Camilla and the Dresses
No full textThis article aims to create a context around a single line of the Aeneid. The narrator's statement narrating Camilla's death (femineo predae et spoliorum ardebat amore 11,782) is traditionally understood as prejudiced against women and does not quite fit with the earlier portrayal of Camilla's figure. The paper will argue that, on the one hand, the interpretation of the line is not as clear-cut as it may seem at first sight, and on the other hand, that the motivation attributed to Camilla by this statement contains an element that is quite unique in the Aeneid, and is characterised by ambivalence of values rather than by a clear rejection of her morality. The analysis tries to interpret the whole sentence through the nature of the spoils (praeda) mentioned in the sentence. By comparing Camilla's appearance and the clothing of her opponents in battle, it seeks to formulate connections between the different characters in the story

Effect of nitrogen on growth and yield of chili (Capsicum annuum var. ‘Marshal’) in Chitwan, Nepal
Get PDFA field experiment was conducted from April to July 2024 in Rampur, Chitwan, to evaluate the performance of different levels of nitrogen on the growth and yield attributes of chili. The Marshal variety of chili was tested under five different nitrogen doses (0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 kg/ha). The treatments were arranged in a one-factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four replications. Observations were for different growth and yield parameters, and data were analyzed using R-studio. The results revealed that all growth and yield characters of chili were significantly influenced by nitrogen levels. The plants treated with 120 kg/ha nitrogen produced the maximum height (45.6 cm), canopy (604.5 cm2), primary branch (8.67), leaf number (9.78), fruit length (6.26 cm), and fruit weight per plot (111.04 g). The 90 kg/ha nitrogen ranked second, with plant height of 43.12 cm, canopy cover 570.70 cm2, primary branch 7.30, leaf number 9.23, fruit length 5.87 cm, and fruit weight per plot 103.63 g. All parameters were significantly reduced in the control, where no nitrogen was applied. The highest yield was obtained in T5 (3.07 t/ha) followed by T4 (2.98 t/ha), T3 (2.67 t/ha), and T2 (2.32 t/ha). The findings of this study demonstrated that 120 kg/ha nitrogen level resulted in the highest values for all measured traits and was significantly greater than that of all other nitrogen levels. Therefore, it is concluded that nitrogen dose of 120 kg/ha is the most economical for achieving better growth and fruit yield in chili (variety ‘Marshal’)

Playing Purposefully with Students in Courses – a Concept, an Implementation, and an Evaluation of a University Module
Get PDFPlaying as a method of learning is predominantly applied in preschool and primary education. However, in the context of higher education, the method of playing is only sporadically used. The novelty of this topic lies in its application at the tertiary level, particularly in teacher education, where the aim is for students to plan and support learning processes for pupils from deep structures. This study investigates how playful learning methodologies can be effectively integrated into higher education and examines the impact on student attitudes and teaching practices. The module 'Playful Learning in Primary Education' was evaluated during the autumn semester of 2023 at the Institute for Primary Education of the PH FHNW in Switzerland. Initially, the topic of play is defined from multiple theoretical perspectives. The module description outlines the research questions addressed in the study. A central component of the evaluation is the students' certificates of achievement, which were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The results highlight the attitudes toward playful methodology that students had at the beginning of the module and the attitudes and experiences they acquired by the end of the module. The evaluation results are presented in summative fashion in tables and interpreted in the discussion. The article aims to motivate university teachers to offer playful learning methods in higher education and to experience the positive impacts of this methodology with the students. The results clearly show that this methodology can lead to changes in teaching practice
