Exploring the Prerequisites for Transforming School as a Learning Organization

    No full text
The organization model has shifted from treating the workforce as machines to improving human centricworking environments. The Learning Organization is conceptualized as an organism that evolves through continuous learning to adapt with a constantly changing environment. School is a typical organization and many scholars argued to reconceptualize school as a learning organization. The Integrated Model of School as a Learning Organization (Kools & Stoll, 2016)) has been widely studied and tested in European schools, particularly in Wales. However, there is a gap in the research needed to understand the prerequisites of SLO transformation and thus to better prepare for reform. To explore the prerequisites of SLO, a researcher applies a qualitative approach to purposely collect secondary data from the eight empirical studies in Wales, Greece, Latvia, Spain, Bulgaria, Türkiye, and Italy. To conduct data analysis, a data coding strategy is employed to create the prerequisites and assign them to the main themes- System Level and School Level. To achieve the SLO transformation, the researcher then recommends a systematic reform that involves the education stakeholders, both at system level and at school level - to put forward the practice of the SLO seven actionoriented dimensions. Further meta-analysis research is recommended to widen the scope of conceptualizing antecedents of SLO transformation.

The first Holocaust reenactments happened right after the liberation of the camps when, as a mode of testimony and authentication of their experience, survivors themselves “reenacted” for their liberators what happened to them. When artistic reenactments entered the Holocaust discourse, it was in a different historical situation. By the 2000s, when artistic reenactment was at its peak, (1) the way to use the tools of contemporary art in connection with the Holocaust had already been paved, so that contemporary artistic strategies could be used efficiently to evoke memory and memorialization. (2) There were new disciplinary currents within history, with post-structuralism having raised complex questions in connection with the Holocaust. History’s affective turn focused on historical actors whose experiences had earlier remained unknown, invisible or had not been considered significant. (3) Important and urgent questions about the representation of the Holocaust had been widely debated in conferences, books, and were still ongoing. Reenactment can be an efficient way to evoke the Holocaust, its unknown, erased, destroyed evidence, especially after the age of direct witness and testimony had lapsed. The paper discusses a few artistic attempts to approach the mediation of the Holocaust, and the specific difficulties these reenactments face, as well as the reason why artistic-historical imagination cannot always find favourable reception. The first Holocaust reenactments happened right after the liberation of the camps when, as a mode of testimony and authentication of their experience, survivors themselves “reenacted” for their liberators what happened to them.

The paper asks how the literary legacy of Mihály Csokonai Vitéz (1773–1805) has been handed down: why did Csokonai’s legacy remain so intact that it is still accessible to modern research (a significant part of the material is currently housed in the Hungarian Academy of Sciences), and how did Csokonai become such a timeless marker of Debrecen’s urban space and local identity in the 19th century and later? The answer lies in the fact that there were people in Csokonai’s immediate Debrecen environment (his family and circle of acquaintances) who, immediately after his death, considered it important to preserve his intellectual legacy. The role played by Csokonai’s mother in this process should be highlighted. Later, after his mother’s death, there was a person (László Gaál) who not only preserved his own memories, but also passed on Csokonai’s legacy and his own memories to the persons and institutions of the slowly centralising scientific community in Pest, who were able to shape the outlook and canon. In other words, the survival of Csokonai’s legacy and its emphatic inclusion in the literary historical canon was the result of the cooperation of local and central factors. This did not mean, however, that Csokonai was discovered by the city of Debrecen itself: the discrepancy between the preservation of manuscripts and the preservation of the Csokonai-related material world is striking. While the former reaches the most important places of the institutionalised literary memory almost as fast as lightning, the musealisation of objects does not follow, and the Csokonai Circle (Csokonai Kör), which was founded in Debrecen only much later, in 1890, vainly tried to collect such relics, but could hardly find anything that could be authentically connected to Csokonai. Due to advancing technology; nowadays mobile robot applications in hospitals have been increased. For that reason, it is very important and necessary to analyze the trajectory of such helping robotic system. However; there are many types of mobile robots have been utilized in hospital applications such as helping nurses. In this simulation study; a designed and controlled mobile robot was controlled by using standard feedback controllers. On the other hand, the robot was also tested with disturbances of ground surface roughness. The simulation results were improved that standard PID controller has superior performance to overcome surface roughness of the robot trajectory.Due to advancing technology; nowadays mobile robot applications in hospitals have been increased. Introduction: The health and illness behavior of women and men is an important area of study in the sociology of health. Digital health solutions have an impact on these phenomena as well. Methods: Our research is based on 2 representative population-based questionnaire surveys, which were done in 2021 (n= 1500) and 2024 (n=1100) respectively. In our study we used descriptive methods to analyze online health-related information seeking behavior, digital health-related options and tools. Results: The results show that although women continue to make a higher use of some digital health solutions such as e-prescription and telemedicine, the gap between men and women has decreased in other areas such as transferring health data, while men took the lead in smart device use. Population data for 2024 indicate that the gap between men and women in the use of health information resources has also narrowed significantly. Summary: Our 2021 research shows a clear female dominance in both online health information searching and using digital solutions. By 2024, these differences have narrowed significantly, and digital health solutions have become part of everyday life. This is indicated by the almost 80% awareness and use of e-prescription, online appointment booking and EESZT.Bevezetés: A nők és férfiak egészségmagatartásának és betegviselkedésének kérdései az egészségszociológia fontos vizsgálati területe. A digitális egészségügyi megoldások feltételezhetően ezekre a jelenségekre is hatással bírnak.

