Marian Zdziechowski w kontekście modernizmu katolickiego

    Get PDF
Marian Zdziechowski is an important figure of Catholic modernism of European rank. He is also practically the only important Pole in the mainstream of liberal Catholicism at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. As a man of strong faith, he believed that modernism offered a chance to renew the Catholic Church and integrate it into the modern reality. Following Pius X’s 1907 encyclical Pascendi dominici gregis, which condemned Catholic modernism, Zdziechowski remained loyal to the Church. Nevertheless, his key works – Pestis perniciosissima (1905) and Pessimism, Romanticism, and the Foundations of Christianity (1914) – contain content relevant to Catholic modernism. For this reason, Zdziechowski faced criticism from Polish opponents of this Church renewal trend.Marian Zdziechowski to ważna postać modernizmu katolickiego, europejskiej rangi.

The culture of every nation is marked by the features of its national mentality. Mentality is the perception of the world, the feeling of the world, the naturally and historically determined mental makeup, the national character, which is reflected in the language, culture, customs, material and spiritual activities of the people. The idea of the national in the musical art of Western Ukraine was embodied through reliance on the immanent features of regional folklore, harmonic and melodic rhythmic archetypes. The national idea has always been a universal substance in the structure of the Ukrainian mentality. And the native language has become one of its main carriers. The language element played an important role in the national and cultural revival. As in other national cultures, the development of Ukrainian vocal music was closely linked to the development of national poetry. The appeal to the poetry of Taras Shevchenko, Lesya Ukrainka, Ivan Franko, Oleksandr Oles and other authors, which concentrated the characteristic features of the Ukrainian mentality, the selection of texts and their interpretation determined the special features of Western Ukrainian solos, and became evidence of a strong connection with the national tradition.

The subject of the article is the relationship between Franz Liszt and his two Polish students – famous pianists Karol Tausig and Juliusz Zarębski – and the musical culture of Galicia in the 19th century. Franz Liszt gave concerts in Krakow in 1843, and in Lviv in 1847 during his eight-year tour of Europe. His most talented Polish student, Tausig, performed in both cities in May 1870. The article contains a description of the concerts of both pianists, based on the source materials. The other Liszt’s Polish student, Zarębski, never gave concerts in Galician cities. However, in his early compositional work he was inspired by the folk music of this region. The evidence for this is Trois danses galiciennes op. 2 which is briefly analyzed in this paper.

The subject of the text are audio signs-symbols and musical signs-metaphors present in the soundtrack by Jerzy Maksymiuk composed for the film Sanatorium pod Klepsydrą (1973) by Wojciech J. Has, which was based on the short stories of the Galician writer Bruno Schulz. The aim of the considerations is to reflect on possible musical and verbal reminiscences to the culture of Galicia both in the text of the literary original and in the sound layer of its adaptation. Methodology: hermeneutics and semiotics (intersemiotic translation).Tematem eseju są znaki-symbole audialne i znaki-metafory muzyczne obecne w ścieżce dźwiękowej Jerzego Maksymiuka skomponowanej do filmu Sanatorium pod Klepsydrą (1973) Wojciecha J. Hasa, który powstał na podstawie opowiadań galicyjskiego pisarza Brunona Schulza. Celem rozważań jest namysł nad możliwymi muzyczno-słownymi reminiscencjami do kultury Galicji zarówno w tekście pierwowzoru literackiego, jak i warstwie dźwiękowej jego adaptacji. Metodologia: hermeneutyka i semiotyka (przekład intersemiotyczny)

Influencerism and Its Impact on the Development of Digital Skills Among Upper Elementary School Students

    Get PDF
The phenomenon of influencers has emerged from the dynamic development of social media, and their influence on society is continuously growing. These platforms provide a space for sharing personal attitudes, life experiences, and audiovisual content with a global audience. Certain demo-graphic groups are particularly susceptible to influence, especially young people, older citizens, and people with limited ability to critically evaluate information. Our research initiative focused on an-alyzing the impact on upper elementary school students. The primary aim of the research was to observe the growing influence of influencers in con-temporary society and to deepen our understanding of this phenomenon. Our findings reveal the dual nature of this influence: on the one hand, influencers serve as a source of inspiration and a motivating force in shaping young people's personal identities, but on the other hand, they can create unrealistic standards and expectations that arise from the consumption of their often stylized content

