The life and work of Endre Tóth (1899–1970), a reformed theological professor and church historian, first in Pápa and later in Debrecen, is a unique Hungarian 20th-century intellectual destiny. While his quiet character made him averse to official duties, the troubled historical circumstances forced him to hold serious church offices for decades. He held various posts at the Reformed Theological Academy of Pápa and the Transdanubian Reformed Church District from the mid-1920s for two decades, then became professor at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Debrecen between 1947 and 1950. He was then professor at the Reformed Theological Academy, after the Theological Faculty seceded from the State University and  operated under the Reformed College, and dean for a decade from 1948. It is also thanks to his wisdom and humility that the pastoral education in Debrecen, while maintaining its former academic quality, has survived perhaps the most difficult decade in its history without serious losses. Under the direction of Endre Tóth, in 1950 the separation from the state university, the move to the college, the admission of theology students from Sárospatak after the nationalization of schools, and the processing of the upheavals of the 1956 events took place, while the Transtibiscan District changed bishops twice (when he arrived in Debrecen, Imre Révész, his predecessor at the department, was still the bishop; after 1948, János Péter, and from 1957 Tibor Bartha was the bishop). In addition to his work as head of an institution, he also performed educational and scientific activities as a church historian.Tóth Endre (1899–1970) előbb pápai, majd debreceni református teológiai tanár egyháztörténész élete és munkássága sajátos magyar 20. századi értelmiségi sors.

Halle’s appeal in the 18th century was due not only to its university, but also to the institutions of the Francke Foundations. The so-called “orphanage” was originally intended to take care of children, but it was successively expanded into schools at different levels. Two inventions made Halle attractive: the free canteen and the fact that orphanage schools employed university students as teachers and provided training for them. The orphanage thus had access to a large and cheap teaching staff, and the informants gained experience as well as being able to finance their university studies. It was therefore a place where talent and diligence could flourish. These social and pedagogical measures contributed greatly to the rise of the University of Halle. When the institutional system was fully developed and the written evaluation of informants became systematic, informative files were also produced on people who later played a decisive role in the history of schooling in Hungary and Transylvania.  Halle vonzerejét a 18. században nemcsak egyetemének, hanem a Franckesche Stiftungen intézményeinek is köszönhette.

Advancing Maintenance 4.0 through an Asset Management Framework: a South African Petrochemical Industry Case Study

    Get PDF
The rapid advancement of digital technologies has raised uncertainty about the adequacy of traditional maintenance models to meet Industry 4.0 requirements. This study develops and validates an asset management framework to support the South African petrochemical industry’s transition to Maintenance 4.0. The framework was validated through a quantitative survey conducted within a leading petrochemical company in South Africa, ensuring its practical applicability. Descriptive statistical analysis confirmed 15 of 17 framework characteristics and supported five of seven theoretical propositions. Key enablers of Maintenance 4.0 adoption include the integration of human intelligence, machine learning, and real-time data, as well as the role of organizational culture and asset resilience in shaping outcomes. The study offers both theoretical contributions and practical guidance for maintenance professionals seeking to align maintenance practices with Industry 4.0 principles, with relevance extending beyond the immediate case context

Thermoelastic Analysis of Functionally Graded Spherical Bodies Using Deep Neural Networks

    Get PDF
This paper deals with the numerical analysis of functionally graded spherical bodies subjected to combined thermal and mechanical loads. A method is presented to train deep neural networks to approximate the important solutions. We outline two approaches for generating the training dataset for a deep neural network, followed by a method for creating the neural network itself. Then, through a numerical example, we investigate the axisymmetric problems of radially graded spherical bodies (e.g., ideal spherical pressure vessels). Based on the results obtained, we evaluate the accuracy of solving the outlined problem using the proposed neural network. This paper deals with the numerical analysis of functionally graded spherical bodies subjected to combined thermal and mechanical loads. CURRENT ISSUES IN THE TRAINING SYSTEM OF THE MASTER OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME IN THE LIGHT OF THE FEEDBACK OF THE PROGRAMME LEADERS

