The inability of taxpayers to file their taxes effectively and flaws in the tax system have been perceived as the main reason behind the failure of the taxpayers to submit correct and accurate tax returns the relevant tax authorities in a manner prescribed by law and in accordance with the laid down administrative procedure. Prior studies have attributed these anomalies to the inefficient use of information technology and incompetent tax officials. Therefore, this study investigated the effect of disruptive technology on tax filing process in Nigeria. The study adopted a quasi-experimental research by employing survey research design. Primary data were collected through an online survey questionnaire. The population comprised 789 management and administrative staff of both FIRS (302) and ODIRS (487) in Ondo State offices. The sample was determined through Taro Yamane sampling approach. The results showed that the model is significant at 0.05 level and the coefficients are different from zero having a Wald chi2 (4) of 13.75. AI, big data and cloud computing present positive effects while blockchain demonstratesnegative effect on tax filing process, but the results are only significant for AI, BCT and CCT. The study concluded that disruptive technology is capable of creating a new market for tax filing in Nigeria through tax automated. The study thereby recommended that for a proper tax filing process, the government should ensure that tax filing is handled by professionals and trained personnel to bring the best in them and also instill discipline in them.

Mobile cellular subscriptions are also found to have apositive and significant effect on commercial bank branch expansion and stock traded. Additionally, the deposit interest rate has positive and significant effect on credit to private sector in the money market and market capitalisation in the capital market, while it is insignificant effect on commercial bank branch expansion and stock traded in the stock exchange. The study recommends that digital infrastructure should be upgraded in African countries to meet global requirements in order to maximise financial sector’s potential benefits from worldwide digitalisation and technological transformation
Economic Environmental Factors and Productivity of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in the Manufacturing Sector of Oyo State
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a critical role in the economy, particularly in providing employment opportunities and promoting economic growth. However, a significant number of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) fail within the first few years of operation due to various factors. The study aims to investigate the influence of the economic environmental factors on the productivity of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the manufacturing sector in Oyo State. An ex-post facto research design was employed in this study. The CBN Statistical bulletin provided quarterly secondary data for the study, spanning from 2001 to 2023. The research hypotheses were tested in the study using econometric techniques. Specifically, SPSS version 27.0 was used to conduct a multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that economic environment, measured by exchange rate, inflation rate, money supply growth rate interest rate have significant impact on SMEs productivity in Oyo State with R-Square (0.709) which indicates that 71% variations in SMEs productivity in Oyo State can be explained by the considered economic environmental factors. Also, the F-statistic (2.179) at P-value (0.02) indicates that the general model was statistically significant. This means the independent variables (exchange rate, inflation rate, money supply growth rate and interest rate) are the good predictors of level of SMEs’ productivity in Oyo State. This study concluded that SMEs productivity in Oyo State is significantly influenced by economic environmental factors. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the Central Bank of Nigeria should keep the currency rate at an investment-friendly level. Also, policies that would improve business conditions and the business climate, thus encouraging SMEs to obtain funding from the capital market should be developed by the federal government and its agencies

Deradicalization and Social Integration of Defected Boko Haram Militants In Nigeria: A Review of The Yellow Ribbon Initiative
In a bid to curb the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents in Nigeria, the government, in 2015, set up amnesty programs for low-risk Boko Haram defectors. Since then, thousands of Boko Haram members have defected. However, effective social integration of these defected members remains a challenge in the North-East region of Nigeria. The deradicalization and social integration program is in three main program streams – the prison program; the Operation Safe Corridor (OSC) and the Yellow Ribbon Initiative (YRI). The prison program is targeted at convicted Boko Haram members, while the OSC is targeted at low-risk Boko Haram members. The YRI, which is the focus of this presentation, is targeted at women and childrenassociated with Boko Haram. It has been asserted that the YRI has reintegrated thousands of women and children, but the veracity of this claim remains a challenge due to the lack of transparency and accountability of the program. This presentation investigates the level of involvement of the children claimed to have been reintegrated into the society under the YRI. The presentation further investigates the reception of these children into the society, as well as the extent to which their rights are protected. Using a socio-legal method, the legal and institutional frameworks of the YRI were examined. The effectiveness of the YRI was measured by interviewing relevant government, NGOs, INGOs and other stakeholders involved in the YRI program. The presentation will make recommendations based on the findings of this research.
Government Expenditure and Private Consumption in Nigeria: : Further Empirical Evidence
The study investigates the effect of government expenditure on private consumption in Nigeria from the period of 1980 and 2018. Using Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL), the result of short-run parameters shows that government expenditure, foreign direct consumption and population have positive and significant relation with private consumption while import has negative and significant relation with private consumption. Concerning the long run parameters, total investment and export have a significant positive relation with private consumption while import exerts a negative significant effect on private consumption. Thus, there is a need for efficient and effective policy that will encourage foreign investment to increase government revenue. This supports the Wagner’s Law that growth of national income raises the size of the public sector
