State Creation and its Impacts on Igbo Unity and Identity
Without doubt, structural imbalance is one of the major absurdities of Nigerian federalism. This has
resulted to the calls for state creation to address this abnormality. Consequently, from 1967, the structure
of the federation has been reconstituted five times, with its attendant effects. The paper seeks to appraise
the impact of state creation on Igbo unity and identity. The research method employed was the
qualitative analytical method which involved content analysis of relevant documentary data on the
subject. The approach adopted was also thematic. It argued that statism has set in motion disintegrative
forces through the creation of indigene-non-indigene, as well as core-Igbo and non-core-Igbo
phenomenon, which is antithetical to a sense of common nationhood, and abnegated the Igbo spirit of
brotherhood. This has adversely affected Igbo unity and identity
Smart Green Schools Initiative: A Panacea to Secondary School Curriculum Implementation in a Depressed Economy
Education for ages has remained the strong key that unlocks the gate that liberates man from disease,
Ignorance, and underdevelopment. Nigeria alongside other developed and underdeveloped nations of the world
seem to share this sentiment by adopting education as an instrument per excellence in influencing social and
economic development in the country. The different economic variables such as the rising cost of living and rapid
decline of the country’s monetary value have caused ripple effects on the activities of parents, teachers, and the
school management in the shared implementation of the school curriculum. Data for the study was collected using
secondary sources and was analysed using content analysis. The findings show the need to revitalize education
through the adoption of the novel Smart Green Initiative in the implementation of the secondary school curriculum
in Enugu State, its challenges, prospects, and the way forward

LEADERSHIP, CHANGING SOCIETY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: THE NIGERIAN EXAMPLE
In African traditional societies man was his
brother’s keeper of family members carry along
one another in their daily social and economic
activities. Life was communal in nature which
was group affair and informal being guided by
internalized cultural elements. Culture is the way
of life of a people. Colonialism introduced
capitalism
which
destroyed
the
African
communal life system where everybody was his
brother’s keeper rather capitalism introduced
individualism. The cultural elements which
promoted peace were undermined in the name of
civilization which have manifested in insecurity,
corruption, selfishness ethnicity and disrespect
for human life etc by Nigerians today. The coming
of the Europeans and the amalgamation of 1914
by Lord Lugard brought different kingdoms,
empires and states together under the name
Nigeria. Instead of Nigerians utilizing their
pluralistic nature by tapping the values of the
various groups for social and economic
development it has become a devastating force.

Nigeria society. The study revealed that Nigeria
could not attain sustainable development because
of gender inequality, corruption, non-separation
of power, lack of African shard values etc. The
blatant abuse and manipulation of the
constitution, the erosion of the principles of the
separation of power, lack of open political
system, corruption, religious intolerance and
abuse of minority right. Based on the findings, the

AN APPRAISAL OF CIVIC EDUCATION AND NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA
National development: is about all aspects of
the life of an individual and the nation. It is a
process of reconstruction and development in
varies
dimensions of a nation and
development of individuals. There is need for
national integration. a process by which
members and groups in a Nigeria adapt to the
demands of national existence. Civic
education refers to both formal and informal
learning given to the citizens to develop in
them the knowledge, values, and skills
needed for effective participation in political
process and the civic society. Civic is the
study of the rights and duties of citizenship.
When you are a citizen, you are considered
part of the nation and have an active role in
determining what that nation does. Nigeria
has not achieved the level of understanding
and
acceptance of the rights and
responsibilities among the totality of its
citizens that is required for the maintenance
and improvement of our constitutional
democracy. Inattention to civic education
stems in part from the false assumption that
the knowledge and skills citizens need
emerge as by-products of the study of other
disciplines or as an outcome of the process of
schooling itself. The general objective is to
examine whether citizens are actively
involved in their own governance
Prospects and Perceived Challenges of Information Communication Technology Curricula Implementation in Smart Green Schools in Enugu Educational Zone, Enugu, Nigeria
This descriptive survey research was conducted in the Enugu Educational Zone, Enugu State, to
explore the perceived prospects and challenges associated with implementing the Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) curriculum in the Smart Green School Initiative. The study employed a multistage sampling method. Initially, five primary and five junior secondary schools were randomly selected from
each of the Enugu North, Enugu East, and Isi Uzo Local Government Areas (LGAs), resulting in a total of 15
primary and 15 junior secondary schools. In the second stage, stratified sampling was used to select Primary Six
and Junior Secondary Three (JSS3) classes from these schools. Finally, three pupils, three students, and three
teachers were randomly chosen from each selected class, leading to a total of 180 respondents across the three
LGAs. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, particularly percentages. Key challenges identified include
the high cost of ICT facilities, inadequate infrastructure, and insufficient electricity supply. However, the
prospects are promising, with benefits such as the effective use of artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching and
learning, enhanced classroom activities, increased collaborative work, improved motivation for both learners and
teachers and the promotion of critical and creative thinking. The study concludes that while there are significant
challenges, the potential benefits of ICT curriculum implementation in the proposed Smart Green School Initiative
are substantial. Recommendations include strengthening ICT programs, installing supportive power supplies like
solar panels, and training staff and students to ensure effective ICT curriculum implementatio
