Коренным образом изменились порядок, содержание и требования к выпускникам академических лицеев нового типа. В целях повышения качества образования в академических лицеях, широкого применения в учебном процессе передовых педагогических методов, информационно-коммуникационных технологий и мультимедийных презентаций, а также создания для этого необходимых условий состав учебных групп составляет не более 26 учащихся. Было разрешено проводить практические, лабораторные и семинарские занятия по предметам углубленного изучения в малых группах.
