The Church of the Former Monastery at Curtea de Argeș: A Place of Art, Legend, and National Memory
Get PDFThis article analyses the church of Curtea de Argeș, a unique architectural monument in former Wallachia, which is a symbol of historical heritage in the entire state of Romania. It is partly an art historical analysis, and partly an intellectual history of the studies, preservation and promotion of the monument in the period of nation-state formation in the late nineteenth century. The monument was at the centre of significant historical events, legends, beliefs; together with its unique architecture, they were recounted and used for the promotion of national art and culture. Indeed, modern state-builders have paid careful attention to the historical complexity of the monument, including its legends, in defining the idea of Romanian art. Therefore, the article argues more broadly that national symbols are successful if they are based on both historical facts and legends from the past. Furthermore, the modern transformation of the monument into a national symbol was not solely a Romanian affair. Its discovery and promotion happened through a complex transnational exchange between various architects and scholars based in Romania, France and the Habsburg Empire. Therefore, the article provides further proofs for the transnational nature of the national heritage formation in Eastern Europe and beyond

Get PDFOur study examines the professional career, ecclesiastical and public engagement, and scholarly activity of Gabriella Victor (1891-1971) through the self-image she constructed in her autobiography, submitted in 1950 alongside her academic treatise thesis at the Sárospatak Theological Academy. In analyzing this autobiography, we paid particular attention to her personal ambitions, the roles she assumed, and the deliberate narrative self-fashioning of her life course. Victor’s academic and public commitments, together with her private life, reflect both her personal dedication and the social constraints of her time. Her oeuvre demonstrates a balanced coexistence of transcendental vocation and individual ambition. The selection and emphasis of events and figures reflect conscious identity-construction decisions, which can be interpreted within their social and cultural context and form part of her self-representation.A tanulmány a Sárospataki Teológiai Akadémiára magántanári értekezése mellé 1950-ben benyújtott önéletrajza alapján Victor Gabriella (1891-1971) szakmai életútjáról, egyházi és közéleti szerepvállalásairól, valamint tudományos tevékenységéről kialakított énképét vizsgálja. Az életrajz elemzése során különös figyelmet fordítottunk az egyéni ambíciók, a felvett és vállalt szerepek bemutatására, továbbá kerestük az életút tudatos narratív formálására irányuló törekvéseket. Victor tudományos és közéleti szerepvállalásában, valamint magánéletében egyszerre tükröződik személyes elhivatottsága és a korszak társadalmi korlátainak állandó tapasztalata. Életműve a transzcendens elhivatottság és az egyéni ambíciók kiegyensúlyozott együttélésének bizonyítéka. Kutatásunk eredményeként látható, hogy az önéletrajzban megjelenő események és személyek kiemelése tudatos identitáskonstrukciós döntések eredménye, amelyek a társadalmi és kulturális kontextusban értelmezhetők és az önreprezentáció részét képezik

Get PDFIn this paper we present collaborative linguistic ethnographic research. In collaborative research, participants work together to identify a research objective and develop a framework for working together. We explore how participants in such research view their roles as researchers: how they feel about themselves as researchers, what knowledge they believe they have, and how this relates to the fact that the research also draws on Southern epistemologies. Both non-academic and professional researchers put a lot of effort into reflecting on their own linguistic practices and repertoires, their position as researchers and their knowledge. During the joint work, there is a strong emphasis on the value of multilingualism. The analysis shows that the output of participatory research is dialogue itself rather than generating a kind of separation between ‘local knowledge’ and ‘academic knowledge’, and that the collaboration of citizen and professional researchers in participatory research leads to transformative processes.Ebben a tanulmányban egy kollaboratív nyelvészeti etnográfiai kutatást mutatunk be. A kollaboratív kutatásban a résztvevők közösen határozzák meg a kutatási célt és dolgozzák ki az együttműködés kereteit. Megvizsgáljuk, hogy az ilyen kutatások résztvevői hogyan tekintenek kutatói szerepükre: hogyan érzik magukat kutatóként, milyen ismeretekkel rendelkeznek, és ez hogyan kapcsolódik ahhoz a tényhez, hogy a kutatás a déli episztemológiákra is támaszkodik. Mind a nem akadémiai, mind a hivatásos kutatók nagy erőfeszítéseket tesznek saját nyelvi gyakorlataik és repertoárjuk, kutatói pozíciójuk és ismereteik reflektálására. A közös munka során nagy hangsúlyt fektetnek a többnyelvűség értékére. Az elemzés azt mutatja, hogy a részvételi kutatás eredménye nem a „helyi tudás” és az „akadémiai tudás” közötti különbségtétel, hanem maga a párbeszéd, és hogy a polgárok és a hivatásos kutatók együttműködése a részvételi kutatásban átalakulási folyamatokhoz vezet
Egy latin grammatikatöredék és magyar nyelvű bejegyzései a kolozsmonostori konvent levéltárában
