Student characteristics contributing to the awarding gap in the adult critical care short modules programmes at Kingston University
The analysis aimed to explore the influence of ethnicity, country of nursing certificate, gender, age, and country of origin on students' academic performance. The analysis aimed to identify patterns, within demographic categories between the exam and essay assessment modes of the critical care post-graduate programm
Learning experiences of pharmacists during the COVID-19 pandemic
A questionnaire N=202) reviewing learning experiences of pharmacists in London during the COVID-19 pandemic. E-Learning is currently the most used tool for learning, possibly due to accessibility. The preference for practical, interactive and hands on learning would be driven by the activist learning style. Blended learning provision needs to be taken into consideration in future planning, to increase participation in training events
An investigation of engineering students’ views on Blended Learning and any variations in opinions between demographic groups.
The prolonged period of Covid-19 pandemic may have disproportionate effects on the under-represented groups of students, potentially widening disparities in learning opportunities, progression, and attainment. This study aimed to investigate the types of blended learning preferred by engineering students during the pandemic. This project explores if there are any differences in students' opinions on blended learning delivery between demographic groups. A total of 144 UG engineering students completed the online survey using the Likert scale data and quantitative comments. The data have been split into demographic groups: BAME, white, commuter and part-time working students for statistical analysis. Findings reveal the disparity between BAME and white commuting students, with 58% of BAME students who answered having to commute over 60 minutes to their lecture, whereas 20% of white students travelled a similar amount of time. Data shows students would positively be affected with blending learning being continued
Pharmacy students' perceptions of COVID-19
MPharm students were surveyed using a questionnaire (n=84) about their perceptions of COVID-19 and perceptions of risk relating to on-campus learnin
An investigation of SEC PG students' views on Blended Learning and any variations in opinions between demographic groups.
In this project, we would like to capture the opinions of the MSc Engineering students across the SEC. A Likert scale questionnaire will be used to gather students’ views on different types of blended teaching and learning delivery. Respondents will be asked to identify their ethnicity and course but the survey will be anonymous
Drivers and barriers to acquiring second-hand toys for children, a study using the Theory of Planned Behaviour in the UK
Preliminary Theory of Planned Behaviour questionnaire:
- It's aim is to explore how likely parents are to acquire second-hand toys for their children in the next 12 months.
- To identify the parents behavioural outcomes, normative referents and control factors to be used in the making of the standard questionnaire
Standard Theory of Planned Behaviour questionnaire:
- It's aim is to identify how likely parents are to acquire second-hand toys for their children in the next 12 months.
- To understand what are the factors that influence parents' consumption behaviour of children-related products
Pathways to graphic design practice: delivering / implementing / facilitating inclusive careers guidance to enable a diverse industry
The research project investigated BA Graphic Design students’ contemporary needs and concerns regarding guidance and preparation for a career in the creative industries. It explored L4–L6 students’ perceived barriers to entering the industry, gaps in professional knowledge and experience, and related individual lived experiences. The study’s resulting quantitative and qualitative data is enabling the course team to design a more inclusive professional practice curriculum that reflects their students’ diverse needs. Curriculum developments will focus on addressing 5 key areas of required support, that emerged from the findings – perception of the industry; exposure to professional experiences; tailored and practical advice; confidence building; developing networks. By collaborating with students, this research study is feeding the development, production, and implementation of a transparent, accessible and connected three-year student journey plan into practice, that intends to breakdown hegemonies within the creative industries and narrow associated employment outcomes gaps
Law of one price data for the paper entitled “the autoregressive distributed lag bounds test generalised to consider a long-run levels relationship when all levels variables are I(0)”
his Excel file contains the natural logarithms of the Bulgaria-Denmark and Denmark-euro exchange rates as well as the logarithms of the relative prices for selected products for Bulgaria-Denmark (pharmaceutical products) and Denmark-Euro Area (household textiles; recreational and sporting services). The maximum sample period of this data is January 1999 to July 2023. This data was used in producing empirical results in the paper entitled “The autoregressive distributed lag bounds test generalised to consider a long-run levels relationship when all levels variables are I(0)” by Chris Stewart. These empirical results illustrate the application of the generalisation of the autoregressive distributed lag bounds test for a long run levels relationship proposed in this paper
Complete genome sequencing of Campylobacter jejuni strain X
Campylobacter jejuni is the most important bacterial pathogen causing gastro-intestinal infections in humans. Genome sequencing of this particular isolate revealed traits associated with virulence and antibiotic resistance, and is important for the development of intervention methods for fighting such infections. This entry provides access to metadata on the Whole Genome Sequence (WGS) and Sequence Reads Archive (SRA) of strain X
Whole genomes sequences of environmental bacteria isolated from Atacama desert in Chile
This entry contains links to metadata related to whole genome sequences of bacteria isolated from Atacama desert (Chile). Due to highly arid and hot conditions these bacteria are producing compounds of biotechnological significance.
