POLITICAL ECONOMY OF CHINA-NIGERIA TEXTILE MARKET AND THE STATUS OF NIGERIAN TEXTILE INDUSTRIES
International trade and economic relations has remained vital to the economy of states in their relations
across borders. Sino-Nigeria trade relations are aimed centrally at the development of the economy of the both countries
among other things. This work investigated the statues of the Nigerian textile industries in the trade relations of China and
Nigeria at the global south. China-Nigeria diplomatic relations since February 10th 1971, have advanced political and
economic cooperation in their bilateral ties. Among other sectors, the Nigerian textile market has been highly affected by the
presence of the Asian economic giant. The paper made a thorough examination of the effects of China on the development
ofNigerian textile industries. Methodologically, the paper employed commercial liberalism theory as a fitting analytical
lens. Documentary method of data collection adopted, enhanced our access to resources from secondary materials such
as, journals and internet resources, while content analysis was employed. Findings of the paper among other things,
showed China’s domination of the Nigerian textile market; hence, the moribund state of Nigeria textile industries. The
paper recommended inter alia revitalization of the Nigerian textile subsector; while the government should ensure due
payment of salary and other entitlement to Nigerian textile workers
ADEQUACY AND UTILISATION OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING OF 21ST CENTURY SKILLS IN SELECTED TRADES IN TECHNICAL COLLEGES IN NIGERIA.
Instructional materials are mostly physical items instructor uses to facilitate students’ learning
and achievement of instructional objectives. They are essential tools needed to aid teaching and
learning of a given subject. They are useful in concretizing learning experiences. Therefore, in
Technical Colleges in Nigeria, where the curricula involve teaching, learning and assessment of
technical and vocational skills, adequate provision and utilization of instructional materials is
an absolute necessity. Plumbing and Pipefitting (PP), Bricklaying, Blocklaying and Concreting
(BBC) and Carpentry and Joinery (CJ) involve skills that require concrete learning compared to
General Education subjects. However, there are concerns that instructional materials used for
teaching and learning of the trades may not be adequate in terms of the extent of availability and
utilization towards promotion and assessment of 21st century skills. This study investigated the \ud
availability and utilisation of instructional materials for the teaching and learning of 21st century
skills in the selected trades. Three research questions were answered. The study adopted a mixed
research design (qualitative and quantitative). The population comprised all heads of
departments, teachers and students in each of the trades in all the Technical Colleges in Nigeria.
Purposive sampling technique was used to select 23 Heads of department, 36 teachers and 266
students of PP, 21 Heads of department, 42 teachers and 404 students of BBC and 20 Heads of
department, 32 teachers and 341 students of C&J across the country’s six geopolitical zones.
Three instruments were used: Questionnaire on Adequacy and Utilisation of Instructional
Materials for PP, BBC and C&J with Cronbach-Alpha reliability coefficients of 0.87, 0.80 and
0.82 respectively. Data were analysed using frequencies, percentage, means and standard
deviation. Findings revealed that instructional materials were not adequate and not effectively
utilised for teaching and learning of the 3 trades in compliance with the 21st century skills
requirements. It is therefore recommended that since assessment is an integral part of teaching
and learning, schools and all relevant stakeholders should provide adequate instructional
materials and ensure effective utilization of the materials for the development of 21st century
skills on students of the selected trades
Familien mit Migrationshintergrund und die Herausforderungen des Corona bedingten Homeschoolings Eine Typologie unterschiedlicher Bewältigungs strategien zwischen innovativem Krisenmanagement und Dysfunktionalitä
Since spring , the COVID- pandemic has not only had an effect on health and economic sys
tems worldwide, but continues to place a significant impact on the education sector.
e pandemic
repeatedly led to school closures and subsequent homeschooling procedures. Long periods of dis
tance learning further intensified existing dynamics of social educational disadvantages, especially
for families with a migratory background. is article examines the subjectively perceived challen
ges faced by these families. Available resources, such as the parents’ educational background or the
socio-economic situation of families, are being analyzed in order to identify how of this had effects
on the coping mechanisms of families during the school lockdown
An application of artificial intelligence for investigating the effect of COVID-19 lockdown on three-dimensional temperature variation in equatorial Africa
We present interesting application of artificial intelligence for investigating effect of the COVID-19 lockdown on 3-dimensional temperature variation across Nigeria (2 –15 E, 4 –14 N), in equatorial Africa. Artificial neural networks were trained to learn time-series temperature variation patterns using radio occultation measurements of atmospheric temperature from the Constellation Observing System for Meteorology, Ionosphere, and Climate (COSMIC). Data used for training, validation and testing of the neural networks covered period prior to the lockdown. There was also an investigation into the viability of solar activity indicator (represented by the sunspot number) as an input for the process. The results indicated that including the sunspot number as an input for the training did not improve the network prediction accuracy. The trained network was then used to predict values for the lockdown period. Since the network was trained using pre-lockdown dataset, predictions from the network are regarded as expected temperatures, should there have been no lockdown. By comparing with the actual COSMIC measurements during the lockdown period, effects of the lockdown on atmospheric temperatures were deduced. In overall, the mean altitudinal temperatures rose by about 1.1 C above expected values during the lockdown. An altitudinal breakdown, at 1 km resolution, reveals that the values were typically below 0.5 C at most of the altitudes, but exceeded 1 C at 28 and 29 km altitudes. The temperatures were also observed to drop below expected values at altitudes of 0–2 km, and 17–20 km
Therapeutic Evaluation of the Antioxidant Capacity of Flavonoid-Rich Seed Extract of Buchholzia coriacea Engler (Capparaceae) †