Get PDFIn the Benedictine monastery of Kolozsmonostor (today Cluj-Mănăștur), a public authentication office operated from the first half of the 14th century to the middle of the 16th century. The authentication office issued legal documents and copied their texts into protocols. Two bifolia, which are to be presented in the study, were used as covers for protocols containing the copies of charters issued between 1447 and 1450 (HU-MNL-OL-DL 36391). These folios come from Alexander de Villa Dei’s textbook entitled Doctrinale puerorum. The protocols recorded on the spot may have been covered by leaves of locally used codices, so the grammar fragment can provide a glimpse into the educational situation in Kolozsmonostor/Kolozsvár (today Cluj-Napoca). The significance of the fragment is enhanced by the glosses in Hungarian that it contains, which do not only support the Hungarian provenance of the former codex copied in the 14th century but also enrich the range of old language records of Hungarian. The native entries can be seen in interlinear positions of four lines in the preserved section of the grammar book that lists certain Latin verbs as examples. These glosses contain synonyms and nouns in the accusative in Latin as well. One of the users of the book – perhaps in order to make the verbs easier to memorize, or perhaps with the aim of expanding their vocabulary – glossed a few lines (although not carefully enough in some respects). In this study, we investigate written bilingualism and define the place of the entry in the system of language records. Then we present the Hungarian verbs of the glosses one by one, and we list the above-mentioned Latin glosses as well. Since the language record investigated originates from the 16th century or a few decades before that, we also try to draw conclusions from comparisons with the earliest Hungarian dictionaries.A kolozsmonostori bencés kolostorban a 14. századtól kezdve a 16. század második feléig folytattak hiteleshelyi tevékenységet. Ennek keretében kiállított oklevekel szövegét lemásolták és megőrizték. A tanulmányban bemutatni kívánt, az 1447 és a 1450 között kelt iratok másolatának borítójaként felhasznált két levélpár Alexander de Villa Dei Doctrinale puerorum című tankönyvéből származik. A helyben lejegyzett protokollumokat helyi használatú kódexek leveleivel boríthatták be, tehát a grammatika-töredék a Kolozsvár környéki oktatásba nyújthat bepillantást. A töredék jelentőségét pedig magyar nyelvű bejegyzései emelik, amelyek nemcsak alátámasztják az egykori kódex magyar provenienciáját, hanem a magyar nyelvemlékek sorát is gazdagítják. Az anyanyelvű bejegyzések interlineáris helyzetben láthatók a tankönyv megőrződött részletének egyik olyan helyén, amely bizonyos latin igéket példaként sorol fel. Az egykori kötet egyik használója – talán az igék könnyebb memorizálhatósága érdekében, vagy esetleg a szókincsbővítés céljával – kiszótározott néhány sort (ha nem is minden szempontból túl gondosan eljárva). Tanulmányunkban kitérünk a korabeli írásos kétnyelvűségre, és a bejegyzéstípust elhelyezzük a nyelvemlékek rendszerében. Ezután egyesével bemutatjuk a beírt magyar igéket, és sort kerítünk a társaságukba bejegyzett latin szavakra is. Mivel a nyelvemlék a 16. század során vagy azt néhány évtizeddel megelőzőleg keletkezett, a legkorábbi magyar nyelvű szótárakkal való összevetésekből is megpróbálunk következtetéseket levonni
Mother Earth-Centric Actions within the International Biodiversity Protection Regime
Get PDFThe loss of biodiversity is one of the three components of our age’s triple planetary crisis, besides climate change and pollution. The valorisation of nature can open new pathways to address pressing challenges and may be considered a foundation of ecocentric approaches. The paper examines the international biodiversity regime, in which recognition of nature’s intrinsic value is limited initially to a few preambular acknowledgements. However, the 2022 adoption of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework may change the tendency to disregard nature’s own worth, as it introduces the concept of Mother Earth-centred actions within its resource mobilisation and financial goals. The paper analyses the occurrence of this concept and its impact on policy areas due to COP16 in 2024. Finally, it proposes the areas in which this concept can further strengthen the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework
匈牙利线上中文教学现状调查与分析
Get PDFThis study investigates the current state of online Chinese language teaching in Hungary in the post-pandemic era through questionnaires and interviews. Findings show a "dual-track" model dominated by standardized courses and one-on-one tutoring, mainly serving adult learners. While teachers acknowledge the effectiveness of online teaching, they face challenges such as limited resources, weak interactivity, and a heavy preparation workload. The paper recommends developing localized materials, enhancing interactive tools, and improving teacher training. Online Chinese teaching serves as a digital bridge for Sino-Hungarian exchange and offers a model for Central and Eastern Europe.本文聚焦后疫情时代匈牙利线上中文教学的发展现状，结合问卷调查与半结构化访谈，从教学实践、问题和需求等方面展开实证研究。研究发现：当前匈牙利线上中文教学呈现“双轨制”特征，即以多人综合课和一对一私教课为主导，小班制和中长时段授课成为主流，主要服务成人学习者。教师普遍认可线上教学成效，但面临资源匮乏、互动不足及备课负担重等问题。为提升线上教学质量，本文建议加强本土化教学资源开发、优化互动工具设计、完善教师培训体系，并推动教学理念更新。线上中文教学作为中匈语言文化交流的数字化桥梁，需通过资源-技术-师资协同发展，助力孔子学院市场化转型，并为中东欧地区线上中文教学提供范式参考