Impact of caloric restriction on the Wnt/β-catenin pathway in the hippocampus and cortex of a Kindled rat model

    Get PDF
Introduction and aim. Epilepsy is a common neurological disorder, and despite numerous treatment options, approximately 30% of patients have drug-resistant epilepsy. This situation prompts the exploration of alternative treatments such as caloric restriction (CR), whose mechanisms of antiepileptic action need to be fully elucidated. One of the key overactivated pathways in epilepsy is the Wnt/β-catenin pathway. Material and methods. To explore the potential regulatory effects of CR on this pathway, we conducted a study using twenty-eight male Wistar rats divided into four groups (7 animals each): Control, Sham (20% CR), kindling ad libitum (KAL), and kindling with CR (KCR). Caloric restriction rats received 80% of their daily food intake based on body weight, compared to those fed ad libitum. The kindling model was achieved by the introduction of an electrode in the basolateral nucleus of the amygdala. Immunofluorescence and Western blot techniques were used for the analysis of protein levels (Wnt, β-catenin, GSK3β, and cyclin D) in the frontal cortex and hippocampus. Results. Electroencephalographically and behaviorally, the KCR group exhibited a shorter duration of seizures and an increased behavioral threshold compared to the KAL group. Protein analysis revealed an increase in Wnt pathway proteins (Wnt, β-catenin, and cyclin D) in the KAL group compared to the control group. In contrast, CR reduced protein levels in animals that were induced to kindling. Conclusion. These findings suggest that CR may exert its antiepileptic effects through the regulation of the Wnt pathway by inhibiting its activity in the hippocampus and cortex of kindled rats

A brief review of the cardiovascular complication of COVID-19 – what is the pathophysiology of arrhythmia during infection?

    Get PDF
Introduction and aim. COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV-2, significantly affects the cardiovascular system beyond its respiratory manifestations. This review examines the intricate relationship between COVID-19 and cardiovascular complications, focusing on cardiac arrhythmias and their underlying pathophysiology. Material and methods. A comprehensive literature search was conducted in PubMed and Google Scholar from its inception to December 2024, including peer-reviewed articles published in English. Analysis of literature. In COVID-19, a spectrum of cardiovascular complications is observed, including acute myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, myocarditis, venous thromboembolism, and heart failure/cardiac shock. The pathophysiology of cardiovascular damage in COVID-19 involves multiple mechanisms, primarily including direct viral cardiotoxicity, systemic inflammation, and hypercoagulability. Arrhythmias are a common cardiac complication in COVID-19, encompassing a range of disturbances, from bradycardia to ventricular fibrillation. The mechanisms underlying arrhythmias in COVID-19 are multifaceted, including direct viral injury to cardiomyocytes, hypoxia, systemic inflammation, hyperthermia, autonomic imbalance, electrolyte imbalances, side effects of medications, and drug-drug interactions. Conclusion. Understanding the complex interplay of these factors is crucial for the early diagnosis and appropriate management of cardiac complications in patients with COVID-19. To mitigate cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in individuals with COVID-19, cardiovascular monitoring and the development of targeted therapeutic strategies are highly recommended

    Get PDF
Introduction and aim. The liver plays a central role in the metabolism of drugs, xenobiotics, and nutrients, making it highly susceptible to exposure to toxicity due to drugs and chemical toxins (DCT). DCT-induced hepatotoxicity (DIH), remains one of the most common causes of acute liver failure, and potential therapeutic agents such as ascorbic acid, α-tocopherol and riboflavin have been explored to mitigate DIH. This review summarizes the current knowledge in the experimental model. Material and methods. This review was based in publications available on scientific databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. After the abstract evaluation, the relevant articles were selected for further analysis. Analysis of the literature. The vital role of oxidative stress and inflammation in mediating DIH has been demonstrated. Hence, the most effective therapeutic intervention includes agents that exhibit potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties such as ascorbic acid, α-tocopherol and riboflavin. Conclusion. The comparative therapeutic role of ascorbic acid, α-tocopherol and riboflavin against DIH involves the reparation of hepatic histomorphological impairments and modulation of biochemical and molecular alterations that characterized the onset and progression of DIH
