    Determinants of job pursuit intention among private university students in Malaysia

    In today's competitive job market, organizations have significant challenges in attracting and maintaining skilled employees, particularly in developing countries such as Malaysia. Malaysia faces substantial workforce issues, such as brain drain and unemployment. This study examines the determinants that influence job pursuit intention among private university students in Malaysia, with focus on salary, quality of work life and corporate social responsibility. A quantitative approach was used, with data collected from 395 respondents at three private universities in Perak through a structured questionnaire. The data have been assessed by descriptive statistics, reliability tests, and multiple linear regression. The results show that all determinants, salary, quality of work life and corporate social responsibility have significant influence job pursuit intention with corporate social responsibility as the most significant determinant ((β = 0.365, p < 0.001), followed by quality of work life (β = 0.341, p < 0.001) and salary (β = 0.120, p = 0.013). The findings indicate that, while salary remains a critical criterion, students prefer organizations with strong ethical standards environmental sustainability as well as employee well-being. The study also highlights the changing preferences of generation Z, which prioritize meaningful work and work-life balance instead of competitive salary. This research has crucial implications for organizations seeking to attract and retain young talent. Employers are encouraged to boost their corporate social responsibility initiatives, promote better working environment and provide flexible work arrangements to meet the expectations of future employees.     A study on factors affecting intention to quit among primary school teachers in Malaysia.

    Education is the backbone for supporting the long-term growth of a nation and society. However, teacher shortages have become a growing worldwide concern. Primary school teachers are the most important human capital for developing the future pillars of a country as they provide students with a solid foundation of knowledge and shape their future behavior. Nevertheless, the attrition rate of Malaysian primary school teachers is growing from year to year. It is crucial to address this issue so that Malaysia can retain competent primary school teachers and thereby improve education quality. Therefore, the goal of this study is to analyze the factors that influence the intention to quit among Malaysian primary school teachers. We investigate the relationship between burnout, pay, organizational commitment and self-efficacy with intention to quit. This study utilized quantitative research method by collecting questionnaires from 400 primary school teachers in Selangor, Johor, Perak and Kedah. After that, the data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The Pearson Correlation Coefficient was adopted in this study to assess the association between the four independent variables and teachers’ intention to quit. The findings showed that there is a significant positive relationship between teacher burnout and their intention to quit. Moreover, pay, organizational commitment and self-efficacy are significantly and negatively correlated to intention to quit. As a result, the Ministry of Education, school administrators and NUTP must take proactive strategies in addressing the shortage of primary school teachers so that Malaysia can retain qualified teachers and maintain an effective education system.     The potential of copper oxide nanoparticles photocatalyst and microalgae for leachate treatment

    The Municipal Solid Waste landfill has become a big challenge to the world nowadays. The percolating wastewater that comes out from this waste material, also known as leachate, is highly toxic and contaminated. Leachate contains high suspended solids, heavy metals and others hazardous substances such as xenobiotic compounds, ammonia, volatile organic compounds, hydrogen sulfide, methane and others. The objective of this research is to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of integrated methods using green synthesized nanoparticles and phyco-remediation using microalgae to treat leachate. In this study, the pre-treated leachate samples were treated with heterogenous photocatalytic degradation, under different concentrations of 100 mg, 150 mg and 200 mg of copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs). The leachate samples were further polished using microalgae species known as Chlorella vulgaris. Microalgae were cultivated and grown in different percentages of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of photo-treated leachate samples for seven (7) days. The water analysis for before and after treatment was carried out according to standard methods. Parameters such as pH, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5), Suspended Solids (SS), Ammoniacal Nitrogen (AN) were tested. Throughout this research, the mentioned integrated leachate treatment had achieved the total removal rate of 98% of COD, 99% of BOD5, 93% of SS and 93% of AN. As a conclusion, the integrated system of nanoparticles and microalgae has shown the optimization of leachate treatment by achieving the most satisfactory reduction rate in the tested parameters

    AI and governance quality - twin pillars in the evolution of financial development

