ASSESSMENT OF CURRENCY OF CURRICULAR OF AGRO-BASED TRADES FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING OF 21ST CENTURY SKILLS IN NIGERIAN TECHNICAL COLLEGES
Technical Colleges are educational institutions established at the post-basic education level with
the aims of training and producing craftsmen for industries and educational advancement.
Enrolments into Technical Colleges are trade-based. Teaching, learning and assessment leading
to the award of National Technical Certificate (NTC) in Agro-based trades, including
Agricultural Equipment and Implements Mechanic Work (AEIMW), Animal Husbandry (AH),
and Fisheries Craft Practice (FCP) are carried out using curriculum of each trade. There are,
however, increasing concerns among educators, employment agencies and economic planners
over employability of graduates of Technical Colleges in Nigeria. Reports on 21
st century
economy indicate that the world of work is changing, requiring trainees of Technical Colleges to
be equipped with 21st century skills which may not have been contained in the current curricula
of the trades. This study therefore investigated the currency of curricula of some Agro-based
trades for the purpose of facilitating teaching and learning of 21st century skills in the Colleges.
Six research questions were answered. The study adopted quantitative research design. The
population comprised all Heads of Department and employers of graduates of the trades across
the country’s six geo-political zones. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 98 Heads
of Department and 92 Employers in each of the trades. Four questionnaires on AEIMW, AH and
FCP and Employers Perception on Employees’ Skills (QEPES) with Cronbach Alpha reliability
coefficients of 0.85, 0.82 0.89, and 0.80 respectively were used. Frequencies, percentages, means
and standard deviation were used for data analysis. Results showed that there is a gap between
the contents of the curricula of the trades and the skills needs of the industries. It concluded that
the curricula of the Agro-based trades are skewed against the teaching, learning and assessment
of the 21stcentury skills in Nigerian technical colleges. It was therefore, recommended that
government, curricula developers and other relevant stakeholders should ensure that the
curricula are reviewed to meet the skills needs of the 21st century industries
IMPLEMENTATION OF SCIENCE CURRICULUM FOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN NKANU EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF ENUGU STATE
This paper reviews the implementation of Science Curriculum for secondary schools in Nkanu East local government area of Enugu State. Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. Descriptive survey research design was adopted. There was no sampling because the population was manageable. The entire population of four hundred and forty science teachers in Government owned secondary schools in Nkanu East local government area of Enugu State was used; Science Curriculum Implementation Process Questionnaire was used for data collection. The reliability coefficient for the entire instrument was 0.78. The data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation for answering the research questions while t-test was employed to test the hypotheses. The findings include that the methods adopted by the science teachers are demonstration, experimental and discussion methods and significant difference exists in the mean rating of male and female teachers that utilize the available instructional materials for teaching and learning science only to a less extent, teachers use the recommended evaluation techniques in assessing their students to a moderate extent, students’ poor background from basic science, under-funding of education, lack of laboratory facilities and inadequate number of trained science teachers were the problems militating against the implementation of the national curriculum to a moderate extent. It was recommended among others that the science content should be monitored periodically to access the extent to which the objectives are being achieved

was found to be 0.84 using Spearman-Brown formula. Collected data were analysed using mean, standard deviation and
independent samples t-test for the research questions and null hypotheses respectively. The results revealed that all the
STEM Teachers do not equally utilize MS Excel in computation of average scores of basic concepts in their specific
areas. Mathematics Teachers however utilized the package more. The researchers recommended that workshops on the
use of MS Excel be organized based on the finding
EEFECT OF COMPUTER ASSISTED INSTRUCTION ON BASIC CONCEPTS IN BIOLOGY ON SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS ACHIEVEMENT IN ENUGU EDUCATION ZONE
This study investigated the effect of computer-Assisted instruction on basic concepts in Biology on secondary
school students’ achievement in Enugu Education Zone Quasi-experimental research design, specifically the pretest, post
test, Non-equivalent control group design was employed. A sample of 365 SS1 Biology students (165 males and 200 females)
in four schools drawn from a population of 20455 using simple random sampling to get 4 intact classes. Biology
Achievement Test (BAT) developed by the researchers was used for data collection. The BAT was face validated and
reliability co-efficient of 0.83 was obtained using Kuder-Richardson’s 2D(KR-20). Three null hypotheses guided the study.
Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance (P<0.05). The result showed
that biology students taught with CAI achieved higher than those taught the same concepts using lecture method. There is
no significant difference on the influence of gender on the academic achievement of Biology students taught with CAI and
lecture methods Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that Biology teachers should be exposed to
workshops, seminars and conferences on the integration of CAI in teaching and learning of Biology in secondary schools
EFFECT OF FORENSIC ANALYSIS ON TAX FRAUDS ON OIL COMPANIES IN NIGERIA
The primary objective of this study is: to evaluate the effect of forensic analysis on the level of tax fraud prevention
of oil companies in Nigeria. In doing this, the study focused on oil companies that are listed in the NSE as the year
ended 2021. This study purposively selected ten (10) oil companies operational in Nigeria for a period of ten years,
that is, 2012-2021. A multi-regression analysis of panel data was used as the analysis tool which reveals that
forensic audit and litigation has no significant effect on tax frauds prevention in oil companies in Nigeria. However,
the study clearly concludes that forensic analysis can positively influence tax fraud prevention eventhough it is not
significant at this point in time. Based on this therefore this study recommends that they should be a better
regulatory oversight by the government relevant agencies in order to ensure continued safeguard of government’
interest
Effect of Strategic Labour Unionism on Workers Welfare in Enugu State Public Service
This study is titled “Effect of Strategic Labour Unionism on Workers Welfare in Enugu State
Public Service. The researcher sought to ascertain the extent to which labour unionism has guaranteed
job security for workers in Enugu State; determine the extent to which workers unions have assisted to
ensure timely promotion of workers in Enugu State; investigate the contributions of workers unions on
regular provision of training programmes for workers in Enugu State; and ascertain the extent to which
effective labour unionism has assured timely payment of pension and gratuities to retirees in Enugu
State. Plurarism theory propounded by Flanders and Fox (1970) was used as the theoretical framework
of the study. Secondary sources of data collection were utilized. Materials generated were analyzed
contextually. The outcome of the study showed that effective unionism is lacking in Enugu State from
2015 till date consequent upon the harsh political environment under which unions operate in the state.
Hence, Welfare of workers such as job security, timely promotion with commensurate financial benefits,
regular training programmes and pension and gratuities benefits are hardly provided as and when due.
All these have resulted to poverty, hunger, lack of interests to assigned responsibilities, etc among
workers across government establishments in Enugu State. The researcher recommended among other
things that labour unions in Enugu State should persuade government institutions in the state to ensure
adequate provision of workers welfare in order to improve the socio-economic wellbeing of the workers
toward higher performance in the organizations; unions should seek redress in industrial court with
regards to any infringement on the rights of any worker in the state as this has yielded result in the
past

