Ze Lwowa do Bytomia. Od Śląskiego Teatru Muzycznego do Państwowej Opery Śląskiej (1945–1950)

The Silesian State Opera in Bytom was and still remains a true cultural phenomenon not only in Upper Silesia, but also in Europe. The Bytom stage, as Tadeusz Bursztynowicz aptly put it, managed to transform from a makeshift event into a permanent opera facility in a short time, moving from the Silesian Musical Theater through the Katowice Opera, the Silesian Opera to the Silesian State Opera based in Bytom (in the years 1945–1949/1950). This was certainly due to many factors that came together at the right time and place, as well as the people who gave the institution its rhythm and face from the very beginning. Adam Didur, Wiktoria Calma, Olga Szamborowska, Jadwiga Lachetówna, Lesław Finze and Andrzej Hiolski are just some of the names who guaranteed the success of the emerging opera scene. In the first period of the history of the facility, the Silesian tradition and Lviv heritage were important. The common denominator, the platform for cooperation, became culture and art, the need and desire to create a musical theater with a rich repertoire, which, having faced many administrative and technical difficulties, achieved the desired status of a state institution. Often, only the unconventional approach of the management and the team, both in artistic and administrative matters, helped to physically survive and arouse interest in the opera during the difficult post-war years, also taking into account complicated geopolitical issues.

Józef Koffler (born 1896 in Stryj, died ca. 1944 near Krosno) is primarily known as a Polish composer active in Lwów (from 1991 Lviv) in 1924–1941. In interwar Poland he was also well-known as an editor of his own music magazines – “Orkiestra” (1930–1938) and “Echo” (1936–1937). In addition, among the music magazines he published in: “Muzyk Wojskowy”, “Muzyka” and “Kwartalnik Muzyczny”. He also published texts (mainly reviews) in several Polish newspapers. The purpose of the article is to show what issues Koffler‘s texts can be divided into. We can identify the following categories: ‘Early music‘ (up to the end of the 18th century), selected composers from 18th to 20th century: Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Wagner, Brahms, Mahler, Reger, Debussy, Stravinsky, Schönberg, Szymanowski, Koffler (Koffler about his own work). The second category is: “Progress and Development in Music”, “Contemporary Music Culture”, “Music Criticism”, “Music Education”, “Psychology of Music”, “Sociology of Music”, “Audience”, “Radio”, “Ethnomusicology”, “Musicology as a Scientific Discipline”.Józef Koffler (ur. 1896 w Stryju, zm. około 1944 koło Krosna) znany jest przede wszystkim jako polski kompozytor działający we Lwowie w latach 1924–1941. Udało się wyłonić następujące kategorie: „Muzyka dawna” (do końca XVIII wieku), twórczość wybranych kompozytorów: Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Wagner, Brahms, Mahler, Reger, Debussy, Strawiński, Schönberg, Szymanowski, Koffler o swojej twórczości, a ponadto: „Postęp i rozwój”, „Współczesna kultura muzyczna”, „Krytyka muzyczna”, „Szkolnictwo muzyczne”, „Psychologia muzyki”, „Socjologia muzyki”, „Publiczność”, „Radio”, „Etnomuzykologia”

The Princes Lubomirski Museum, founded 200 years ago in Lviv, marked its anniversary in Wrocław with the conference “Polish Museology in the Interwar Period”, an open-air panel exhibition in the Baroque garden of the National Ossoliński Institute, and a jubilee exhibition held in the Ossolineum building from 9 March to 30 June 2024, titled Un/Obvious History: 200 Years of the Princes Lubomirski Museum. The Museum was established under an agreement signed in December 1823 by two great patrons of the arts: Count Józef Maksymilian Ossoliński, founder of the National Ossoliński Institute, and Prince Henryk Lubomirski, who owned one of the most valuable art collections of European calibre. Both were guided by the lofty vision of transforming a private foundation with its artistic holdings into a public library and museum – an institution of Polish culture and learning offered to the nation during the period of national subjugation. The Museum – founded “out of love for the country and for art” – did not have an easy history. The realities of the partitions, followed by a period of decline and the eventual liquidation of the Lviv institution and dispersal of its collections during the Second World War, did not bode well for its survival. After the fall of the communist regime, the independent status of the Ossolineum was restored, and within its structure the Museum was reactivated in Wrocław, where – after Lviv’s separation from Poland – the National Ossoliński Institute had been re-established in 1946.Muzeum Książąt Lubomirskich, założone przed 200 laty we Lwowie, świętowało swój jubileusz we Wrocławiu konferencją „Polskie muzealnictwo w okresie międzywojennym”, plenerową wystawą planszową w ogrodzie barokowym Zakładu Narodowego oraz zorganizowaną od 9 marca do 30 czerwca 2024 roku w gmachu Ossolineum wystawą jubileuszową Historia nie/oczywista. Obu przyświecała wzniosła idea uczynienia z prywatnej fundacji publicznej książnicy wraz z artystycznymi zbiorami – jako instytucji polskiej kultury i nauki ofiarowanej narodowi w okresie niewoli narodowej.

