La Presqu’île : des projets d’aménagements devenus incertains

Du temps est en effet nécessaire pour concevoir des plans d’aménagement, trouver des financements, mener des choix d’urbanisme et d’architecture, exécuter les travaux, etc. Les friches urbaines qui résultent de ces temps d’attente font souvent l’objet d’appropriation temporaire par certains habitants : des artistes, des militants, personnes marginalisées, etc

Le feu de la baleine
International audienceDes humains rencontrent des baleines et cette rencontre transforme leur vie. De plus en plus aujourd’hui lorsque l’on parle de baleines, les yeux pétillent et les passions s’enflamment. Depuis l’époque de sa chasse par les basques, la baleine a été porteuse de feu : son huile permettait l’éclairage et constituait une ressource fondamentale pour les territoires littoraux et plus tard l’industrialisation naissante. Aujourd’hui ce feu est devenu surtout symbolique et affectif : animal protégé, “charismatique”, sa présence autant que son absence émeut et rassemble. Depuis ces corps magistraux vus ou entendus en mer jusqu’aux cadavres dramatiques retrouvés échoués, en passant par les corps reconstitués et exposés dans les musées, nous racontons dans ce film l’histoire commune que nous partageons et pourrions partager avec ces animaux au statut si particulier dans nos univers physiques, imaginaires et sociaux.Ce film s’est imposé à notre agenda de par les événements récents en Finistère. En effet, en septembre 2022, trois échouages de grands cétacés ont eu lieu sur les côtes bretonnes : Île de Sein, Tréguennec en baie d’Audierne, puis Ploeven en baie de Douarnenez. Grâce à notre réseau construit au fil des projets enracinés dans la région, nous avons pu obtenir l’autorisation exceptionnelle par la préfecture de filmer les opérations de découpage des cadavres échoués au plus près des équipes du Parc Marin d’Iroise, de l’OFB et du Réseau National Échouage. Ces images sont inédites, pourtant ce caractère exceptionnel implique une responsabilité quant à la manière de présenter ces images et de les contextualiser. Notre documentaire cherche à reconstruire un lien aux grands cétacés sur nos littoraux tout en faisant sens des événements traumatisants que sont les échouages, mystérieux et pourtant récurrents, et qui aujourd'hui suscitent de plus en plus d’intérêts et cristallisent de plus en plus d’affects contradictoires
Assessment of ex vivo antimalarial drug efficacy in African Plasmodium falciparum parasite isolates, 2016–2023: a genotype–phenotype association study
International audienceBackground: Given the altered responses to both artemisinins and lumefantrine in Eastern Africa, monitoring antimalarial drug resistance in all African countries is paramount.Methods: We measured the susceptibility to six antimalarials using ex vivo growth inhibition assays (IC50) for a total of 805 Plasmodium falciparum isolates obtained from travellers returning to France (2016-2023), mainly from West and Central Africa. Isolates were sequenced using molecular inversion probes (MIPs) targeting forty-three genes across the parasite genome, of which nineteen are drug resistance genes.Findings: Ex vivo susceptibility of all assessed antimalarial compounds was consistent with their potent activity. The median IC50 values for the six drugs were 1.1 nM [IQR: 0.8-1.7] for DHA, 16.7 nM [9.9-27.4] for LMF, 29.5 nM [19.1-45.5] for MFQ, 23.4 nM [17.1-39.0] for MDAQ, 26.7 nM [18.0-41.2] for CQ, and 18.5 nM [15.1-24.3] for PPQ. Only four isolates carried a validated pfkelch13 mutation. Multiple mutations in pfcrt and one in pfmdr1 (Asn86Tyr) were significantly associated with altered susceptibility to multiple drugs, and their frequencies decreased over time. Pfcrt and pfmdr1 mutations altered susceptibility to lumefantrine and mefloquine in an additive manner, with the wild-type haplotype (pfcrt K76-pfmdr1 N86) exhibiting the lowest susceptibility.Interpretation: Our study on P. falciparum isolates from West and Central Africa indicates a low frequency of molecular markers associated with artemisinin resistance and a modest but significant decrease (1.6-2.3X) in the frequency of multidrug resistance markers. These genotypic changes likely mark parasite adaptation to sustained drug pressure and call for intensifying the monitoring of antimalarial drug resistance in Africa
Advances in Longevity: The Intersection of Regenerative Medicine and Cosmetic Dermatology
International audienceBackground: Aging is increasingly recognized as a modifiable biological process influenced by genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. Recent advances in regenerative medicine and artificial intelligence (AI) have reshaped the field of cosmetic dermatology, shifting the focus from temporary aesthetic improvements to long-term interventions aimed at preserving skin vitality and longevity. Aim: This narrative review aims to synthesize emerging knowledge from 2010 to 2025 on the integration of regenerative strategies, biological modulators, immunologic regulation, microbiome modulation, and AI-driven personalization in the context of aesthetic longevity. The review also discusses translational potential and ethical considerations surrounding these advancements. Methods: A targeted literature search was conducted using PubMed and Scopus to identify peer-reviewed articles from 2010 to 2025. Search terms included "skin aging," "stem cells," "mitochondrial dysfunction," "epigenetic reprogramming," "artificial intelligence in dermatology," and "skin microbiome." Selected studies focused on regenerative and longevity-based interventions with clinical relevance or future applicability in cosmetic dermatology. Results: Key findings were categorized into six interconnected domains: regenerative medicine, mitochondrial function, epigenetic modulation, immunological balance, microbiome resilience, and AI-driven innovation. These pillars demonstrate a paradigm shift toward biologically informed, personalized strategies that aim to restore and sustain skin health at the molecular level. Conclusion: Cosmetic dermatology is undergoing a transformation toward integrative, proactive care that combines regenerative medicine, AI, and personalized interventions. Matrices secteurs-inaptitudes et handicap à la Réunion : mise à jour en 2024 avec perspective sur l’emploi, la pénibilité
National audienceIntroduction. - Sectors-Job retention/disability matrix was used on Reunion Island from 2017 to 2021 to prevent health related job losses. We aim to update the study with three years to determine the evolution and assess the different factors between restriction and job loss. Method. - A similar study will use data from the two occupational health and prevention units on Reunion Island. The data will cover the period from December 1, 2017, to December 1, 2024. It will include the sector matrix (Nomenclature Franc,aise des activites 2008, NAF), the number of job losses, and the number of employees benefiting from the obligation to employ disabled workers (BOETH) per year. For 2023 and 2024, skills with restrictions have been added as a job category according to the 2003 classification by professions and socio-professional categories (PCS 2003), in addition to sex, age, and type of company. The MADE jobs-exposure matrix on arduous exposure was applied. Results. - From 2017 to 2024, more BOETHs were found, and job raised and stabilized. The home care sector still was the first activity sectors since 2017, without any effect related to the pandemic. People with job loss in 2023-24 compared to those who benefit from restriction were older, more often blue-collar workers, and more exposed to difficult work. Conclusion. - Updating these job-incapacity/disability matrices showed that action is needed to prevent occupational health related job losses

