The effect of using picture series to improve writing skills for third grade junior high school student's
Writing is one of the language skills that is considered difficult because students are required to express ideas in written English correctly. This study aims to investigate the effect of using picture series in improving students’ writing skills. This study used experimental research in a junior high school. The results of this study indicate that the use of series of images has made a significant difference in improving students' writing skills. A series of images that are chosen appropriately can build students' interest and attention to the learning process. This will create an enthusiastic and lively learning atmosphere. Things that need to be considered are the selection of series of images that are easy and familiar to students to avoid irrelevant comments from students, series of images should not be funny images that will cause irrelevant comments and an uncontrolled classroom atmosphere. Giving students assignments individually can waste time in teaching writing using series of images. To avoid this, it is recommended to distribute copies of the picture series to students a week in advance, so that students can study the pictures early
Correlation of Gratitude and Patience to Subjective Well-Being on Honorary Teachers
Humans strive to create a prosperous life, both physical, social and psychological conditions, so that the quality of life improves, including honorary teachers. Psychological well-being has a relationship with the behavior of gratitude and patience. The research aims to determine the correlation of gratitude and patience with subjective well-being in honorary teachers. This research uses quantitative with explanatory correlational type. Subjects were taken using purposive sampling. Respondents in this study were 155 people. Data collection used 3 instruments; gratitude scale, patience scale, and subjective well-being scale. Data analysis used multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS. The results of this research show that there is a significant correlation between gratitude and patience on subjective well-being in honorary teachers. The higher the level of gratitude and patience, the higher the subjective well-being experienced by honorary teachers
Green policies and leadership character: integrating pancasila, astha brata, and nature-inspired principles for sustainable futures
This study explores character-centric leadership, focusing on Pancasila and Astha Brata principles, to address global challenges like climate change. Using Kevin Cashman’s "Inside Out" approach, it examines how nature-inspired qualities—adaptability, cooperation, wisdom, and environmental respect—shape ethical leadership. Qualitative interviews with four experts highlight the integration of these values into leadership practices. Findings emphasize the importance of self-awareness, spiritual wisdom, and environmental ethics in fostering sustainable leadership. The research underscores the need for education systems to instill these values early, nurturing future leaders who prioritize humanity, diversity, and sustainability. This holistic approach aligns cultural values with modern leadership demands, offering solutions for complex global issues. The study also highlights the role of green policies and technological adaptation in addressing climate change. By combining Pancasila’s ethical framework, Astha Brata’s cultural guidance, and Cashman’s psychological insights, this research provides a comprehensive model for effective, value-driven leadership. These insights aim to inspire leaders to balance innovation with ecological responsibility, promoting long-term societal well-being
Exploring the Emotional Impact of Contrasting Melodies and Lyrics: A Quasi-Experimental Study on Mood Alteration
The phenomenon of emotional incongruence in Dangdut Koplo, where cheerful melodies are paired with sorrowful lyrics, creates a unique cognitive dissonance that challenges listeners' emotional processing. This juxtaposition is prominent in Didi Kempot's works, blending lively rhythms with melancholic themes of heartbreak and longing. Such contrasting elements evoke strong emotional responses, making the genre a compelling subject for psychological exploration. This study pioneers exploring emotional incongruence in Dangdut Koplo, aiming to replicate and expand upon Stratton and Zalanowski’s findings. Using a quasi-experimental design, 55 psychology students were assessed with PANAS before and after listening to four songs by Didi Kempot. Results revealed a significant increase in Negative Affect (NA) post-exposure, while Positive Affect (PA) remained stable. Regression analysis demonstrated lyrical content had a stronger impact than melody on mood shifts. Participants who related to the lyrics experienced more pronounced negative emotions. Age and gender significantly influenced reactions, highlighting personal and cultural factors. This study provides insights into music's psychological mechanisms and implications for music therapy across diverse cultural contexts
'Rapid counseling': counseling with music that can reduce anxiety about thesis in just one session
Every student will undergo their education with the difficulties they will experience, and every student will experience a thesis or final project which is one of the requirements for a student to be considered a graduate. When carrying out a thesis, the average student will experience anxiety, and anxiety regarding the thesis can be said to be academic anxiety. Academic anxiety is a feeling of fear, danger, and fear due to the pressure of the education being pursued. Rapid counseling is a method of therapeutic assistance that is carried out quickly, with just one meeting, and can be carried out individually or in groups. and can be combined with music. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of Rapid Counseling with Single-Session Music Therapy to reduce anxiety about the thesis in three Atma Jaya Counseling Guidance Students. The subjects of this research were three female students from the class of 2019 who were taking a thesis and had a high level of academic anxiety. This research is a quantitative experimental research with a single subject design. The interview data collection technique and assessment scale instrument constructed by Situmorang is the Academic Anxiety Scale which has a total of 24 items with a validity result of 0.268 and a reliability of 0.961. In the implementation of Rapid Counseling with Single-Session Music Therapy, it can be effective in reducing anxiety about the thesis with just one meeting session and can provide the counselee with a "soundtrack of my life" that has been made together with the counselor during the counseling service so that when anxiety about the thesis is high again, the counselee only needs to listen to the song that has been made together with the counselor
