, Crane’in anlatısında hem doğa ve insan arasındaki girift bağlantıları hem de kahramanın dönüştürücü yolculuğunu keşfetmeyi amaçlamaktadır.”Anahtar Kelimeler: Savaş, Stephen Crane,Doğa, Cesaret, Korkaklık.</p
Ray and wave optics in twisted graphene nanoribbons
We investigate ray trajectories and wave propagation on a continuous helicoidal surface describing twisted graphene nanoribbons (TGNRs), treating the surface as a distortion-free structure and neglecting lattice discreteness and variations in hopping parameters. This low-dimensional curved geometry is described by a radial coordinate u ∈ [−d/2,d/2] and an angular coordinate v ∈ [−ℓ/2,ℓ/2], where d and ℓ are the ribbon's width and total length, respectively. We derive a closed-form expression for the angular velocity of rays, with an analytical solution for the full trajectory being achievable only for narrow helicoids (u4 ≈ 0). We then solve the Helmholtz equation on the twisted surface, transforming it into a one-dimensional Schrödinger-like form, which yields a refractive index dependent on radial position and frequency, controlled by the number of twists along the ribbon. We identify critical thresholds that distinguish regimes where the refractive index is real or complex, determined by the radial distance, twist count, and frequency. These results demonstrate that the refractive index can be continuously tuned by varying the twist count, suggesting that TGNRs could serve as frequency-selective photonic filters or waveguides.</p

Development of 6–12 years-old child sleep habits scale and investigation of its psychometric properties
Background: Sleep and sleep habits in children are important in terms of bio-psycho-social aspects. The aim of this research was to develop a new scale under the name of the evaluation of sleep and sleep habits of children aged 6–12. 600 children aged 6–12 years constituted the sample of the study. Methods: The parents of the children were asked to answer the question list in the sleep habits scale of 6-12-year-old children, in which sleep and sleep habits were evaluated, which was formed by the socio-demographic information from an expert opinion by the research team. To examine the reliability of the scale based on internal consistency, Cronbach and Omega alpha coefficients were calculated, and test–retest analysis and criterion validity were performed to determine the stability of the scale and whether it could make consistent measurements over time. Results: In the correlation coefficient used as a test–retest reliability method, there were moderate and high levels of positive and significant correlations between the scores obtained from the first and second applications. According to the criterion validity findings, a moderately positive and significant relationship was found between the scores obtained from the overall sleep habits scale and the scores obtained from the overall child sleep habits questionnaire (r = 0.61; p < 0.01). Conclusion: These results showed that the 6–12 age child sleep habits scale, which is a parent-reported scale, is a valid and reliable new scale that can evaluate sleep and sleep habits of children and screen for potential sleep problems
Review: recent developments in 2D MXene-filled bioinspired composites for biomedical applications
Abstract: Two-dimensional carbide- and nitride-based MXene materials have become some of the most studied materials in interdisciplinary fields due to their superior properties. This review comprehensively discusses recent advances in MXene materials such as bioinspired coating films, scaffolds, and electrochemical activities for use in biomedical fields. MXene consists of multilayer 2D nitride, carbide, or carbonitride flakes with excellent electrical conductivity, large surface area, and good mechanical properties. Bibliometric studies have revealed a sharp increase in the number of publications and citations, having reached 15,831 records as of February 2025. Notably, the number of citations surged from under 20 in 2012 to over 222,000 in 2024. Due to being two-dimensional materials with superior physicochemical and biological properties, MXenes are also being increasingly used in biomedical and engineering applications. They have been reported to be ideal for such biomedical applications as corrosion-resistant biofilms, biocompatibility, low toxicity, drug delivery, and tissue engineering. In addition, MXene-based scaffolds have emerged as a promising material for bone tissue engineering due to their extraordinary mechanical durability, biocompatibility, and adjustable surface properties. By aiding tissue regeneration and preventing infections, MXene scaffolds have also been found to exhibit enhanced drug delivery and antibacterial properties. Recent advances in materials science have focused on creating bioinspired structures with multifunctionality. Taking into account MXenes’ multilayered structures and functional surfaces, unique physicochemical properties have been designed by learning from nature to produce bioinspired materials. This article comprehensively reviews biomedical applications of such 2D MXene materials as bioinspired coating films, scaffolds as biosensors, drug delivery, cancer treatments, and tissue regeneration