Fake News in Social Media – Classification and Case Studies as an Important Guide for Media Education

    Get PDF
The essence of this publication is an attempt to characterize the term of fake news in the social media environment. Social media platforms are commercial entities that are difficult to control and focused on user-generated content. Therefore, they constitute an effective space for spreading dis-information, both intentional and unintentional. The definitions of fake news, their types and exam-ples were analyzed, and a case study was conducted in relation to two important events – both geo-politically and media-wise – the war in Ukraine and the presidential elections in the USA. The last chapter is a proposal of activities that will help you differentiate truth from false information and develop your own media competencies

The article focuses on the opinions of primary school teachers teaching the subject of Practical Education: on the offer, motivation, and preferences in the field of further education. The main ob-jective was to find out in which topics and forms teachers would need to innovate their knowledge. The data were obtained using an electronic questionnaire, which was sent to 1,186 primary schools and completed by 196 teachers from all over Slovakia. The results showed that while teachers per-ceive the courses offered by state institutions as partially sufficient, they consider the courses offered by other educational institutions to be more attractive and suitable. Their main motivation for edu-cation is an internal need and desire for self-development, followed by the possibility of salary ad-vancement. Teachers prefer innovative and refresher training, which is delivered remotely using online workshops. Conversely, they are least interested in traditional lectures and conferences. In terms of content, they are most interested in acquiring new knowledge, innovative methods, and practical skills

    Get PDF
Introduction and aim. Cancers of the gastrointestinal tract are highly prevalent worldwide, with usually symptomless presentations making diagnosis at an early stage challenging. At the same time, salivary biomarkers are a promising method of early diagnosis in different malignancies. To this end, the present systematic review was carried out to investigate if salivary biomarkers can help with the early detection of gastrointestinal cancer and ascertain their diagnostic value. Material and methods. Major electronic databases were searched using a combination of keywords and Boolean operators to retrieve all existing literature on the topic from April 2024 until inception. Clinical studies with relevant information were included in the quantitative synthesis. Analysis of the literature. A total of 48 studies exploring the use of potential salivary biomarkers in esophageal, gastric, colorectal, pancreatic, hepatocellular and biomarkers were included in the present review. All studies retrieved statistically significant correlations between the presence of certain markers in the saliva and development of gastrointestinal cancers. Conclusion. Salivary biomarkers can help detect different gastrointestinal cancers. However, more studies are required to determine their diagnostic value. The use of artificial intelligence might help clinicians in exploiting these biomarkers

Characterization of anti-steatogenic long noncoding RNAs and their epigenetic influence on the development of metabolic fatty liver disease – a systematic review

    Get PDF
Introduction and aim. Numerous transcriptomic studies have demonstrated that the development of metabolically associated fatty liver disease is accompanied by changes in the expression level of long noncoding RNAs (lncRs). The aim: to present a brief description of the role of anti-steatogenic lncRs in the epigenetic influence on the development of metabolically associated fatty liver disease, analyzing the data of modern scientific literature. Material and methods. An analysis of 64 reports over the past 10 years was conducted from the databases PubMed; MEDLINE; EMBASE; Cochrane Systematic Reviews Database; BIOSIS which were selected using the indicated keywords. Quality aspects were assessed using the adapted Newcastle–Ottawa Scale, PROSPERO CRD420250652980. Analysis of the literature. Hypoexpression of AC012668 – increased representation of miR-380-5p, activation of LRP2; B4GALT1- AS1/lncSHGL, MEG3 – activation of lipogenesis, gluconeogenesis in hepatocytes; FLRL2 – inhibition of BMAL1 and SIRT1; Gm16551 – increased expression of ACC1, SCD1; HR1 – activation of SREBP1c. LncLSTR – activation of cytochrome Cyp8b1 transcription; MRAK052686 reduction of FABP7 expression. Conclusion. The formation of hepatosteatosis is supported by a decrease in the expression level of anti-steatogenic lncRs, such as AC012668, B4GALT1-AS1/lncSHGL, MEG3, FLRL2, Gm16551, lncHR1, lncLSTR, MRAK052686. LncRs overexpression is compensatory in escalating inflammation, hyperglycemia

Genetic determinant of metabolic syndrome – a review

    Get PDF
Introduction and aim. Metabolic syndrome is a pathological condition that is a combination of insulin resistance, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and abdominal obesity. Every metabolic syndrome trait has an estimated hereditary factor greater than fifty percent. Many mutations related to distinct traits have been successfully identified through genetic studies. With respect to the advancements in our knowledge of the genetics of obesity, it is a major contributor to metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is associated with many diseases and is closely related to overweight / obesity and lack of activity. Genetic predisposition also plays an important role in it. Therefore, lifestyle modification is the initial and main intervention that can be implemented for such a population. This review pinpoints the literature on the definition of metabolic syndrome, epidemiology, pathogenesis, and its gene polymorphism and treatment approach comprising metabolic syndrome. Material and methods. The literature review was carried out using databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar and the Web of Science for studies looking into metabolic syndrome and its complications. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of the role of genetic and lifestyle changes in the development of metabolic syndrome. Analysis of the literature. Metabolic syndrome is a collection of diseases that include lower levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), increased triglyceride levels (TG), high blood pressure, more waist circumference, and elevated fasting blood glucose. It is closely related to overweight / obesity and lack of activity. Genetic predisposition also plays an important role in it. So lifestyle modification is the initial and main intervention that can be implemented for this population. Conclusion. Genetic, lifestyle changes, and other environmental changes contribute to the development of metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome leads to many health issues; for a better healthy outcome, lifestyle modifications such as healthy dietary habits, following regular physical activity, quitting smoking and alcohol, balanced weight, stress management are required