    Get PDF
Over the past decades, business schools' Masters in Entrepreneurship Development have become one of the most important venues for training future entrepreneurs worldwide. The concept of entrepreneurship and the role of the entrepreneur has been in a constant state of flux over the years, with a significant impact on the structure, methodology and objectives of training courses. Universities need to focus not only on providing traditional business skills but also on developing competences adapted to an increasingly changing economic and social environment. In this article, after reviewing the most important foreign and domestic literature on the topic, we examine the current situation of Master's programmes in business development in Hungary through qualitative research. We focus on the social and economic changes that have influenced the development of entrepreneurship education in recent years and on the trends that may shape the content and form of education in the coming period. The research will use in-depth interviews with programme leaders to find out what expectations different stakeholders - labour market actors, university leaders, students and external stakeholders - have of the Master's in Business Development. We will explore the entrepreneurial competences and effective educator roles that are seen as key today, as well as the main challenges that programme leaders of training courses are currently facing. Based on this, this paper aims to identify potential opportunities and directions for improvement in the teaching of Masters in Business Development, which can contribute to preparing students more effectively for the challenges of a dynamically changing economic environment

OPTIMISING PUBLIC HEALTH OPEX: A CONCEPTUAL SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF HEALTH SECTOR AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT IN KENYA

    Get PDF
The African Health ecosystem is yet to optimize multi-stakeholder collaborative efforts for desired outcomes in health-care interventions. Despite heavily relying on multiple sectors and developing progressive engagement frameworks, challenges in harnessing diverse stakeholder contributions to meet evolving health-care priorities persist within the sector. This situation exacerbates the challenge of health disparities, especially regarding regional and rural development. We seek to focus on Reversing the Hierarchical Overview of Public Health Stakeholders in Kenya by redesigning it to fit - a community and related stakeholders-centred Approach. We used the Conceptual Systematic Review to conceptualize the complexity of stakeholders’ ecosystem coordination. We use peer-reviewed literature and reports covering the stakeholders in public health.  We coded the literature findings following the CSR stages. The study develops a proposed ecosystem map of stakeholders that incorporates suggested changes for improved local stakeholders’ coordination and local ownership of health investment activities in Kenya. The structuring and layering of the stakeholders will be informed by the tenets of the stakeholder salience model, thus advancing theoretical discourse in the area

From Slavery to Fair Work in Hospitality: How New Technologies Affect?

    Get PDF
This critical review examines the role of advanced technologies in reshaping slavery-like working conditions in the hospitality industry. While automation and intelligent systems can improve efficiency and ease workloads, they also raise concerns about worker displacement, wage disparities, and job insecurity. The discussion revolves around whether technological advancements can improve working conditions or deepen existing inequalities by favouring highly skilled workers while marginalising others. The existing literature does not provide a unified framework that guarantees ethical employment practices by combining technology with labour force policies. The study introduces the Tech-Driven Fair and Decent Work Agenda (TDFDWA) as an approach towards implementing the Fair and Decent Work Agenda (FDWA), sustainable development goals (SDG 8) and International Labour Organization (ILO), aiming to integrate advanced technologies in implementing ethical labour governance. This agenda harnesses advanced technologies for promoting economic growth and ethical employment to ensure labour force stability in the age of the digitalised hospitality industry

Regionális gazdasági szerkezetváltás és munkaerőpiaci adaptáció – a debreceni ipari beruházások hatásainak elemzése

This study examines the labour market impacts of the large-scale industrial investments in Debrecen between 2015-2025, with particular focus on the economic transformation generated by BMW, CATL and other multinational corporations. The research aims to explore how the emergence of new high-tech industries transforms the structure of the regional labour market, what competency realignments it produces, and what managerial challenges it poses. The methodological approach combines literature analysis, secondary data collection and expert consultations, focusing on investments in the Southern and Northwestern Economic Zones. The research identified a "dual shock effect" in Debrecen's labor market: the creation of more than 20,000 new jobs generates a quantitative shock, while the industrial structural transformation and the competency expectations of international companies representing high-tech industries result in a qualitative shock. Competition for labour has led to significant wage increases and forces the application of new recruitment and retention strategies, while intercultural leadership and organizational development have also become critical challenges during the implementation of greenfield investments in Debrecen. Debrecen's economic transformation represents an exemplary process for regional development, however, it poses significant adaptation challenges for both employees and companies.