Metaverse platform as a new culture: analysis of fomo phenomenon in college students
The phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) is a notable impact associated with the usage of these platforms metaverse. This study focuses on assessing the FoMO levels among university students and examines variations based on age, gender, and specific FoMO indicators. Adopting a quantitative methodology with a descriptive approach, the research involved 346 students aged 18 to 24. The findings revealed that the highest level of FoMO was classified as high, at 59.5%. Among these, female students exhibited a higher prevalence of FoMO at 68%, compared to their male counterparts at 48%, who fell into the medium category. The most significant FoMO indicator was the urge to check updates on social media. The study concluded that FoMO levels among students are predominantly high, with minor age-related variations. Gender-wise, a distinction was noted where females showed higher levels of FoMO than males. The compulsion to monitor social media updates emerged as the most prominent FoMO descriptor
Art therapy in expressing emotions and managing stress among students: interactive approach
This study examines the effectiveness of Art Therapy as an intervention in managing stress and expressing emotions in students. By using the mixed methods method, the research population was carried out on 3rd Semester Guidance and Counseling students at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu, totaling 92 people. And the research sample used in the experimental group and control group was 20 people. this study involved experimental groups that received art therapy sessions and control groups that did not receive interventions. Stress and emotional scale are measured before and after intervention. The results show that the experimental group experienced a significant decrease in stress levels and increased emotional control compared to the control group. Art Therapy has proven to be an effective approach to improving students' mental well-being, providing self-expression media, and supporting stress management. These findings highlight the potential integration of art therapy in university counselling services to support student mental health
Exploring cultural intelligence in educational studies: a bibliometric perspective on global literature
With the rapid growth of research on the topic of cultural intelligence in educational studies, it becomes increasingly important to understand the trends, patterns of scholarly collaboration, and direction of this research development. This study explores the development of research on the topic based on Scopus-indexed scientific publications, using a bibliometric approach. Data were obtained from 227 relevant articles based on the keywords “cultural intelligence” and “education” from 2015 to 2025. The analysis was conducted using VOSviewer and Biblioshiny to answer research questions. RQ1: Who are the authors who contribute the most to the publication of research and works on cultural intelligence in education studies? RQ2: What are the main keywords in cultural intelligence in education studies? RQ3: What are the potential topics for future studies in the field of research related to cultural intelligence in educational studies? Based on these research questions, it was found that Jacqueline E. McLaugh is the most prolific author. In addition, four main clusters of research were found, namely the Education and Students Cluster, the Cultural and Psychological Competence Cluster, the Learning and Cognition Cluster, and the Globalization, Leadership, and Cultural Diversity Cluster. Potential research on the topic of cultural intelligence in educational studies focuses on how cultural intelligence can increase international employment and how students can develop better skills in multicultural experiential learning
Overview of character education design in senior high schools with boarding school in Indonesia
The deployment of character education within Islamic-oriented public boarding schools throughout Indonesia has experienced significant expansion, encompassing both primary and secondary educational tiers. Originally initiated by private entities, this boarding school paradigm has now been embraced by public educational institutions, many of which have emerged as prominent leaders in the field. This educational framework draws inspiration from traditional Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) and prioritizes character development through the integration of religious-humanist principles that are ingrained in everyday practice. The objective of this study is to investigate the framework of character education in state senior high schools that implement the boarding school model. Employing a qualitative research methodology, data were gathered via observational techniques and structured interviews. The results indicate that character education is cultivated through a cohesive and continuous curriculum that interlinks academic instruction with dormitory living experiences. Values are enhanced through systematically organized school programs and are further reinforced by routine dormitory engagements. The institutions also advocate for moral advancement through the cultivation of spiritual consciousness and foster a cohesive culture that bridges academic pursuits with residential life. Furthermore, extracurricular initiatives are utilized to develop not only ethical comprehension but also the social competencies and soft skills of students. These findings underscore the potential efficacy of the boarding school model in promoting comprehensive character development within public educational frameworks
Comparison of Burnout Based on Gender and Part-time Work Among Higher Education Students
With an emphasis on gender disparities and part-time employment status, this study explores the causes of burnout among college and university students. The academic world is increasingly concerned about burnout, which is characterized by excessive exhaustion and a loss of interest in academic pursuits. This study, which involved university students from Lampung, Indonesia, indicated that gender is crucial in determining how burnout affects students. Burnout is also more likely when part-time occupations are required due to increased economic hardships. The results highlight the significance of comprehending and resolving the particular difficulties experienced by various student groups in order to promote a supportive learning environment and improve student well-being