STRATEGIES FOR SUSTAINABILITY IN PANDEMIC DISRUPTION IN NIGERIA: A THEORETICAL REFLECTION
The business growth and strategies for
sustainability in pandemic disruption aimed at
finding solutions to solve the problem of the
spread of the virus which has penetrated from
the underlying interconnectedness and frailties
of globalization, catapulting a global health
crisis into a global economic shock that has hit
the most vulnerable the hardest, emerging from
the natural environment and paralyzing our
societies and our economies. The study seeks to
establish how COVID-19 is spurring on a
number of trends already visible prior to the
pandemic, magnifying some obstacles, but also
opening up new opportunities of business
innovation and development. The COVID-19
pandemic has gravely wounded the world
economy with serious consequences impacting
all communities and individuals; moving
rapidly across borders, along the principal
arteries of the global economy. This research
focused on investigating business innovation
and development for sustainability in a global
pandemic era and derailing global efforts to
achieve them. The paper concluded that
sustainable development works to guarantee the
rights of future generations without
compromising or harming the rights and needs
of present generations, hence it is necessary to
help large companies and institutions (e.g
pharmaceutical companies working with
governments) to enhance the health system
response. It was recommended among others
that, the world including Nigeria must seize the
opportunity of the COVID‐19 pandemic crisis to reinforce its commitment to implementing the
2030 Agenda and the 17 sustainable
development aims by making progress on the
global roadmap for a more inclusive and
sustainable futur

empirically examines the perceived effects of child trafficking on children in Ebonyi state of Nigeria. The objectives are to ascertain the
different forms of child trafficking in Abakaliki urban of Ebonyi state; identify causes; determine the effect on the behaviour of the children,
and suggest plausible ways of curbing the crime. The study employed an empirical survey. The population of the study which is 120,173
(NPC,2018) was extracted from Abakaliki Urban area and the sample size of the study which is 400 was computed using Taro Yamane
statistic. Questionnaires and interviews were used as instruments for the gathering of data. Frequency tables/percentages were used to
analyze the data as presented in this paper and to test the hypotheses of the study, the Chi-Square (X2) statistic was employed. The research
reveals that child trafficking exists in Abakaliki urban of Ebonyi state. The research reveals further that the major causes of child trafficking
in Abakaliki urban area of Ebonyi State are the quest for more income and greed. The research reveals further that child trafficking
significantly affects the emotional state of children in Ebonyi state. With the proper measures put in places such as the creation of more job
opportunities, persecution of offenders and proper monitoring of suspected cases of child trafficking, the case of child trafficking in the
Abakaliki Urban Area can be curbed
Fipronil use and associated effects on hematological and biochemical parameters of blue land crab (Cardisoma guanhumi Latreille): Ecological implication
Fipronil is used to control pests to improve farm yield, however, indiscriminate use
of fipronil has been reported to endanger crabs leading to their extinction. Therefore, this study investigated the impact of fipronil on several hematological and
biochemical parameters of blue land crabs. We exposed blue land crabs to either
fipronil or to a control treatment; fipronil reduced the protein content of the crab
and also led to hematological and oxidative damages to the crabs' oxy‐hemocyanin.
Based on our results, there is need for guided use of agrochemicals such as fipronil
to avoid/reduce their adverse effects on economically important species such as
crabs