    The growing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a transformative force in financial systems is gaining recognition, particularly in developing economies. However, the combined impact of AI adoption and governance quality on financial development remains insufficiently explored. This study examines the roles of AI integration and governance standards across 58 developing countries over the period of 1996 to 2021. The analysis reveals that: (1) increased adoption of AI technologies significantly supports the development of the financial sector, and (2) strong governance, particularly political stability, reinforces financial system security and fosters long-term financial growth. These effects are especially evident in countries facing higher levels of financial exclusion and where financial institutions demonstrate greater efficiency. The variables used to measure financial development, AI penetration, and governance quality include domestic credit to the private sector, digital infrastructure indicators, and political stability, respectively, sourced from the World Bank and other global databases. Employing the two-step system Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) estimator, the study ensures robustness against endogeneity and autocorrelation, while accounting for countryspecific heterogeneity. The findings highlight key policy implications: (1) governments should focus on establishing politically stable and transparent institutions, and (2) strategic investment in AI technologies should be prioritized to enhance financial inclusion and accelerate economic development.     The hedging capability between non-green cryptocurrency and green cryptocurrencies toward the U.S. stock market: Analysis of the effect of economic policy uncertainty

    This study examines, while accounting for Economic Policy Uncertainty (EPU), the relationship between green and non-green cryptocurrencies and the US stock market. A negative correlation between the returns of green cryptocurrencies and the U.S. stock market is found in the study, which uses daily time series data from May 3, 2021, to December 31, 2024. Numerous statistical tests were performed on the data, including the GARCH model, Feasible Generalised Least Squares (FGLS), Phillips-Perron (PP) test, Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test, Jarque-Bera test, Breusch-Godfrey LM test, and ARCH LM test. The absence of a unit root has been proven by employing the ADF test and PP test. The Newey-West Heteroscedasticity and Autocorrelation Consistent (HAC) method was employed to guarantee model resilience despite the presence of heteroscedasticity, autocorrelation, and error-term’s normal distribution. According to the FGLS model, Bitcoin exhibits a positive but insignificant relationship with S&P 500 returns, whereas green cryptocurrencies have a significant negative relationship. Furthermore, whereas Bitcoin's hedging ability is unaffected by high EPU, green cryptocurrencies' hedging capacity is adversely harmed.     This study explores how traditional celebrities, and digital influencers affect Generation Z’s purchasing intention in the fashion industry. Using the Source Credibility Theory and Information Acceptance Model, it examines the impact of expertise, attractiveness, trustworthiness, engagement level, and information quality on Generation Z’s purchasing intention influenced by endorsers. A total of 392 gen Z participants were surveyed using convenience and snowball sampling through Google Form. The research aims to identify the key factors influencing Gen Z’s purchasing intention and offer insights for marketers to create more effective, targeted strategies. It contributes to existing literature by comparing influencer types and their roles in modern fashion marketing.     Smart shopping assistant using mobile application development

    In the contemporary retail landscape, mobile applications have become indispensable tools for grocery shoppers. However, many existing platforms fail to offer a truly integrated and intelligent experience, lacking advanced features for personalized health-conscious decision-making, effortless list management, and practical in-store support. This project introduces the Smart Shopping Assistant, a cross-platform mobile application designed to address these limitations by creating a seamless, secure, and highly personalized shopping journey. The application is developed using the Flutter framework for broad device compatibility and is powered by Supabase for robust and secure backend services, including user authentication, data management, and PostGISbased geospatial queries. At its core, the assistant leverages a sophisticated AI engine, orchestrated through Dify and utilizing the Gemini API, to provide users with personalized nutritional analysis based on their specific health profiles. A key innovation is the on-device integration of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) via Google's ML Kit, which empowers users to instantly scan and digitize product nutrition tables for real-time evaluation. Furthermore, the inclusion of the Google Maps Service provides comprehensive location-based features, including nearby store discovery, address selection with autocompletion, and route visualization. Developed under an Agile methodology, the project prioritizes a user-centric design that blends convenience with valuable insights. By unifying an intelligent AI assistant, real-time nutritional data analysis via OCR, a full-featured e-commerce system with order management, and practical location-based services within a single platform, the Smart Shopping Assistant aims to empower consumers to make more informed, efficient, and health-aware purchasing decisions.     Smart water intake tracking system for kids

    Dehydration in kids can pose a significant health hazard, especially when it occurs amid situations such as while they are attending kindergarten or schools and their supervisors cannot supervise them all the time. This project presents the development of Smart Water Tracking System using an ESP32-based system integrated with a load sensor (HX711) to measure realtime water intake. The data is collected and store to Firebase cloud storage when internet connectivity is available, else it will store the data locally for offline use. The purpose of this storing technique is to ensure the accurate and continuous data collection in IoT applications. A user-friendly monitoring application that involving JavaScript, HTML and CSS to allows parents and caregivers to visualize daily, weekly and monthly drinking patterns, with features such as real-time hydration tracking and refill detection. By combining offline data synchronization and cloud services, the system provides a reliable tool to encourage better hydration habits in children and lessens the risk of dehydration that may pose threats within the education sector, with a solution at low cost which enables custom form factor
