Adescriptive research design was employed, with the use of questionnaire tagged Digital Libraries and Personalized Learning Experiences of Students Questionnaire (DLPLESQ) as instrument of data collection. A total of 212 final year economics education students were selected for the study using snowball sampling technique. Descriptive statistics such as frequency distribution, percentage, mean, and standard deviation were used to provide answers to research questions. Additionally, inferential statistics in form of regression analysis was used to test the relevant hypothesis. The findings revealed that digital library tools have a significant positive impact on students\u27 personalized learning experiences of students ( = 2.002; P<0.05). The study also demonstrated that that final year Economics education students are “Not Aware” of the resources in digital libraries in public universities in Lagos State Nigeria. Out of the 13 digital library resources listed, sampled students seem to be “Aware” of only three resources which are “Google Scholar”, “Oxford Academic” and “Research4life”. Furthermore, the study showed that final year Economics education students make use of the digital library resources “Monthly”. Based on these findings, the study recommended strategies to enhance the utilization of digital libraries, such as improving access to devices and internet connectivity, providing training programs to enhance digital literacy skills, and integrating digital library resources into the economics education curriculum

Swimming performance is a diverse activity combining energy, kinetic, motor control, anthropometrics, and swimming strength. The use of dry land training for swimmers has received little to no attention in several Nigerian researches. Therefore, this study interest was to examine the effects of a 6-week dry-land resistance training on swimming endurance of swimmers in Lead City International School Ibadan. Pretest-posttest control group experimental research design using matched participants with a 2x2 factorial matrix was adopted for this study. Fifty-two swimmers were selected to take part in the study. The participants were assigned into control group (26) and experimental group (26). Experimental group were made to go through six weeks dry-land resistance training Programme, while the control group were made to undergo 20 minutes of benefits of exercise lesson for six weeks. Data was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics of Analysis of Co-variance (ANCOVA). The result revealed that there was a significant main effect of treatment on 2swimming endurance(F =102.087, p<0.05, ç =0.676) of swimmers. Also, there was no significant (1,49)2 main effect of sex on swimming endurance(F =0.718, p>0.05, ç =0.401). Furthermore, there was no (1,49)significant interaction effect of treatment by sex on swimming Endurance(F =5.524, p<0.05, (1,47)2 ç =0.023). It was concluded that resistance training on dry-land improved swimmers\u27 swimming abilities. Therefore, it was suggested that coaches be taught on the advantages of adopting dry-land training to enhance swimming performance. Also, dry-land resistance training should be used by swimming instructor so as to reduce swimming injuries

Film for Education in Sustainable Development: Using the Intellectual Montage as a useful Editing Tool

    Get PDF
An essential step in the post-production procedure for developing a narrative flow is video editing. The director of a film has a vision for the movie before it is even shot. Post-production, however, is where that vision is put together and given life. The principles and techniques used in video editing vary. In this paper, the usage of Sergei Eisenstein\u27s intellectual montage theory will be highlighted. This theory illustrates the use of separate shots to imply a different meaning. This notion is effectively illustrated by the Kuleshov effect. It was quite important for comprehending how certain shot sequences influence an audience psychologically. In light of this, the Kuleshov effect can be used to effectively convey the proper message when the intellectual montage theory serves as a solid foundation. In educating an audience about sustainable development, it should go beyond just creating an informative piece. While making a visually appealing motion picture, it is imperative to keep the viewer engaged. The audience will then be able to assimilate these hardhitting topics. Montages allow the director to maintain the flow while focusing just on the necessary elements that are to be emphasised

Every modern organization particularly in the private sector that desires sustainability must ensure effective and efficient service delivery. It is also the general belief that the private sector led economy is usually more efficient and sustainable given considerate government support in terms of enabling laws and infrastructure. The Nigerian university system currently has 111 private, 49 federal and 57 state approved universities by the National Universities Commission (NUC). Therefore, one would naturally expect the private universities in Nigeria to offer the best in terms of attaining the university goals of effective teaching and learning, multi-disciplinary insightful researches towards providing potent solutions to national woes as well as all inclusive and impactful community service delivery. However, the current reality does not reflect expected outcomes from private universities despite outnumbering the public universities in Nigeria. No university in Nigeria was among the best Ten (10) in Africa nor among the best Three Hundred (300) globally in the 2022 rating of universities across the globe. This paper used qualitative approach to identifying and finding solutions to problems bedeviling attainment of quality service delivery in private universities in Nigeria. The paper also suggested measures through which this disheartening service gap could be minimized or eliminated through enhanced institutional supports to academic workforce in this educational subsystem

The design for the study was the descriptive survey and the population comprised 3624 youth leaders in Akwa Ibom and River States, from which 1450 (40%) were sampled using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The instrument of the study was a validated 39-item Youth Leaders Perception of Community Responsiveness to Health and Social Protocols for COVID-19 Curbing Scale (CRHSPCCS), designed by the researchers in the modified four-point Likert scale, with a reliability index of 0.85, obtained using Cronbach Alpha Statistics. Mean and standard deviation were used in answering the research questions, while z – test was used in testing the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The results of the study showed that, youth leaders’ perception of the extent of community responsiveness to health and social protocols for  curbing the COVID-19 pandemic was at a low extent and that there were no significant differences between the mean ratings of youth leaders from AkwaIbom and River States on the extent of community responsiveness to health and social protocols for curbing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Akwa Ibom and River States of Nigeria, respectively. It utilized a sample size of 275 through a simple random sampling technique. 275 copies of questionnaires were administered and distributed among women lenders and staff of LAPO Microfinance Bank. By chance, 235 copies of the questionnaire were completed and returned to the researcher. Hence, the data was analyzed based on these returned copies of questionnaires. The study used descriptive statistics of mean analysis, simple percentage and regression analysis to analyze the data, as well as Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to test the hypotheses. Based on the results, it was revealed that the independent variables such as the rate of women\u27s access to microcredit, interest on savings of women\u27s microcredit and microcredit duration had negative effects on the poverty rate in Nigeria. Meanwhile, interest rate on women\u27s microcredit, microcredit participation/registration fees and microcredit initial deposit had positive effect on poverty rate among women that have access to microcredit.