Inflammation is a complex process frequently associated with pain and fever, involving increased vascular permeability, increased protein denaturation, and alteration of the membrane. The clinical symptoms such as fever, aches, and pains associated with several diseases are directly or indirectly due to inflammatory disorders. Most biological proteins lose their biological activities or functions when denatured. An evergreen shrub which is distributed in African countries including Nigeria, among others, belonging to the family of Capparidaceae has been used in traditional medicine as a valuable alternative therapy in the treatment of Malaria, asthma and cough, diarrhoea, rheumatism, ulcers, worm infection, diabetes, hypertension, psychiatric disorders, and impotence. This work studies the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant performance of a flavonoid-rich extract of Buchholzia coriacea Engler (Capparaceae) seed. The in vitro anti-inflammatory studies for the extract were done using protease inhibition activity, membrane stabilization, and albumin denaturation inhibition assays, and antioxidant activities were performed by determination of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), nitric oxide (NO), and 2-2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging activity assays as well as total antioxidant capacity. The ethanol flavonoid-rich extract of B. coriacea seed was effective in inhibiting the denaturation of albumin in a concentration-dependent manner. The inhibitory ability of the extract on protease increased significantly (p < 0.05) with increased concentration. The flavonoid-rich extract of the seeds of B. coriacea like indomethacin significantly (p < 0.05) protected the human erythrocyte membrane against lyses induced by hypotonic solution when compared to the control. The plant extract at different concentrations inhibited significantly (p < 0.05) oxidative stress caused by HsO2, DPPH, NO radicals when compared to the control. The flavonoid-rich extract was found to possess radical scavenging and anti-inflammatory activities as determined by albumin denaturation, protease inhibition, membrane stabilization, hydrogen peroxides (H2O2) 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), Nitric oxide (NO) radical scavenging activities, and total antioxidant capacity data. Further research on isolating, purifying, and characterizing the particular class of flavonoids responsible for the aforementioned activities may be undertaken, and they may be incorporated into existing anti-inflammatory herbal compositions to improve their efficacy

Richardson formula 20 (K-R20) to obtain reliability coefficient 0.87. The hypothesis
was tested using t-test statistics at 0.5 level of significance and appropriate degree of
freedom. Data collected from the respondents were analyzed with mean score. Several
findings were made in the course of the study, most of the respondents strongly believed
that motivational incentives influence teachers’ positive attitude to implementation of
curriculum. Based on the findings, the researcher made some salient recommendations,
prominent among them are: Regular payment of teachers’ salary, Provision of
allowance to teachers, Teachers’ in-course training, Teachers’ Promotion and
Provision of teachers’ allowances, Building of teachers’ quarters etc . It was concluded
that welfare of teachers should be the fundamental responsibility of both local and state
government
Information and Communication Technology and Quality of Products of Food Manufacturing Firms: Case of South-South Nigeria
There is a growing appreciation of the consequence of Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) in the day-to-day activities of man. Theoretical
and empirical postulations view ICT as both a means and an end for
development. This paper therefore sets out in investigating the effects of
Information and Communication Technology on the quality of products of food
manufacturing firms with South-South region of Nigeria as case study.
Questionnaire was designed using Likert’s scale of five-point to elicit information
from 3750 respondents. The dependent variable is the quality of product of the
food manufacturing firms which were measured by perception of respondents.
The independent variables are tools of ICT (Computers, Internet, Television and
Radio, Video and Audio devices, Social-media). The result with R2 of 0.823
revealed a significant coefficient of determination as such the independent
variables explained about 82 percent of the variation in the dependent variable. F-calculated (100.175) is greater that the F-tabulated (2.8786) which means that the
overall estimate has a good fit and also implies that the independent variables are
simultaneously significant. The study concludes that there exists significant positive relationship between ICT and quality of product of the food
manufacturing firms. Hence, maintenance of quality also means setting standards
via ICT which will serve as guideline in the assurance of protection and safety of
consumers in addition to improving future processing
EFFECT OF E-PAYMENT SYSTEMS ON GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT OF NIGERIA
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of e-payment systems on gross
domestic product of Nigeria. Specifically, the study was set to determine the effect of Automated
Teller Machine (ATM) payment system, Point of Sale (POS) payment system and mobile applications
payment system on gross domestic product in Nigeria. The study adopted ex –post facto research
design. The population comprised of all the quoted telecommunication companies listed on Nigeria
Stock Market as at 2020 while the sample size comprised of MTN Nigeria, eTranzact, Chams Plc,
Courteville Business Solutions Plc and Omatek Plc. Judgmental sampling technique was used in
selection of the sample. Auto Regressive Distributed Lag Model (ARDL) was used as the analytical
technique. The study revealed that ATM payment system, Point of Sales (POS) payment system and
mobile applications payment system have significant effect on economic growth in Nigeria. The study
recommended that banks should constantly upgrade hardware and software whenever a new feature
of enhancing security becomes available
INFLUENCE OF CASH MANAGEMENT ON FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF SELECTED MANUFACTURING COMPANIES IN NIGERIA
This study investigated the influence of cash management on financial performance of selected manufacturing
companies in Nigeria. The population of the study included fifty five (55) manufacturing firms quoted on the Nigerian
Stock Exchange (NSE) with a sample size of twenty-six (26) manufacturing companies purposively selected from the
consumer and industrial goods sub-sectors. Ex-post facto research design was employed in the study. The secondary data
was obtained from Annual reports of sampled companies as provided by individual companies and Nigerian Stock
Exchange (NSE) website. The panel least square regression analysis was employed in validating the hypotheses. The study
revealed a significant negative effect of cash management on returns on assets and Tobin’s Q. Returns on equity was
negative and non-significant. Consequent on the findings, the study therefore recommends amongst others that
management should set proper exit strategies for a high conservative cash management policy measure after considering
banks’ lending attitudes and capital market conditions
