Fun Friday: Refreshing the Mood and Bringing Coworkers Together Using a Virtual Platform
The COVID-19 pandemic forced the movement of in-person staff interactions into the world of endless online virtual meetings. The social disconnection of these virtual meetings created a boring and impersonal reality. Fun Friday created a personal connection between hospital educators while helping them decompress from pandemic stress.

Minding the Gap: Improving Co-Occurring Disorders Recovery Through Integrated Care
This DNP project implemented a quality improvement PDSA-cycle to explore the evidence base for integrated treatment and assess use within current MAT practice at a local community health center. We conducted a needs assessment and chart review of current patients, plus conducted surveys with patients and providers.

Behavioral Emergency Response Team: Decrease On-the-Job Injuries by Promoting Safety: A Pilot Study
An acute care unit introduced a multidisciplinary Behavioral Emergency Response Team. Behavioral Emergency Response Team prevents workplace violence by de-escalating behavioral emergencies, thus, decreasing on the job injuries. Behavioral Emergency Response Team intervenes with patients who are verbally or physically threaten harm to self, others, or property.

Assessment of Bullying Among San Diego Inpatient Nurses
This presentation displays to two medical centers\u27 data sets that are part of a multisite mixed methods regional study. The study explored prevalence of bullying and intention to leave among Southern California nurses via SurveyMonkey®. Data were collected during the pandemic. Results, implications, and recommendation for nursing will be provided.

Examining the Relationship Between Incivility and Sense of Belonging to the Nursing Profession
Incivility experienced in clinical by staff nurses can impact undergraduate nursing students need to belong, or fit, within the nursing environment. While staff nurse incivility impacts nursing students\u27 overall sense of belonging in the profession, it does not impact the acceptance of students in their peer group.

Nursing Perspectives to Promote Healthy Work Environments: Implications for Nurse Leaders
As part of a quality improvement project, in February 2021, 476 nurses from one hospital system responded to two open-ended questions about their experience of being a nurse and elicited suggestions for change. Qualitative content analysis results guided nurse leaders on changes that promoted a healthier work environment.

A Quality Improvement Initiative to Reduce Inpatient Falls by Changing Patient Perceptions of Their Risks
Patients commonly fail to take fall prevention precautions while hospitalized, instead downplaying or not recognizing their risk. This project created and implemented a clinical pathway to change patients’ perceptions of their risk for falls. Outcomes included more accurate patient perceptions of risk and a corresponding reduction in falls rates.

Development of Comforturn: A Smart Mattress System for Automated Patient Repositioning using the 4D Development Model (A Concept Paper)
Pressure ulcers, also known as pressure sores, are a common and preventable complication among mobile patients, resulting from sustained pressure on specific body areas. Manual repositioning is the primary strategy for prevention, but it is physically stressful, time-intensive, and not uniformly performed by care providers. Ripple mattresses provide passive pressure redistribution; however, manual tuning is still necessary and requires an automated approach. This concept paper discusses the design of Comforturn, a smart mattress system capable of automating patient turning with a programmable side tilt and wave-like motion. The goal is to lessen caregivers\u27 work burden and increase patient safety and comfort through combined engineering and clinical approaches. This study is based on the 4D Development Model: Define, Design, Develop, and Deliver. During the Define phase, stakeholder analysis mapped the primary requirements of the nurses and patients. During the design phase, functional specifications and system architecture were developed. A working prototype was established in the Develop stage using Arduino control, and the Comforturn was tested and compared with a ripple mattress in the final Deliver stage. Preliminary findings indicate that Comforturn may significantly reduce the physical burden on caregivers, optimize the ergonomic benefits of turning, and deliver consistent, unbiased turning cycles. Patients could be repositioned more smoothly and comfortably, and caregivers benefited from less manual handling. In conclusion, Comforturn demonstrates the potential of interdisciplinary innovation in preventing pressure ulcers and improving patient care. Integrating technology, engineering, and clinical practice, this system presents a viable solution applicable in hospitals, nursing homes, and home care environments to enhance patient safety and caregiver wellbeing
