This paper presented a comprehensive analysis of the interplay between quality assurance (QA) practices and teacher productivity in the context of public secondary schools in Lagos State, Nigeria. Drawing upon an extensive literature review, this study explored the existing body of knowledge surrounding QA initiatives and their impact on the performance and effectiveness of teachers, thereby influencing the overall quality of education in Lagos State. Through a systematic review of literature, this paper identifies common themes, key challenges, and best practices related to QA implementation and its effects on teacher performance. The findings from the literature review underscore the pivotal role of QA in enhancing teacher productivity and fostering an optimal learning environment for students. It revealed that well-designed QA mechanisms, such as teacher training programs, mentoring, and ongoing professional development, significantly contribute to teachers\u27 effectiveness and job satisfaction. Conversely, the absence of robust QA systems can lead to a decline in teacher morale, instructional quality, and ultimately, student achievement.Furthermore, this paper highlights the barriers and limitations that hinder the successful implementation of QA practices in public secondary schools in Lagos State. Factors such as inadequate funding, bureaucratic challenges, and a lack of clear policy guidelines have been identified as impediments to effective QA implementation. Based on the findings from the literature review, this paper provides practical recommendations which included the establishment of a coherent QA framework, targeted investment in professional development opportunities, and the adoption of innovative teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.&nbsp

The emergence of the computer age has made Information and Communication Technology necessary components of instruction, with the hope of improving students’ level of performance in schools. However, the present situation of undergraduate students shows contradicting realities. This study investigated influence of ICT Literacy on academic performance of undergraduate students in Taraba State University, Jalingo. Two research questions and one hypothesis guided the study. Descriptive survey research design was used for the study. The population was 16,652 undergraduate students of Taraba State University Jalingo. A sample of 400 students was selected for the study using multi-stage sampling procedure. A fifteen-item instrument tagged “Information and Communication Technology Literacy Achievement Test (ICTLAT), with some items adapted from the existing instruments of John, Izang and Akorede (2017) and United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Survey Instrument for ICT literacy was used for data collection. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer the research questions while independent ttest was used to test the null hypothesis at a 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that students’ ICT Literacy was low and there was a significant mean difference between the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of ICT literate students and the CGPA of ICT non-literate students in favour of the former (t=12.665; P<0.05) implying that there was influence of ICT literacy on students’ academic performance. The study concluded that ICT literacy significantly influences the academic performance of undergraduates at Taraba State University, Jalingo. Recommendations were made that lecturers should engage students in activities which require the use of ICT facilities for instructional delivery and that the ICT Directorate of the university should be actively involved in orientation exercises of matriculating students so as to acquaint them with the facilities at their disposal and how to put them to good use while on campus.&nbsp

Also, Allowances and Fringe benefits will have no significant effect on human capital efficiency and productivity in Federal Training Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos State. And Motivation will have no significant effect on workers efficiency and productivity in Federal Training Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos State. The following conclusions will be reached based on the result of findings from the study. Salaries will have no significant effect on employees’ efficiency and productivity in Federal Training Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos State. However, Allowances and Fringe benefits will have significant effect on human capital efficiency and productivity in Federal Training Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos State. And, motivation will have significant effect on workers efficiency and productivity in Federal Training Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos State. Based on the result of findings from the study, the following recommendations will be  offered for policy implementation. Organization should make provisions for employees’ motivation. Regular review and increase of workers’ salaries should serve as motivational tool for workers. It was also necessary that government promote workers on regular basis through Appar form or written test. Also, workers should be encouraged to efficiently perform their duties as long as they have the opportunity of developing a career on their job.&nbsp

In this study, the researcher found out the relationship between readability indices and students achievement in test. Readability and comprehension test on selected passages from the English Language for Senior Secondary School Book 2 were conducted among students; content analyses of the same passages were equally carried out. The outcome of the content analysis showed that the degree of lexical density and synthetic complexity of the passages are very high while the result of the readability and comprehension test showed the correlation coefficient(r) of 0.890 which indicates a strong positive relationship between readability indices and students’ achievement in comprehension test. Base on this, it was recommended that English language textbook for public schools should be guided by a comprehensive readability test and that government should consider whether or not the recommended textbooks are appropriate for the target students before recommending them, instead of using political or social influence of the authors and the publishers.&nbsp

The correct use of the standard alphabet aids readers in understanding what the writer is trying to convey, and a language\u27s orthography enables its users to accurately express speech in writing for communication reasons. One of the fundamental challenges in ?do language literacy has been that of inconsistency in the spelling forms which create difficulty for readers especially from a pedagogic perspective. The goal of the study is to address and provide suitable literary tactics for resolving issues that arise while implementing the correct orthography for the language being studied. The study used Jacob Egharevba’ novel Itan ?dagb?nmw?n to explore orthographic disparities that have been found in written texts. The study takes lexical elements with noted spelling mistakes, groups them, and applies Pitt Corder\u27s model of error analysis to them. The study found out that there are four types of orthographic errors in the text –orthographic errors of addition, selection, ordering and omission. The analysis also reveals that each of these errors has one of two resultant effects on the words in terms of how they affect the meaning of the words in which they occur. The findings and recommendations of the present study will be useful to the publisher of the text in revising its orthography for ease of reading by students and teachers.&nbsp

Empowering Children with Disabilities through Accessible and Inclusive Education for Sustainable Development

    Get PDF
With its no poverty and quality education goals, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) remain one of the most potent tools for empowering children with disabilities. However, the extent of achieving this feat will be determined by how accessible and inclusive education is for children with disabilities. The objective of this paper revolves around empowering children with disabilities through accessible and inclusive education for sustainable development. It underscores stemming poverty and making education more accessible and inclusive for these children so that the 2030 SDG agenda can be realized for all and especially for children with disabilities. This paper posits that poverty is an adversary for educating and empowering children with disabilities. It suggests that persons with disabilities are more likely to live in poverty due to societal barriers of discrimination, limited access to education and employment and lack of inclusion in livelihood and other educational and social programmes. It conceptualizes accessible and inclusive education in the context of global best practices. The study concludes that SDG will not be fully achieved unless children with disabilities were given ample opportunities for empowerment.&nbsp