Imaginary and Real Bridges as Connecting Elements in Communal Relations?

    Get PDF
The meaning of bridges is often mentioned in town twinning and other international contacts. In general, this word has positive connotations, as bridges enable interaction and communication and ideally create close relationships. Bridges are usually referred to in a metaphorical sense, but in sometimes they are real structures, such as those dedicated to a specific partner or between two partner communities from different countries. While the significance of the former is symbolic, the latter also fulfill a function in the real sense. In a figurative sense, common elements of everyday life can also form a bridge and bring people together, such as customs, origins, sources of economic income, geographical location and historical experiences. Real bridges can not only connect people and cities, but also act as monuments that remind us of a relationship again and again. By describing selected examples of imaginary and real bridges, the article also addresses the following questions: Is the bridge metaphor mostly just an empty phrase? How are imaginary and real bridges perceived by the public? Are imaginary bridges (e.g. relevant activities, everyday cultural similarities) and physical bridges really connecting elements in European diversity? To what extent are they helpful in understanding the foreign? The article draws primarily on the author's many years of research into town twinning but also on a number of other bilateral relationships in the Central European context. Observations, surveys, media analyses and other research tools serve as sources

“Prego, signorina”.

    No full text
This article aspires to open a new prospective of study on the figure of the schoolmistress in the first half of the Italian twentieth century. The essay focuses on three lesser-known narrative works (two by women writers), with a look at two movies of the 1940s and 1950s. The study offers a thematic analysis on the character of the schoolmistress, who is not always adequately recognized and analysed. In the first part, a group of three short stories is analysed: Maria Messina’s L’ora che passa (1911) revolves around an emptied and disillusioned teacher, Rosalia, who has not found the means to emancipate herself in her profession; Ada Negri’s Anima bianca (1917) instead presents a teacher, Rosanna, fully realized in her role to the point of letting herself die when an event undermines her ability to teach; finally, Federigo Tozzi’s Un’osteria (1920) opens a contemporary debate on the suffering of those teachers, like Assunta, forced to work far from home. In the second part of the essay the discussion shifts to cinema: Vittorio De Sica’s Maddalena... zero in condotta (1940) is the parable of the teacher Elisa Malgari, who has to learn the most important lesson: letting herself be loved by a man.

In 2024 we celebrate the 80th birthday of Professor Zoltán Hajnády. The articles in this issue of Slavica have been written by his colleagues to express their respect for him and his work. In addition to the international significance of Zoltán Hajnády’s research on Tolstoy, which is the main focus of his articles, the laudation introducing the series of articles also mentions a broader aspect of his work on Russian–European relations and reveals his deep personality. A representative of humanistic values, a great educator and scientist, he works for the mediation and mutual enrichment of Russian–Russian and Hungarian cultures. For this endeavour,  Hajnády was honoured with the Pushkin Medal in 2006.

The aim of the paper is to provide an interdisciplinary analysis of cultural testimonies of the unique wound left by the camps in Ukrainian–Russian relations. Gulag literature, explored for decades in philology, is perceived mainly through the prism of the heritage of totalitarian systems and creative attitudes in the face of suffering, as extreme physical and mental experience. The aim of the paper is to analyze the works of Ukrainian artists of recent decades created as a result of imprisonment. Their literary and film creations make up the image of a wound inflicted in the name of achieving imperial goals while imprisoned in a camp. The juxtaposition of their diverse artistic reactions to the suffering of testimonies help to highlight the power with which the unsettled, forgotten, silenced, and now and unexpectedly updated wound of the camp past is reflected in today's attitudes of Ukrainians towards Russians.