Maternal exposure to pesticides and gestational diabetes mellitus in the Elfe Cohort
International audienceBackground: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) increases risks of adverse perinatal outcomes and metabolic disorders in offspring. Some endocrine-disrupting chemicals are presumed to interfere with glucose metabolism. We aimed to assess the association between non-occupational exposures to pesticides and the risk of GDM.Methods: The study was conducted on 11 512 women (791 with GDM) from the French nationwide Elfe cohort. Among 114 suspected pesticides identified using a toxicogenomic approach, 62 with detection frequency ≥10 % were analyzed across three sources of exposure: residential use (self-reported, n = 18), agricultural (geographic information system, n = 14) and dietary (estimated by a food-frequency questionnaire and monitoring data of pesticide residues in foods, n = 30). The association between exposure to pesticides (no or low vs. high) and the occurrence of GDM was tested with single and multi-source adjusted logistic regression models.Results: In the multi-source model, dietary exposure to glyphosate (aOR = 0.6, 95 %CI: 0.5,0.9) or agricultural exposure (aOR = 0.8, 95 %CI:0.6,1.0) were associated with lower odds of GDM. The same effect was identified for two dietary pesticides: epoxiconazole (aOR = 0.6, 95 %CI: 0.5,0.8) and penconazole (aOR = 0.8, 95 %CI: 0.6,1.0). Dietary exposure to cypermethrin (aOR = 1.2, 95 %CI:1.0,1.5) and agricultural exposure to myclobutanil (aOR = 1.4, 95 %CI:1.1,1.9) were associated with higher odds of GDM. No significant association was identified for the residential use of pesticides.Conclusion: This toxico-genomic-based study identifies five pesticides associated with GDM through agricultural or dietary exposure. These findings provide new insights into environmental contributors to GDM. Further research is needed to elucidate the underlying toxicological mechanisms and confirm these associations
La vulnérabilité des populations face aux changements climatiques dans les Pays de la Loire
Ce rapport spécial du GIEC des Pays de la Loire propose une analyse approfondie des vulnérabilités humaines et territoriales face aux changements climatiques. Il rappelle l’impératif d’une adaptation juste, pensée à l’échelle locale, construite avec les populations et fondée sur une solidarité active. Car anticiper les impacts ne suffira pas : il faut aussi agir sur leurs causes, pour limiter l’ampleur des perturbations à venir.
